We loved our stay and would recommend this place to everyone. We even got to see a few bears on the property and lots of stars in the nighttime sky’s.

Thanks you for your review, Robert, but did you mean to give us only one star? If so, why???? If this was a mistake, can you kindly correct ASAP? I would never stay at a 1-star vacation rental. Was the place not clean? Was anything that was not up to your standards?

Hello Colleen,
We want to thank you for your very positive response about your experience as our guests at Freeland Acres Country Home. We greatly appreciated your comments and we would welcome your return in the future for a longer stay. Rocking on the front porch enjoying the panoramic view of the mountain range and the star filled night sky is so special. I really liked your reference to The Big Rock - so glad you found it in the forest. Thank You, Colleen.

We had a wonderful time at this lovely home. It was in the perfect location. We spent our time hiking in Franconia State Park and wished we had more time to spend at the property. The only thing that we were missing was a fir pit as we had planned to roast hotdogs and marshmallows. Other than that it was perfect.

We enjoyed having you in our home. There is a portable fire pit under the front porch. The door is unlocked. I am so sorry you missed it. I should have made its location clear in my house description. Nothing is more fun than roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. I truly apologize for my oversight. We hope you will come again.
The home and property were beautiful. All the original accents contributed to the beauty of the home. Convenient to all the sites we visited. Home was fully stocked with everything you could need.

Nice!
Nice. The house is nice. It was fun for the kids to be in an older house. The back porch is nice to sit out. The pollen had settled on the cushions in the front porch and back. So that was disappointing. But over all our stay here was nice.

We are delighted each year when you and your family stay in our home. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Best wishes, Carole and Joan.
Freeland Acres never disappoints! The hosts are very helpful and always available to answer questions. This was our fifth visit to this charming country home in a sparsely populated area in the beautiful White Mountains.
The house is tastefully appointed and decorated, which is warm and welcoming.
Several good friends join us from several other states to enjoy hiking in Autumn color and discovering small, neighboring towns.
Looking forward to our next visit!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week at Freeland Acres. The house was impeccably clean, well maintained, and well stocked with kitchen equipment, linens and games. There was ample space for 6 of us - 4 adults and 2 teens. It’s very convenient to Sugar Hill, Franconia, Cannon Mtn, and, a little further, Littleton. The backyard is nice and big for playing games. It was a cold week so we didn’t get to take advantage of the lovely outdoor space much.

About the host
Hosted by Joan Freeland McGowan
The house has been in the Freeland Family for almost 60 years. Now the three sisters, Carole, Joan, and Susan, own it and provide loving care. We love being there ourselves, and also welcoming guests from all over the world to our property.
Why they chose this property
The house is charming both inside and out. Built during 1860's, the original house was tiny. Over the years other rooms were added, including a second floor bathroom. The property provides pure, cold mountain well water.
What makes this property unique
The front porch has an uninterrupted, sweeping mountain view. The area is peaceful and abounds with birds and wildlife. The home remains a quiet, comfortable get-away for those who want to relax. The nights are dark and, on a clear night, the sky is flooded with stars. You may see an occasional spacecraft, many shooting stars and the Milky Way!
