About Heather

I am a sixth generation Montanan who grew up in the Gardiner area. I know much about Yellowstone National Park and things to do at the North Entrance, Gardiner, MT. With my husband, we operate a dude ranch North of Gardiner and he also guides elk hunters in the fall. When we are not tending day rides on horses at our ranch, we enjoy hiking, fishing, and touring Yellowstone and the surrounding area. Call me for more information or if I can help you plan your vacation!

Heather purchased this house in 2004

Why Heather chose Yellowstone Country

I grew up on Emigrant Creek so I jumped at the chance to own this cottage. The cottage is easy to get to, but it is away from the crowds of Yellowstone National Park without losing any of the beauty of the area. It is located near Chico Hot Springs, which is a quaint little resort with natural hot springs to swim in, horseback riding, and dining. Yellowstone is an easy drive for day trips.

What makes this house unique

Emigrant Creek runs through the property and next to the cottage. You may hike the old mining roads that go for miles and follow the creek to its source. The area also offers fishing either in area creeks or Yellowstone River. I love to get a cup of coffee early in the morning and sit on the back porch to watch the sun rise, then go for a quick, quiet hike up the creek. Bliss!

Birthday weekend at Old Chico

  • 5 of 5

Our family- kids and 2 grandkids- spent birthday weekend at the Old Chico Cottage. It was comfortable, roomy, and a beautiful setting on the creek. We loved being in such peace and quiet, yet close enough to Chico Hot Springs to soak in the hot water and have a nice dinner Saturday night. Accommodations were clean, comfy, and had everything we needed. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!

A beautiful home!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the time we had in the Old Chico Cottage. It is a beautiful home and the sound of the river rushing was soo nice to fall asleep and wake up to. The home had everything we needed, would have loved to stay all summer. The Chico Hot Springs was just down the road with restaurant and a little further was a great burger stop. I would definitely recommend this VRBO to anyone visiting the Yellowstone area

Thank you Heather!!!

Hidden treasure!

  • 5 of 5

This cute hidden treasure was an amazing home that our family used as a base while visiting Yellowstone. The home was roomy and homey with enough beds for the 7 of us to sleep comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to prepare meals along with plenty of place settings for large family gatherings. Located about 30 miles from the town of Gardiner and the North entrance to Yellowstone it is set back off the main highway adjacent to a lovely creek that with the windows open you can hear the sound of rushing water. If you are looking for a place that all your family can stay in one location this would be the place for you.

A great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 7 stayed here for 5 days and really liked this house. Lots of space for 5 adults and two teenage kids with room to spare. 30 minutes from Gardiner MT and the north gate of Yellowstone drive but what an amazing drive into park. Patio area off the basement was a great area when we finally got a chance to use it after a couple of long days in the park. Best suggestion for the directions on how to get to this cottage would be turn at the Emmigrant gas station and follow directions to the Hot Springs resort. Don't panic when you see the sign that says turn around in 75 feet just keep driving and you will find this hidden little bit of the paradise valley.

A piece of heaven

  • 4 of 5

This was a great place for our family to gather - it was perfect for the 10 of us. Close to Yellowstone National Park with access to the Yellowstone River just down the road. The patio was a great place to gather with the creek rushing by made for a perfect setting. The house was clean, easy to access and very comfortable. The only thing I would say is that the photos showed a gas grill on the patio and when we got there we had an old rusty charcoal grill. I would suggest upgrading your grill to be the same as shown as it was hot out and we did not want to have the oven going. It would have been nice to have a small fire pit on the patio to roast marshmellows and/or hotdogs for the kids.

The owners were great to work with and we would highly recommend this location.
