  • Down by the Rainbow River

"Came to Wood Duck Crossing for a hopeful week of unwinding, fishing, swimming, birding, floating, boating, enjoying family and friends, reading, photograping, and daydreaming. Two young girls were tickled to find all the added water toy amenities, most especially the kayak & sup ! A perfect setting and location, the house had everything for the Rainbow River admirer: - a large beautiful tree shaded waterfront view - an outdoor fire pit for spooky or silly games - a convenient dock for the anticipated jump-in - colorful array of "noodles" for us lax*a*lazy snorkeling guests - everything necessary for coffee & eggs on the porch - a nice grill for all those fish we caught ( burgers ) - a covered carport to unpack & repack in cooler temp. - every bath, kitchen, eye, ear, & sleeping need availed - AND !! Wi-Fi We had a most excellent opportunity to find whatever it was each of us needed to have a splendid time. It was awesome!"

  • Kayaker's Dream

"We chose the property because we wanted to kayak the Rainbow river, and it was a dream come true. With all the kayaks we had our choice of boats, and my 6 year old even got to paddle her own boat for the first time. The house is huge with tons of room and storage for luggage to be out of the way,so we truly settled in and felt at home. The 3 big comfy couches were perfect for relaxing after long days of paddling, and the kitchen had everything we needed, right down to the ice maker. The owners were friendly and always got back to us promptly, and the woman who met us at the cabin was knowledgeable and friendly. We used the fire pit for smores and star gazing, then enjoyed watching the mist on the river from the dock in the mornings. The location of the house is perfect! It is an easy paddle up to the headwaters of the rainbow River, then you can float back to the house. Everytime we went out we saw fish, turtles, blue herons, cormorants, etc, this is a true nature lovers paradise. The Rainbow river is the most beautiful place I have ever been, it is like looking into an aquarium! I reccommend staying as long as you can because you won't want to get out of the boats."

  • Just what the Dr. ordered!!

"My husband and I arrived here, from Maine, tuckered out and ready to rest. This beautifully decorated and sparkling clean condo couldn't have been more welcoming and perfect for us. It sits on the Withlacoochee River and offers the greatest view. It is a small condo complex, quiet, serene. The town of Dunnellon has a charming Main St. We enjoyed many of the local restaurants. We also found the kitchen well appointed. Many meals were taken on the porch overlooking the water. So many of the reviews have highlighted the accomadations here and I concur! There is much to do in this area. We loved photographing and swimming at the Rainbow Springs Park which is only 5 miles from our doorstep. We thoroughly enjoyed many trips to the Inverness area. We rented bikes at the Sun Coast Bike Shop which is along the Withlacoochee trail. Alex and Jim couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We found the Deco Cafe and The Mcleod House Bistro~great lunch spots. Picnics along the lakes afforded us some fantastic bird watching. We witnessed a red shouldered hawk landing in a tree filled with blue birds and several pair of red cardinals. Floral City is another fantastic little town. We had a yummy lunch at the Art Gallery Cafe there. Crystal River is 20 miles from Dunnellon. There are many things to partake in there. We enjoyed The Archeological Park and Main St. There are several choices for a good lunch~even a lovely Tea house! Dave and Kate, the proprietors here, made sure we were comfortable. We are leaving rested, fulfilled and are sorry to go!! Thank you!!"
