  • Perfect summer vacation spot for family of five

"We spent a wonderful week at Coeur de Lion in August 2014. The house is amazing - it magically and beautifully blends the wonder of medieval ambience with every possible modern comfort and amenity. We made two visits to the supermarche in Cahors but otherwise bought all our food at local markets, in a different town each day of the week. Then we enjoyed lunch or dinner on the outdoor terrace or at the wonderful dining table. We loved being able to descend the path behind the house to the towpath, and to jog or hike in both directions. Some of the highlights of our week included our visit to Chateau de Cinevieres, where we met the 94 year old proprietor as we toured the property, and our discovery of the Domaine Dols winery, where we tasted several scrumptious wines (and were sad to learn that there was no shipping to the US). We also really enjoyed our visit to the Pech Merle caves and the town of Figeac, among others. We would LOVE to visit again - the people we met everywhere were so warm and friendly and appreciative of our efforts to speak French, the countryside was so beautiful, the house so comfortable and special. It was a perfect vacation! Alison and Ted and three kids aged 16, 14 and 11"

  • Beautiful villa in the south of France!

"This last May I had the amazing opportunity of staying at this beautiful house in southern France. Built in the 17th century, the house has a unique and historical feel to it compared to other places I've stayed in France. Comprising of several bedrooms, the house offers a great deal amount of space if you are looking for renting a place suitable for a family plus a modern kitchen which is perfect for cooking big meals. Besides the house, the property also includes another small house which is primarily used for storage, however, one part was converted into a living room that overlooks a vineyard in the small valley below. There is also a pool and a hot tub available to use, however, due to the weather, the pool was closed when I visited the property. In regards to the region where the house is located, I had no complaints. Located in the small community of Flottes less than fifteen minutes away from the bigger town of Cahors, the surrounding neighborhood is peaceful and quiet and offers a great setup if you are interested in traveling to other historical towns in the area. Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Rocamadour, Montcuq, and Castelnau-Montratier are just a few of the towns I had the opportunity on visiting and each one had great things to see and visit. The last thing that I loved the most was the food. During my whole stay, I don't believe I had one really bad experience with food. Everything was fresh and restaurants were easy to come by which made the stay even more enjoyable. The people were also friendly and welcoming even if they didn't speak your language. I guess if I were to say one negative thing about the trip, it would be about the weather that I experienced. For almost half of the vacation it was raining and cold, however, it didn't stop me from going out and exploring. Besides the weather, though, I had an amazing experience staying at this house. I would definitely return sometime in the near future if I come back to southern France. The property offered many great features and a great location for traveling to other areas in southern France. If you are interested in experiencing authentic France, definitely stay at this place, I recommend it!"
