Vid foten av det majestätiska San Juan-sortimentet ligger en handgjord timmerstuga inbäddad i en lund med gamla tillväxtponderosa och bomullsträd. Det ligger längs en privat sträcka av Dallas Creek och ger en perfekt miljö för lugn och avkoppling.

Den 2. 5 sovrum och 1. 5 badstuga byggdes av konstnärer, så mycket av möbler och detaljer är kreativa, handgjorda och inkluderar familjens arvstolar. Hytternas rustika känsla kompletteras med höghastighets Wi-Fi, en platt-TV, DVD-spelare och stereo. Det finns ingen kabel-TV men det finns massor av böcker och spel. Eller uttrycka din inre konstnär på det vällevererade ritbordet. Ytterdörren öppnas till det stora vardagsrummet med ett högt tak som sträcker sig till andra våningen och värms av vedkaminen. Rummet är möblerat med bekväma läderklubbstolar och en soffa. De stora fönstren ger utsikt över bäcken, skogen och bergen. Det kompletta köket har en sittgrupp med bar och ligger intill matplatsen. De omgivande fönstren erbjuder utsikt över det fantastiska vilda djur som samlas nära bäcken. "Saloon dörrar" leder till ett tvättstuga och ett fullt badrum. Trappan "kaptener" tar dig till loftet sovrummet och en-suite halv bad som är möblerad med en bekväm drottning säng och gott om garderob och byrå förvaring. Det välvda fönstret fungerar som en star stirrade huvudgavel. På samma nivå, över "bron" är en antik säng för att tuppla eller läsa med San Juan-serien och titta på dig med bäcken som flyter förbi. Nedervåningen är ett mysigt andra sovrum möblerat med en dubbelsäng med utsikt över San Jauns och den trädbevuxna klippträdgården.

Bakdörren öppnas mot ett stort däck som terrasserar ner mot bäcken. Njut av kaffe på morgonen och vin på kvällen med ljudet från bäcken som flyter förbi. Promenera genom den parkliknande miljön eller fiska längs din privata bäck. Denna varma och unika miljö är perfekt för en romantisk tillflyktsort, två vuxna par eller en liten familj (passar inte barn under 12 år). Du kanske inte vill lämna avskildheten av fastigheten, men om du gör det är staden Ridgway bara 3 mil bort och alla aktiviteter som erbjuds i området är nära. Ägarna bor på andra sidan denna 8-tunnland stora fastighet. Strax bakom fastigheten finns ett vildt 200 tunnland grönt bälte.

I närheten ligger Ridgway State Park med stigar, båtliv och fiske. Mountainbiker kommer också att bli glada med RAT (Ridgway Area Trail-systemet) en mil bort. De historiska städerna Ouray (15 km) och Telluride (36 mil) är lätt att ta sig bort. Varma källor ligger strax utanför Ridgway och i Ouray. Hundratals miles av jeep-vägar tillåter dig att utforska det höga landet och historiska gruvor. Ridgway ligger på San Juan Scenic Byway, en av Amerikas vackraste vägar för bilkörning eller motorcykeltur. Denna fastighet och de omgivande områdena är ett fotografparadis.

Nice spot just north of Ridgway

Lovely owners. Good communicators too. My major observation is that you must climb a steep ladder to get to the beds on the second floor. In addition, I think the kitchen could use some more utensils and glassware. It is a nice spot to have privacy for one couple or a single. Owners live up the road about 100 yards but no other traffic.

Quiet and peaceful

Cabin is nicer than the pictures. Very quiet and peaceful. Slept with the windows open most nights, no road noise or traffic could be heard, just the sounds of the river and nature. Would definitely stay again. Host were very nice and easy to communicate with.

The cabin is really cute and in a wonderful location! We loved relaxing on the patio while listening to the creek! Vanessa and Bruce were very helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend the cabin!

Fabulous Getaway to Colorful Colorado

My, oh my, this home, property, and location were amazing. While we like to venture out in the Ouray area, we often found ourselves on the expansive deck reading, chatting, and enjoying the relaxing sound of the creek rushing by. The home was very clean and we found everything we would need for our week long stay. Bruce and Vanessa are fabulous hosts, very responsive to any questions we had. They have created quite the oasis for guests to enjoy time away. The location is off the beaten path a bit but also near enough the highway to make easy trips down the valley, as I refer to it. We definitely recommend the Root Wings Retreat and plan to stay again the next time we are in that part of the state. Check them out, you won't be disappointed! Thank you, Bruce and Vanessa, for making your home and property available to us. Cheers!

A magical oasis, complete with the sounds of a bubbly stream!

The little cabin was EXACTLY what we were hoping for to get away from everything! Vanessa and Bruce were so accessible for anything we needed or for questions we had about the area. There were so many perfect areas to read, paint, play the guitar or play games. There were even a couple of bicycles Bruce fixed up for us to use. Simply a PERFECT place to unwind.

Fantastic cabin to explore San Juan Mountains

First I must admit that this review is somewhat biased because I prefer to rent true "vacation rentals by owners" and this cabin is the perfect example. It is part of Bruce and Vanessa's homestead that they live in the majority of the year. They are fantastic hosts both in having an amazing home to share and supporting all vacation related questions. The cabin itself is beautiful inside and most importantly has all the comforts you would expect. The incredibly well stocked house is not just convenient but also saves money in that you don't have to buy so much everyday stuff. It really feels like you are their guest, not a "rentor". Ridgeway is a nice little town, but the great part of this location is that you can access Black Canyon NP, Ouray, and Telluride in an hour. Plus you get you enjoy sitting by the creek every night. The only thing to keep in mind is that as you might expect there in no AC. On the surface this sounds like no big deal as it cools down amazingly well at night. We had 3 straight days in the 90s, so took several nights for us to figure out how many windows to leave open to cool down the house for the next day w/o freezing ourselves in the morning. Once we got the hang of it all was well. In summary, this is one of my best VRBO experiences and I hope to be able to return another summer.

Wonderful vacation!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Rootwings Cabin. The owners are so nice and friendly and provided information on fun things to do nearby and great places to eat. We loved this cabin! It’s so unique, comfortable and clean. The deck is awesome and the flowing Dallas creek is nice to watch and listen to. Hope to get back soon!!

We loved our stay at this beautiful cabin. Quiet, relaxing and peaceful to sit by the river. Incredible hiking within a half hrs drive. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook several meals. Would definitely return if back in the area.

A Fabulous Stay!

We stayed in Bruce and Vanessa's cabin for 9 nights late June/ early July. Vanessa was there to greet us, go over the cabin, and made us feel at home. The cabin and the grounds/deck are just beautiful with the peeks of the San Juans from the windows and the Dallas River running right throught the property. The captian's stairs to the loft area and bedroom are steep but very doable as long as you come down backwards. Older visitors may not like this. The bed was very comfortable, firm but not hard and the shower downstairs had great water pressure. Of course, there is no air conditioning but on our warmer days, Vanessa was kind enough to find a fan for us which helped us sleep better. In all fairness, I must mention the internet connection, which Bruce and Vanessa have no control over, but if someone was planning on working, one should know that it can be spotty. It will cut out while watching streaming services and sometimes your phone will have a connection, sometimes not. It seemed to work a little better upstairs at night. Just useful info for those that might be working remotely. Regardless, we were there for the mountains and access to everything was right there: 5 minute drive to Ridgway, 10-15 min to Ouray, and about 25 min to Montrose. If in Ridgway, make sure to get reservations to Provisions Cafe, the best meal we had while in the area, and pay a visit to Bruce and Vanessa's art gallery, charming! My husband and I hope to have our own place in Ridgway and we can't thank Bruce and Vanessa enough for welcoming us and making us feel at home.

Darling cabin convenient to town, close to main highway. Relax to sound of creek flowing by with beautiful mountain views. Cabin is nicely furnished with everything you could possibly need. It was everything I expected and more. I hope to be able to return. Gorgeous area.

Stunning solitude and convenience

Private and fabulous! The sound of a running creek, surrounded by trees, wildlife & mountain views!

Beautiful cabin, private and spacious decks, great location for day trips to Ouray, Telluride, or the nearby river for fly fishing. The cabin is decorated in a lovely, personal way which makes you feel like a special guest of the family. Kitchen was well stocked, from utensils to pots and pans, and there is a very nice outdoor grill on the deck. If you do not want to cook, the town of Ridgway is a short drive away where there are many great restaurants. We spent a great deal of time on the multi-level deck which provides many places to sit and watch the birds, read, or nap to the relaxing sound of Dallas Creek. The stars were outstanding! We spent several nights on the deck laying comfortably on the lounge chairs looking at the amazing night sky. Ouray is approximately 20 minutes away, Telluride about 45 and the nearby river, depending on which part of the river you fish is from 3 minutes to 15. We recommend RIGS Adventure CO Fly Shop in Ridgway to get the local fishing information. What a wonderful stay! The owners, Bruce and Vanessa are friendly and kind and we felt very relaxed right away!

Great location ,cabin and hosts!

We loved the location! The cabin had everything we needed! The mountain stream was so relaxing. We could have fished but chose not to. Perfect place to go if you need to get away from it all! Deer came around every day. Bruce and Vanessa were so welcoming and thought of everything we needed! We loved it all!

Great property, great setting, perfect hosts!

Bruce and Vanessa had our cabin in perfect condition and awaiting our arrival. Everything about the cabin was great, from the fully equipped kitchen to the decks above beautiful Dallas Creek to the wonderfully romantic window in the master bedroom. The setting seemed remote although it's only a few minutes from Ridgway and its great restaurants. We loved our week there and we definitely recommend the cabin to others.

This was Our Favorite Cabin we have ever stayed in. This Cabin is so unique and Beautiful.

We truly Loved everything about this Lovely Cabin. It is so unique, quaint, peaceful, and such a gorgeous location by the river . We had breakfast on the deck every morning overlooking the river with the Beautiful Mountains in the background . This was our favorite spot. The Owners are wonderful and so kind. They designed and built this beautiful cabin . They are amazing artists . It was so clean and such a Zen oasis trip for us ! We can't wait to go back ! We loved everything about this Cabin .

Spotless cabin with spectacular views

We have stayed in over a dozen cabins in Colorado, and this was by far the best accommodations we have ever had. The entire home was spotless and it was very well furnished. We were able to get away from it all and enjoy spectacular views in a very private location--would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the San Juan region. P.S. We brought fixings to prepare all our meals, but ended up enjoying fantastic restaurants in Ridgway, Telluride and Gunnison!

Relax in your Private Paradise

FIVE STARS! My husband and I have spent several summers coming to this cabin for a "get out of the city and get into nature" summer vacation! This "cabin" is set back away from the road providing lots of privacy. It is in great condition and is well stocked with amenities- towels, sheets, soap, washer and dryer... I just sleep better when I'm in this cabin. My cares and responsibilities fall away as I anticipate my arrival and we find that we are able to relax and enjoy ourselves breathing in the clean air and looking at the gorgeous mountain range. Although we have cell service, we are free from television and the constant news cycle we find ourselves tied to at home. Thank goodness! Although it can take a San Diegan a day or two to acclimate to the altitude, the first few days can be spent taking long drives through the mountains or short walks around the area. I like to sit in the hammock shaded by the trees and listen to the birds chirping and the river as it cuts its way through the property. Reading usually turns into napping for me! If you don't like sitting outside, sitting inside with the large windows allows the view to come to you. Then, we love to ride bikes down to the reservoir, raft down the river or take longer hikes up near Telluride. There's always somewhere new to explore! For dinner, we have the choice of dining in with the use of a full kitchen or going out to the town of Ridgway or nearby Ouray. If you can, try to plan your trip around the summer concerts in the park. It's fun to take your picnic and enjoy the music and the company of the locals. When I finally make my way to the bed upstairs and I look up and out the window, I see so many stars. There's too much light living in the city and I have only seen stars like this while on the ocean! In the morning, if I'm lucky, I can see deer feeding in the front. In this cabin, one doesn't really need to go anywhere, it's a park all around you!
