Emily is an excellent host and did her best to help us enjoy our stay. She allowed us to have my sisters and their families over for a lobster dinner. The property is very private and although old quite interesting as are the furnishings. I was disturbed by the total lack of shades on the second floor where the bedrooms and two of the bathrooms were. One bathrooms window was high enough it wouldn't matter but I had concerns for our privacy. There are woods surrounding the house although one of the park trails is 50 yds away. Bring eye masks as the sun is rising into the bedrooms and will wake you up if you're not an early bird. Emily stated it has been a problem keeping the blinds repaired as guests seem to damage them. I['d call that a cost of doing business. One of the bathrooms on the second floor didn't have running water in the sink which didn't affect us because we were only four people sleeping there and used that bathroom just for the shower then shifted to the other bathroom for the sink...that bathroom had a tub no shower. First floor bath had a nice shower and great water pressure. M/B had a good air conditioner but it was the only one. If you dressed at night in the one private bathroom at night you would be fine. I was really only concerned about privacy at night when the lights were on in the bedrooms. The billiard table is very old and the cues all need ends. I was looking forward to using it but its not usable really for a serious game.
Loved the large charming house with multiple views of Narragansett Bay. It was like going back in time to the grand estates. We had not been familiar with Jamestown, but loved the town and area. Home is surrounded by a dtae park, so you can just walk to the park and beaches. Close to Newport and ferry to Block Island. Owner was very helpful and friendly.
