About Heather

I am a sixth generation Montanan who grew up in the Gardiner area. I know much about Yellowstone National Park and things to do at the North Entrance, Gardiner, MT. With my husband, we operate a dude ranch North of Gardiner and he also guides elk hunters in the fall. When we are not tending day rides on horses at our ranch, we enjoy hiking, fishing, and touring Yellowstone and the surrounding area. Call me for more information or if I can help you plan your vacation!

Why Heather chose Pray

I grew up on Emigrant Creek so I jumped at the chance to own this cottage. The cottage is easy to get to, but it is away from the crowds of Yellowstone National Park without losing any of the beauty of the area. It is located near Chico Hot Springs, which is a quaint little resort with natural hot springs to swim in, horseback riding, and dining. Yellowstone is an easy drive for day trips.

What makes this house unique

Emigrant Creek runs through the property and next to the cottage. You may hike the old mining roads that go for miles and follow the creek to its source. The area also offers fishing either in area creeks or Yellowstone River. I love to get a cup of coffee early in the morning and sit on the back porch to watch the sun rise, then go for a quick, quiet hike up the creek. Bliss!

Peaceful and Relaxing- Right up the road from the Hotsprings

  • 4 of 5

The house is rustic and inviting. There was plenty of room for our 2 families and the kids LOVED the upstairs loft. We had coffee on the deck and the sounds from the creek were very soothing. It is a few short drive down to Chico which made it easy to go for a great hike and head down for a soak. For the price point of the house I would have expected a few nicer things- (cleaner coffee pot, counters in the laundry room...) a few touch ups to the front steps and deck would make a huge impact- But overall we were happy with the stay and would recommend it to others.

We loved this house. Plenty of room to spread out and super convenient to Chico Hot Springs.

This is a beautiful home. Cozy and comfortable. The only downside was that some of the girls had trouble with the internet service, but I think that is more of a carrier problem than the wifi. We slept 7 people comfortably and had plenty of room. The kitchen was well appointed with all the necessities, although we could not find a can opener.

Another Wonderful Stay at the Old Chico Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

For most of us this was our second or third stay at the Old Chico Cottage and once again it was wonderful! Beautiful and convenient location. Great common room for games, cooking, and catching up with family and friends!

Saved my family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We booked a different cabin through VRBO and when we arrived, it was absolutely horrible (windows all sealed shut, neighbors smoking on the patio, no hot water, in an alley behind the car wash). Luckily the Old Chico Cottage was available and it was absolutely amazing. Our three kids loved sleeping up in the loft, and you could hear the creek running past while you soaked in the claw foot tub. It is a little farther from Yellowstone than some of the other cabins, but if you are looking for a true Montana experience, this is the spot for you. Completely private, quiet, peaceful and rejuvenating after a long day in the park. I love the Old Chico Cottage and I wish I could go back again and again (and we might!)
