Overview

About the property

Sitting on the property of Northwinds Adventures, a year round camp, this brand new "Walleye" cabin is available NOW.  Inside, it features 2 bedrooms; one with a Queen bed (linens provided) and another with a top twin bunk and full futon bottom(sheets provided upon request for a $10 fee).  For additional sleeping space, there is a sofa sleeper in the living room (sheets provided upon request for a $10 fee) or space for a cot. White Oak hardwood floors throughout cabin, bathroom is tiled with a standup shower. A wood burning stove is available to take the chill off in the cooler seasons, firewood provided for $5/bundle.  The kitchen is full with everything you need to prepare a great meal after a day outdoors.

The cabin is tucked in a grove of aspens about 100 yards from our very own private Love Lake.  There is a deck for lounging and a fire pit in the yard.  There is also a charcoal grill; but the charcoal is not provided.

Feel free to walk the trails around our 220 acres, paddle a canoe or kayak in our lake, or spend time on our private beach.

Love Lake is a 10 acre, spring fed private lake and there are plenty of opportunities to fish from shore.  To protect our population of native brook trout and walleyes we ask that you use only barbless, artificial lures and gently release all of our finned friends back into the lake to fight another day!

Please note, that during June, July and August we host Camp Luther's "Keweenaw Base Camp" program and at times our waterfront/beach area is reserved for their use.  We will have signage up and will inform you of the beach schedule on your arrival.  Keweenaw Base Camp groups arrive Sunday evening and depart Friday morning so the beach is available most weekends.  During the week, they often spend time off property so the beach will be open at times during the week as well.

If you are coming up to ATV or snowmobile, we ask that you do not ride machines on the property.  You can however ride them directly from the property to the trail, a short, legal ride on the roads to the Bill Nichols trail located about 2 miles away.

Coming Back!!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was awesome! Location is easily accessible to Houghton, despite the recent storm damage. We did Mountian bike day trips and coming back to the property was the best we were self contained each night to rest, the building itself is perfectly and built amazingly well. Highly recommend staying!!

Fantastic cabin - great place to stay just outside Houghton

  • 5 of 5

This place is REALLY nice. It is new, very clean and has most anything you could need - down to playing cards and matches. We stayed in the mid-Spring as the last of the snow was melting (yes snow into May). I would highly recommend for anyone who doesn't mind driving a few extra minutes (all paved roads) from Houghton. It is super quiet with just a few other cabins on this rather large property. Fast WiFi and DirectTV too. We will be back. Hopefully you get to meet the owner Michelle - she was very helpful and even worked with us as our plans (dates) changed a bit at the last minute.

Great location, great accommodation for snowmobiling!!!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed in Atlantic Mine on a snowmobiling trip. The cabin we rented was like brand new and had everything we needed for our stay. Beds were comfortable. Our cabin had direct tv and WIFI which was nice after a long days ride. Located very close to the trail system. Very quiet atmosphere. Fireplace in cabin worked great taking the chill off things after our ride as well. Highly recommend and will consider going back if I head back to the area for vacation.

Great place -Close to Michigan Tech!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay while attending winter carnival at Michigan Tech. The drive to Houghton was just 12 minutes and the cabin was warm and welcoming to come home to. We enjoyed snow shoeing right from the cabin. The trails were well marked, and finding the old homestead on the property was great! Cabin was clean and had everything we needed, including wifi. Owners quickly reponded to any questions we had before our arrival. Would definitely return!

Wonderful Cabin and Great Hosts

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time staying at this cabin. It is newly constructed, clean, and has everything you could possibly need. The hosts also left a ton of information about things to do and even included coupons for us. The location of the cabin was a bit off trail from snowmobiling, but still accessible. We would definitely return back!
