Built in the late 1950's, this Mid-Century cottage is one of the original properties of Lodge Hill in the seaside town of Cambria. The cottage was built using only redwood hearts and offers an "Early California" feeling with its vaulted ceilings and picture windows offering nice territorial views.
Enjoy easy access to local attractions, town, and the beach from this convenient, and quiet location. A spacious deck overlooks the mountains and the yard has seasonal fruit trees, which attract animals. Watch the turkeys, deer, and sunsets in this serene, natural setting.
During "high season," the average hotel room price in Cambria is between $250-$350 per night for a single room in a public setting. Priced at $235 per night, this cottage offers value for small, related groups. The optimal group size is 1-2 related adults, with the possibility of 1-2 related children. If your group size is greater than 3, there is an additional person fee. Groups larger than 4, including children, are not permitted. Animals are not permitted.
Note: if you are booking the cottage for yourself and a non-related friend, please ensure that the friend also agrees with the vintage and interior decor of the cottage. We request that you ask the companion to read the description before booking. We have a strict cancellation policy, and so please be sure that your non-related companion also likes the description.
The value in booking this property instead of a hotel, is that you have more quiet, more flexible living space, and some novelty with the territorial views. These are not luxury accommodations, and, so, please don't book the cottage if you expect contemporary appointments.
Regarding amenities...We do provide a gallon of bottled water, a bottle of wine, Starbucks coffee beans, salt and pepper, sugar substitute, CoffeeMate creamer and cooking oil. While you can drink the tap water, the Owners do not ever drink tap water, and this is why we provide bottled water as an amenity.
Regarding the interior... the cottage is appointed with vintage furniture. This is a deliberate choice, as it is marketed as an "Early California Experience." The linens are patterned, not white; the carpet isn't perfect, the housewares are used, but functional...
Regarding the home accessibility... this home was likely built in 1957. It sits high upon the lot, but it is a single level home that may be accessed up three stairs. People who are not used to hiking may find the exterior to be difficult to navigate, as it is not paved. The grounds are in a natural state. Please review the accessibility photos before booking.
Regarding the construction... the home sits upon a raised foundation on a hill. With heavy rains, raised foundations may capture moisture and create a temporary musty smell. This property has presented this scenario at times after heavy storms. Please consider this when booking the property. There is nothing that we can do about this without reconstructing the entire house.
Regarding the bathroom... non-related groups, and groups with more than two adults, may find this home to be too small for optimal use. The bathroom does not have a vent fan, and it is tiny. It is off of the second bedroom, and this may disturb the occupants of that room.
This is a licensed vacation rental registered with the County of San Luis Obispo, and no animals are permitted on the property. If you are intend to bring an animal, please contact the Owner prior to booking for more information.
