Set in the unspoilt Val Di Chiana, just eight kilometers south of the Historic City of Arezzo and 15 kilometers from Cortona, deep in Piero Della Francesca country, in the land steeped in history, architecture, art and legend, famous for it’s wine, olive oil and food, you will find the treasure that is Il Pero. This magnificent, historically 'listed', example of Leopaldina architecture has been lovingly restored to its former glory with elegant simplicity.
The Taxis family bought this house in 2002 and have made it their goal to restore this property into a home to be shared with others that love all that is Tuscany.
With two cottages, one sleeping 5(plus 2 on a sofabed) and the other sleeping 6 (plus 2 on a sofa bed)as well as a unique and exquisitely decorated bed and breakfast suite for 2 in the tower, available to guests, intergrated into the house. This is an ideal location for family groups. Guests are invited to relax and enjoy the large swimming pool, and the extensive gardens where our smaller guests can enjoy space and parents can relax in the knowledge that they are safe.
Enjoy eating ‘al fresco’, relax by the pool, rest under a tree in dappled shade with a book, but most of all to take in the tranquillity this perfect location offers.
Decorated to please and relax our guests in light elegance, with cotto floors and original menzane ceilings on the lower floors and wooden floorboards upstairs, with the same original exposed cotto menzane ceiling tiles and wooden beams.
We believe that our guests need to ‘looked-after’ and to this end we offer services to take the complication out of their stay. Breakfast, lunch, and evening meals can be prepared on request. Barbecue by the pool, both cooked and served by us or self catered - what ever takes your fancy. Restaurant reservations can be made. Also for larger parties dinner can be served in our banqueting hall.
In short nothing is too much trouble, our guests take priority whilst they are staying here, and we will do everything possible to ensure that time spent here is their most enjoyable moment, to be remembered for a life time.
Of course as we are located in the perfect position for exploring the rest of Tuscany, we can send you in the right direction if you want inspiration, or just get in the car, or onto one of our mountain bikes, take a map and explore!

- Washer : There is a washing machine in each apartment. Washing detergent is supplied.
- Linens Provided : for guests staying for more than one week all linens and towels are changed once each week. Interim changes are possible on request at a charge of 10Euro per pserson.

- Minimum Age Limit for Renters : Minimum ages for principal renter is 21.
- Smoking Not Allowed : Smoking as allowed outside the apartments and ashtrays are supplied. Strictly no smoking inside any part of the house.

We chose to buy in the Arezzo area because the house wanted us. The area is beautiful and has everything one could ever want right on the doorstep. this area of Tuscany is enchanting, once you have been here you will see why we will never leave... and you'll wnat to come back for more!
The Unique Benefits of this Farmhouse
The most important asset of our home is it's peace and tranquility, the fact that we are located in a rural setting with miles and miles of countryside to look at, whilst actually being very close to civilization. All our guests find that the fact that we are also resident here most helpful as there is never a problem with communication and the benefit that we can give so much advice... Tuscany is one of the most beautiful regions of Italy and there is so much to see and so much can be missed out on if you don't know what's out there. We make sure you don't miss the best bits.
