  • Better than the pictures!

"We have used VRBO many times. Sometimes you don't quite get what you were expecting. However, this place was the real deal. Awesome views, crystal clear pool, cold A/C, clean comfy house and an amazing palapa on the lagoon. We had coffee on the balcony every morning and fished from the dock every night. Dolphins and manatees cruised by but we never saw the famous Croc. Dan was helpful and easy to work with. We couldn't have asked for a better spot to spend a week. There are many beaches, bars and restaurants within a 15 minute walk. Maya Bistro and Mango's were by far the best. We decided to rent a golf cart and it came in quite handy. We cruised the entire peninsula in slow motion and it was so relaxing. The roads felt very safe. We were able to enjoy some of the Placencia night life without always having to call a taxi. The only problem we had was booking tours. The giude that was recommended (Alrin) was a complete joke. We'd book a fishing trip with him, he'd call at the lat minute to cancel and leave us hanging with no other options. We would run across the street to The Green Parrot and Leo would squeeze us on a trip or tour last minute. I'd recommend leaving Alrin out of the picture and just let Leo set things up for you. Alrin acually had the nerve to call me for the third day in a row, yell at me and cancel again. I know we had a few windy days that weren't good for reef fishing, but he could have taken us fishing on the lagoon or to the Monkey River. We ended up having his brother Efar take us on the Monkey River tour and I think that really pissed him off. But hey, I'm not going to force you to take my money... there are plenty of other awesome guides that work hard to please their clients. Even though we never got to fish on the reef, the trip was a great success. The snorkeling out there was phenomenal. Go slow and enjoy!"

  • Secluded Sanctuary

"My wife and I recently shared this home for a week with 2 other couples. We enjoyed everything about the property. Beautiful private beach, easy access to town and dinning. Aaron was very accommodating and offered many suggestions for things to do and places to eat. I would highly recommend this property."

  • As Close to Perfect as it Gets

"We recently rented Reva's Pearl for a 4 week period and could not have been more satisfied. Everything we needed was there for cooking (including a BBQ), keeping in touch (WiFi) and entertained (American Satellite TV Channels - great for football!). The house is perfectly located and most days the bikes and Richie's Bus Line were all we needed to get around. The real surprise about Placencia is the world class restaurants both within walking distance as well as in Placencia Village. To name a few; Maya Beach Bistro - doesn't get any better anywhere (at least in Canada) - breakfast and dinner menu's to die for at extremely low prices; Mango's - try a slider (burger), best $4 burger you will ever have and great watering hole for ex-pats on the weekend; Mojo's in Placencia Village - amazing food served by a great owner and staff; Barefoot Bar in Placencia Village - best beach food in Central America; Wendy's (Placencia Village) - best $5 lunch specials on the planet. If you get the impression we were amazed by the food your are right, this was totally unexpected - a culinary holiday in Belize. Couple of other suggestions; if you are booking Monkey River Tours etc we strongly suggest you go through Trip and Travel in Placencia - they have the best guides; for travel to and from Belize City to Placencia we suggest you consider booking a shuttle service from Belize. It is cheaper than flying and you will get what amounts to a guided tour of 1/2 of the country by the drivers. We suggest you book through Discounted Belize Shuttles and Tours - Google it or call 501 624 5022. It is owned by a Belize Family in which all of the employees are brothers, cousins etc. The service is top flight and they are EXTREMELY dependable. Support the local people, use these guys and you will not be disappointed. If you want to rent a car (which we encourage) to go see the Mayan Ruins, the Blue Hole etc etc) and are staying at Reva's Pearl a transplanted South African / Canadian (Edmonton) runs a small car rental agency of "Older vehicles" and will offer the best weekly rate you will find (was $400 US) - call Phil 630 0097 We were obviously impressed by Belize, Placencia, Maya Beach and Reva's Pearl. If you spend time there and do not come back thoroughly relaxed then your case is hopeless. This is not a quasi all inclusive vacation spot or location, it is however a small chunk of paradise."
