About Ed White

My family loves Primehook Beach. The kids are growing up and their busy schedules keep us from going to the beach for the summer. I am a retired police detective and now own several small real estate related companies. We hope you will make this your home away from home.

Ed White purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Ed White chose Delaware

This is a natural beach with no retail, hustle or bustle. This beach is a secret! We are close to all of the touristy resorts like Lewes, Rehoboth, Bethany, Dewey, Fenwick Island, and Ocean City. We are about 20 minutes from the Cape May Ferry (even though you can watch it cross the Delaware from the Beach House), and about 20 minutes from the Casino in Harrington. The best part of our beach, when you are here, nothing seems close until you leave. We have internet if you dare!

What makes this cottage unique

Our beach house is located directly on the beach. You can watch the abundance of wildlife as nature intended. There are no crowds...just wildlife and nature at its best!

Perfect beach house!

  • 5 of 5

Just stayed at this wonderful beach house last week with my husband and our pup. Later in the week my daughter-in-law and grandson joined us. The house is very clean and met all of our needs. If we weren't on the beach, we spent our time on the wonderful wrap-around porch, and with the windows open the bay breeze is awesome!! We visited Rehoboth beach twice, which was great this time of the year. Dined at both Irish Eyes and Striper Bites in Lewes and both were excellent. One night we brought home crabs from Copp's Seafood in Lewes and enjoyed them at the picnic table on the porch. Several nights we had a fire on the beach with cocktails....great times! Beds are comfortable and kitchen well stocked. Oh, and I don't think our pup wanted to come home! She loved the fenced in yard, walks on the beach and snoozing on the porch. Owner and property manager were extremely responsive, which is so appreciated. Loved our stay, would highly recommend! Hoping to visit again! Thank you Ed for sharing your wonderful property with us!

amazing house and location

  • 5 of 5

This was perfect for our family. It brought back many memories from when we came every summer when I was young. My parents enjoyed every minute as well. The house is beautiful with everything one may need. Very convenient having a washer and drier and extra shower/toilet. Allowed us to shower off before going in house. It was wonderful having a kayak available, it got used every day. Owner was extremely fast in responding when we had a question or concern. Thank you Homeaway for making this vacation easy to schedule, we will be using this site again.

A private little paradise

  • 5 of 5

Our first time booking a vacation home online, we were a little skeptical. Upon arriving to the cottage, it was exactly as described. The cottage was quaint but spacious enough for us and our 2 adult children. The cottage was clean and well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, towels, beach chairs, grill, etc., just as described. The fenced in yard was perfect for our 2 pups.

This place was amazing!! You literally walk out of the door, take 30 steps and you are on the beach!! The views were spectacular. The weather was perfect. We spent 6 glorious days at this cottage. Morning and evening walks on the beach, soaking up the sun in between. We even built a fire on the beach one of the nights. The beach is private, which is great! We may have seen a total of 25 people, for as far as you could see, the entire stay.

The only downfall to the private beach is that, unlike a public beach, it is not cleaned/maintained. The beach is not dirty, by any means. However, there are horseshoe crabs, as well as other debris that wash up with the tide. This is , in my opinion, a small price to pay for your own private beach. We spent the majority of our time at the cottage but did venture out to Lewes and Rehoboth, which were both a short drive. My family and I highly recommend this rental. We hated to leave and are looking forward to spending many more vacations at Prime Hook Beach.

Nice beach cottage right on the beach

  • 5 of 5

Ed's beach cottage is lovely! The wrap around, enclosed porch was perfect for family meals and family interaction. My two young granddaughters loved the place and want to come back. Having a washer and dryer at the beach was a big plus. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We look forward to returning to Prime Hook. The only improvement would be a couple of hooks in bedroom number one. There were hooks in the other rooms to hang things on, but no hooks in that bedroom. Also, your property was billed as having 2 queen sized beds, I don't believe bedroom number two had a queen sized bed.

Relaxing & Remote & Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is just perfect. Ed had greeted us upon our arrival, as he was completing some renovations...he was very pleasant and helpful. The home has a wonderful cottage is basic no dishwasher, but that wasn't an issue. Bedding was comfortable..The beach front location was incredible...a beautiful view from the enclosed, heated/AC supported porch. There was a great table out there for a nice game of cards and dinner. We made fires each night and our yellow lab Cooper loved the calmess of the bay, he swam every day & just loved the beach. While at this cottage, you are basically off the grid, you are only a 20 minute ride to Lewes/Rehobeth.(however, during the summer months it can take quite some time to travel down 1 South~as we were told by the locals in Lewes and Bethany Beach..There is a food lion in milton which is easy to get to and they have a few restaurants in their town too. Be prepared, there are no commercial properties's beautifully quiet and peaceful. You can walk on the beach and basically just wander as you are on beach time. The Prime Hook Nature Preserve was really neat and we read up on our horsehoe crab was their mating season...if they are washed them out, flip them back over and place them back into the surf...they cannot still or harm you. Just know that the 2nd bathroom is in the bathhouse...which is very very basic but serves it's purpose if you need to use them. There was also a kayak for the bay...which we used one day...totally cool. They could use some more silverware, some wine glasses & more counter space with perhaps an indoor/outdoor runner when you first walk in, as the sand is plentiful...but who cares you are at the beach...Restaurants: Michy's in Rehoboth (get the fire cracker shrimp)...Irish Eye & Striper Bites in Lewes...were all great with super service & happy hour specials..I wish we could go back for Memorial Day Weekend...but he's booked...
