About the property

“I have, as it were, my own sun and moon and stars, and a little world all to myself.” ― Henry David Thoreau, Walden

Clear your mind and relax in all that nature has to offer. Welcome to Snow Goose, a bright open bungalow. Nestled among the evergreens and beach plums, just steps from the sandy dunes of Broadkill Beach. Two bedrooms and one bath, we have queen beds in each bedroom and a twin daybed in the main living area.

Broadkill Beach is located on the Delaware Bay, just north of Cape Henlopen and Lewes Beach. Broadkill offers public beach access for swimming, surf fishing, and boating and kayaking in the gentle waters. As a natural beach, there are no lifeguards. The community is surrounded by Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge and Beach Plumb Island Nature Preserve, making it a haven for nature lovers and bird watchers and other wildlife. Broadkill Beach is an official sanctuary for horseshoe crabs, the state marine animal of Delaware and a "signature species" of the Delaware Bay Estuary. Truly a magical place.

Rehoboth Beach is approximately 20 minutes south of Broadkill Beach.

The only business located in Broadkill Beach is The Broadkill Store, a general store sometimes referred to by locals as the "Broadkill Mall," which sells sandwiches, grocery items, bait & tackle, beach toys, souvenirs and homemade donuts on the weekends.

Historic Milton offers shopping, dining and Night life. The Milton Theatre, restored local venue offers comedy, music and eclectic performances. Dogfish Head Brewery always has a party, tastings, mammoth grill always cooking something tasty.

Perfect size, nice location

  • 4 of 5

The house was the perfect size for the two of us and our two dogs and is in a nice location. The latching gates on the deck were a nice feature to keep our dogs close to the house. There are stairs to navigate though to take them out or go for walks. A bunny and a fox live in the nearby brush. The neighborhood was quiet and fairly safe. At times a few drivers went by pretty quickly while we were out walking. At a house down the road, a speed limit sign went up a couple of days after our arrival to remind drivers to slow down. Only a couple of things were unpleasant: the mosquitoes and some rather large & painful burrs (sedge plants?). The mosquitoes around the house and sand flies (?) on the beach were ferocious! At times, bug spray failed to keep them at bay. The burrs were very frustrating and kept us from using the path behind the house to get to the beach. Our little dog got them in her paws (ouch!) and in her fur. They are very painful once attached and difficult & painful to remove. We pricked our fingers numerous times! We found a couple of paths to the beach, down the street, that were easier to navigate and clear of the offending plants. Broadkill Beach is a horseshoe crab sanctuary. There were many crab shells and sea shells all over the beach. Some parts of the beach were “cleaner” than others. We found nice areas on the beach to take walks with the dogs. The beach was pretty empty most of the time and we saw no one in the water, the surf was rather rough and there are no lifeguards. Getting our feet wet was as far as we went! The house is a close drive to nearby Lewis (“Lewis”), Milton, Milford (dog park), Millsboro, Rehoboth, Henlopen State Park/Beach ($10 & pack-in/out), various great restaurants, antique & grocery stores. If you’re bringing your dog, do your research regarding “dog rules” & beach areas. (We had no problem with them at Henlopen, southern end of beach.) We had a nice, relaxing week and our dogs loved it!

Beautiful home right on a lovely, peaceful beach

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 (4 humans and 1 dog) are return visitors to Broadkill Beach and this lovely home. The house itself is modern, comfortable, and has a great deck for relaxing at any time of day. The beach is semi private with mostly residents from the other homes in there area and best of all, dogs are welcome. We spent our mornings and evenings at the beach when the sun wasn’t beating down so hard. During the day there are plenty of attractions nearby for kids and adults (trampoline park, brewery, wildlife refuge for hikes, etc). We will be back!

Lovely, quiet, and relaxing vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a very relaxing, quiet stay on Broadkill Beach, our first time experiencing the Delaware Bay. The house was clean and supplied as stated in the contract when we arrived. Prime Hook Reserve, Lewes & Rehoboth were easy to find. Our favorite parts of our stay were being able to walk down to the beach and sit on the porch to enjoy sunsets and sunrises.

Amazing Beach Bungalow!

  • 5 of 5

We had never been to Broadkill Beach before, but heard it was a remote and quiet place to enjoy! Not only did the beach meet our expectations, but the property did, as well. It was clean, sun-filled, and the gated porch was perfect for hanging outside with our dogs. What we also appreciated about this property was the simplicity of the decor. It felt so clean because there was very little extra fabrics that would hold dust; such as rugs, curtains, bed skirts, etc.... This property and the owner was so great. We only wish we owned it!
