Temperatures are consistent, hovering between 70 and 85 degrees year round, with the warmest weather in the summer, between June and August. This is also when the waves of the North Shore are at their most approachable for non-professional surfers, and it's also when beaches are most likely to be open for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and diving. Winter (November–February) is the busy season, when the weather is ever-so-slightly cooler. Come in spring (March–April) or fall (September–October) and you might find the beaches slightly less busy, but still just as beautiful.
Sun, sea, sand, and surf—Pupukea's scenic splendor
Pupukea is 36 miles north of Honoulu, roughly an hour's journey by car, on Oahu's North Shore. At the southern end of Pupukea you'll find the famous Waimea Bay, one of the most popular beaches on the island, while surfers will be heading straight to the breaks of Sunset, Pipeline, Velzyland, and Kammieland. Pupukea Beach Park is a great place to start for snorkeling and diving, with Three Tables and Sharks Cove both popular spots. Inland, you'll find that the state's iconic, lush landscape is home to pineapple and coffee plantations.

The nearest airport is in Daniel K. Inouye Intl. Airport (HNL), located 24 mi (38.6 km) from the city center. If you can't find a flight that's convenient for your trip, you could also fly into Kapolei, HI (JRF-Kalaeloa), which is 23.7 mi (38.1 km) away.
