  • Perfect place to stay if you want to hike Old Rag

"We LOVED our stay at this cottage! We got there in time for a nice lunch and then my husband and I walked to the Sharp Rock winery and managed to fit in a wine tasting and a glass of wine before my son collected us for 5 pm Mass at St. Peter's in Washington, VA. It was great to sleep in the next day, have a hearty breakfast, and then hike Old Rag. We left my 79 yo mother at the cottage that day and she had a lovely time relaxing. We then came back, took showers, had a great dinner, and then relaxed some more. We will definitely be back! PS - we usually make the Old Rag hike a day trip from the DC area but that means getting up at dawn, driving 2 hours, hiking for almost 5 hours, and then another 2 hour drive home ... using the cottage as our base was a much, much better plan!"

  • Gorgeous views and exceptionally comfortable!

"This was my first time using VRBO for a vacation and I'm hooked. This condo has amazing views and is tastefully decorated. It was so nice to come home after a day of skiing and sit around the fire with friends. The large tub was perfect for soothing those achy legs after a long day on the slopes; and the beds felt like they were made of clouds. The manager is a pleasure to work with regarding the rental agreement and the process for picking up/dropping of keys is a breeze. I highly recommend this property for families or couples (we had to couples) who want to spend a week/weekend skiing!"

  • Spent a weekend tubing and glamping!

"We stayed here for two nights and it was great! A beautiful approach to the house at night, with lights twinkling all around the porch. The pictures are accurate and actually don't give it justice. You really do need 4WD to drive up the driveway (they're not just saying that). We spent one day tubing near Scottsville (about 45 min drive away) with James River Runners and afterwards returned to the cabin to grill and enjoyed a fire and smores over the firepit. I would definitely return- so relaxing! The house is beautiful too and the owners respond quickly to questions even during the weekend."

  • Repeat Customer

"We have stayed at Lydia Mountain Cabins many times and are always sending our friends there! They are clean and quiet -- the perfect place to get away from it all! We highly recommend staying there!"
