  • Peace, Relaxation and Comfort

"We recently returned from a 4 week stay (February 2015) at La Colina de Carolina just outside of Montezuma in Costa Rica. The accommodations were just right for us, 2 retired travellers. The house and grounds were in excellent condition, private and very secure with an onsite caretaker (Bladimir) and nearby property manager (Ginette) available should we need them. The house was comfortable and very well equipped, especially the kitchen. The veranda is a highlight; spacious with lots of comfortable seating and a large a dining table where we had all of our meals. It had cool breezes, birds and butterflies visiting the trees and flowering bushes, a great view of the ocean, and no problems with bugs. The weather was perfect every day for four weeks, Montezuma is a small but interesting town with many beautiful beaches, waterfalls, excursions and other attractions available to spend the day and a huge number of dining options ranging from gourmet to typical Costa Rican. The house and property were accessible to the town and surrounding area by walking and public transit (we didn't rent a car). Taxis and shuttle services are also plentiful and reasonably priced. The owner "Carolina" indicated that her goal was that our stay at La Colina would exceed our expectations ... mission accomplished. Prior to our arrival, she and her property manager answered many questions to help us prepare for our first visit to Costa Rica. Many thanks to Carolina, Ginette, and Bladimir for making our first visit to Costa Rica a fantastic experience."

  • Magical jungle dream

"Two weeks after returning home, we are still in awe of how fantastic this place was. It met and exceeded every expectation. We really couldn't think of how it could be better. intimacy? check. rich jungle flora and fauna? check. amazing view? check. close to amenities and beaches? check. jungle paths to explore? check. a big yard? check. air conditioned comfortable bedrooms? check. clean and well-maintained? check. complimentary fruit and beer in the fridge? check. 1)the location is phenomenal. There were a lot of cicedas when we were there, but also birds, and of course howler monkeys, which come right to the edge of the jungle and can be seen from the house. For Canadians, it was very surreal to see flocks of parrots and giant butterflies. There is a breathtaking view down the mountain to the sea. Looking down from above, it was beautiful to see rolling mist over the lower forests while we had only stars above us. 2)There is a fantastic in-ground tiled infinity pool, complete with a shallow end and a deep end sufficient for diving. When you turn it on, you get a little waterfall into the pool that toddlers get ridiculously excited over. Our kids loved the pool, and spent hours a day in it. 3)The yard is large and beautiful. It is the perfect size to preserve a sense of intimacy, and always be close to the jungle. It is large enough for kids to explore and play hide and seek. 4)The house feels luxurious. The rooms are all spacious, including the kitchen, living and dining rooms and bedrooms. The kitchen is well laid out and can handle a crowd helping to prepare meals. There are two bedrooms upstairs adjoining a common bathroom with a shower upstairs with a small mezzanine for hanging out. The balconies are nice, and there are some bats that spend the day hanging under the roof and watching you outside. They keep the bugs away, and are fun to watch at dusk. My parents slept in the master bedroom downstairs with a lavish ensuite bathroom, which gave us all some privacy. 5) the roof is wide and provides lots of shelter from sun or rain around the house. We ate outside a few times, which isn't a substantially different experience from eating in the dining room, as all the walls are either windows or doors. 6) It would have been nice to perhaps have a few extra bowls and some sharp knives. That's it. That's the only thing that could make this place better. We are really hoping to go back to this place!"

  • Casa de Frutas

"It was unanimous among our family of 5- Tulemar sets the bar high for vacation destinations. We loved everything from the quiet picturesque surroundings (sans Howler Monkeys), attentive service and of course the incredible Casa de Frutas. Tulemar is truly like living inside a zoo- it's an experience in itself to sit and witness all the wildlife in it's natural habitat. The locals are kind, inviting and ready to share their beautiful country with visitors. Mauricio was an amazing concierge, and whether we needed to go to the grocery store, wanted to book a tour, or were wondering what to do for dinner, he was there for our every need. Thank you so much for the service and paradise you gave us Tulemar! It was a vacation we will not soon forget."

  • Great Home! Great Value! Great Host!

"I was part of a group of six adults and two children staying at this most awesome home for Christmas 2014. In every group, some can be comfortable, while others not. I loved Gary's home! Everything that is needed can be found here! I loved waking up before sunrise, sitting on the back porch with my husband watching the sun rise over the beach. Pool stayed in almost constant use. We used the built-in barbecue located next to the pool. This area also boasts showers, bathrooms, and volleyball net with ball! ready for a fun family game. In the backyard, the fence door opens right onto the beach. After walking on the beach there is a water hose making it easy to rinse the sand off. This house is in a perfect beach location! Really enjoyed walking for a couple of miles after the tide rolls out in the morning. Beautiful landscape, lots of nice people to meet. Most amenities Gary listed were put to good use, #1- WIFI! The Ping-Pong table held several matches, the foosball table saw some action. Even my husband enjoyed the rope swing… we have pictorial evidence. We enjoyed puzzles at the table in the evenings. On Christmas, we played our annual game of Risk which lasted to the next day! We left the game for many others to enjoy. If you like open air, then this home offers it! Large windows with large doors that allow good circulation throughout the main part of the house - gives a "beachy" feel and not closed up. Plenty of ceiling fans throughout the house! Full kitchen with plenty of counter-space. A large refrigerator and pantry. Easy to cook breakfast and dinners when desired. Bedrooms were spacious. If a box fan is not in your room, ask Gary and for an extension cord if need be! It is true the shower water is not American standard hot. Gary was able to adjust the water from being tepid to warm. Gary is the best host ever! Shortly after arriving my husband became ill from a flu he picked up at work and unable to travel to the airport the next day to pick up the rest of our group. At a moment's notice, Gary was able to make the second trip but also stop by the pharmacy to get flu medicine. His wife immediately provided two icepacks. Everybody's opinion matters, but only you can decide what is important to you! If you are looking for Pura Vida in Costa Rica with the greatest host, the greatest place, at the greatest price… choose property #17355!"
