  • What a Beautiful Place

"Ocean’s Edge is a wonderful place. My husband and I have enjoyed this place on several occasions. The beach is very private (as we like to lay out nude) and the house is very comfortable. It is so much fun to sit on the beach and watch the wildlife during the day and in the evening when the raccoons come to feed on bread that we leave out. If you are looking for a quiet and private place, with beautiful flowers and vegetation…Ocean’s Edge is the place for you. The owners Mike and Frankie are great to work with as well as the property managers. We have always rented a car and driven to Ocean’s Edge. It is a beautiful drive and Belize is a safe country to travel. The owners have a notebook filled things to see and do, so come and enjoy the hidden treasures of Belize….what a beautiful place!! ? We recommend the Monkey River Tour as well as Cyrila’s Chocolate, this is a great adventure back in time when chocolate was made totally by hand and the owners are wonderful."

  • Beautiful tropical beachside home away from home!

"If you are planning a trip to Placencia, you will want to stay in the Tree Top Villa, the pictures just do not do it justice. The villa is in a gated development a short distance (~2mi) from the airport and from the main town of Placencia (~2mi). When my husband and I decided to travel to Placencia, we contact the owner Kristi who was indispensable in helping us plan this part of our trip. She answered all of our questions about transportation, getting around, and had great local knowledge of the surrounding area. She was extremely responsive and helped make it a highlight of our trip. The villa itself offers everything from home but of course in a Caribbean setting. The first thing that we noticed upon entering the villa after being picked up by Aaron (who acts like a concierge for the villa), was the air conditioning. This may not sound like a big deal but I assure you that Belize can get “warm” and you too will appreciate not sweating for part of your trip. The villa had a wonderful layout with two balconies (one with an outdoor tub), wonderful furnishings and a large bedroom with dual headed shower in the bathroom. Although used minimally, we enjoyed the kitchen and especially appreciated the washer and dryer. As per the description of the villa’s amenities, you will also have use of bicycles and a double kayak, which we made use of while we were there. We took the kayak (via a short sandy path) to False Caye which took ~20-30 minutes to paddle to due to the choppy waves on the day that we went out. False Caye is comprised mainly of mangrove trees thus the name. We did some snorkeling on the backside of the Caye where there is a relatively protected bay. We were able to observe a variety of fish, starfish, a manatee, sting rays, and even a baby octopus. We used the bicycles to travel to Maya Beach where there are some local restaurants and markets. The trip is a flat journey on paved roads that took ~10-15 min. Add 5-10 min more for Placencia. Maya Beach is where you go to have a quiet dinner or pick up a few quick supplies and Placencia is where you may want to go if you want a little more adventure than that. We were warned that Placencia is “over run” by tourists and although there are some tourists in Placencia, and indeed the entire area is growing, it still has very much a local feel. There are a lot of good restaurants, bars, and don’t forget to go to Tutti Frutti for the world famous gelato- thanks Aaron. Placencia is a wonderful place t"

  • Better than the pictures!

"We have used VRBO many times. Sometimes you don't quite get what you were expecting. However, this place was the real deal. Awesome views, crystal clear pool, cold A/C, clean comfy house and an amazing palapa on the lagoon. We had coffee on the balcony every morning and fished from the dock every night. Dolphins and manatees cruised by but we never saw the famous Croc. Dan was helpful and easy to work with. We couldn't have asked for a better spot to spend a week. There are many beaches, bars and restaurants within a 15 minute walk. Maya Bistro and Mango's were by far the best. We decided to rent a golf cart and it came in quite handy. We cruised the entire peninsula in slow motion and it was so relaxing. The roads felt very safe. We were able to enjoy some of the Placencia night life without always having to call a taxi. The only problem we had was booking tours. The giude that was recommended (Alrin) was a complete joke. We'd book a fishing trip with him, he'd call at the lat minute to cancel and leave us hanging with no other options. We would run across the street to The Green Parrot and Leo would squeeze us on a trip or tour last minute. I'd recommend leaving Alrin out of the picture and just let Leo set things up for you. Alrin acually had the nerve to call me for the third day in a row, yell at me and cancel again. I know we had a few windy days that weren't good for reef fishing, but he could have taken us fishing on the lagoon or to the Monkey River. We ended up having his brother Efar take us on the Monkey River tour and I think that really pissed him off. But hey, I'm not going to force you to take my money... there are plenty of other awesome guides that work hard to please their clients. Even though we never got to fish on the reef, the trip was a great success. The snorkeling out there was phenomenal. Go slow and enjoy!"

  • Beautiful, Dream vacation

"Our family of 4 traveled to Belize. Our children 14 and 19 thoroughly enjoyed there stay at the Seabreeze Villa. The pool is a must and the beach so close was very exciting. We woke with tropical birds singing. Limes to pick and banana trees in the back yard. You definitely need at least 8 days to enjoy Placencia and what the property had to offer. More if you want to see the sights. Singing Springs restaurant was excellent in Maya Beach. The food was to die for. Tutti Frutti Gelato in the village is excellent. I loved the fresh produce market in Placencia. They have the best fresh produce in abundance along with fresh eggs and meat to purchase from the freezer. Yvonne was very helpful in preparation for our trip, giving directions and things to see and do while there. Arlin, the boat guide, drove right up to the beach and took us to the barrier reef to fish and snorkel on our own private island!! What a wild ride and well worth the experience, even for someone who has not been in the ocean 20 miles out before. We went during the raining season, only rained one day for 30 minutes. Pretty amazing to see the storm roll in. Very warm weather. The pool will cool you off! We hated to leave and would love do it all over again."
