Comfortable holiday apartments in the historical centre of Bruges

Already in the 14th century, 'De Drie Koningen' was one of the 'guest houses' where visitors could stay overnight. Since 1995 this tradition of hospitality can be found here again.

Today you will find 6 spacious and very comfortable holiday homes at this location, named 'De Drie Koningen'. They all have the same level of comfort with a spacious living room, fitted kitchen, 1 to 2 bathrooms with bath or walk-in shower, 1 to 4 bedrooms, etc ... They are spread over 3 buildings:

Twijnstraat 13: the building dates from the 14th century. The medieval aspect has unfortunately disappeared because it was thoroughly renovated in 1839 in the spirit of that time: a large mansion in neoclassical style. In 1997 the building was divided into 3 apartments: St-Donaas on the ground floor, St-Niklaas on the first floor and St-Jacob on the second floor. In 2002, the basement "De Vergulde Fontein" was completely excavated. The history of 'De Drie Koningen' came to light and one of the most beautiful 14th century cellars in Bruges was finally exposed. In this magnificent cellar you can attend now beer tastings, small events and Argentinian tango classes. From 2016 onwards, the apartments were once again renovated one by one in order to comply with the imposed safety regulations and the contemporary wishes of the visitors.

Twijnstraat 17: was originally part of a former notary's house from the 17th century in the Ridderstraat. At the beginning of the 20th century it became a private hospital with a doctor's practice until 1999. During the renovation in 2001 all outbuildings were demolished and a patio was created. This beautifully enclosed communal city garden (including a small swimming pool) gives access to 3 different apartments: "St-Jan" on the ground floor, "Onze-Lieve-Vrouw" above the former coach house and "Carmers" on the second floor. From 2017 onwards, the apartments were renovated for the last time.

Beautiful, spacious apartment

We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was well-equipped, with a modern kitchen and modern bathroom/shower and in-unit laundry. Tom was a very responsive and kind host. He went out of his way to make us feel at home. He even offered to give us a tour of the cellar, which was gorgeous and rich with historical significance. He is very knowledgeable and clearly proud of his city. The neighborhood was quiet, and only a short walk to the sights, restaurants and cafes. Be aware there is not an elevator in the unit and the spiral stairs to the second floor are quite steep. It worked well for our family with older teens, but we would have struggled getting to the second door with less mobile people. Just something to be aware of when booking this apartment. All in all we had a wonderful time.

Bruges gem in centre of town

Great property close to the town centre, actually bigger than pictures depict. Clean, well equipped kitchen for those who may want to cook. But the location is perfect, a 3 minute walk to the town square. Brilliant stay.

Der Aufenthalt im De Drie Königen mitten in Brügge hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Schade, dass die Woche schon vorüber ist. Die geschmackvoll und komfortabel eingerichteten Appartements sind der ideale Ausgangspunkt, unmittelbar in das rege Treiben des mittelalterlichen Brügge einzutauchen und zwischendurch in der Stille des Gartens des "Drie Konigen" bei einem Kaffee oder einem gekühlten Drink der gut sortierten Bar der Rezeption zu entspannen und die vielen Eindrücke Revue passieren zu lassen. Abgerundet wird das positive Erlebnis durch die Inhaberfamilie, die ihr gut durchdachtes Konzept durch Ihre Freundlichkeit und Empathie, durch ihre vielen hilfreiche Tipps und durch ihr profundes geschichtliches Wissen weiter aufwerten.
