About Marcel Occon
Love to travel and connect with people from all walks of life.
Marcel Occon purchased this House in 2010
Why Marcel Occon chose Murray
This is a 1938 home, its charm and location made me fall in love for it immediately. Conserving the 40's looks in the kitchen is my goal and a work in progress. Therefore expect to have a kitchen that dates back to the 40's era.
What makes this House unique
Easy access to anywhere in the Wasatch Front area. The property is 5 minutes away from the two major Interstates. (I-80 and I-15)

This crash pad and the host (Marcel) are awesome!
My boyfriend and I traveled to Murray, Utah for part play, part work. Marcel's crash pad didn't disappoint. It was a great rate and location. So close to everything! Clean and had everything we needed! Be sure to check out the hike to the suspension bridge if you stay here. :)
Great place and location
My husband, pup, and I stayed at this place and it was perfect for us! We stayed in the summer and it was great location to some fun trails to hike. It was conveniently located by a huge shopping center and grocery stores. The AC was very nice since it was so hot outside. Great kitchen with everything you need ☺️ I recommend this place
I highly recommend this VRBO. Fully stocked unit! Even a washer and dryer. And pets!
A+ VRBO, GREAT LOCATION! Has everything you need.
clean and secure
The property is great for the price, it was clean and secure and allowed me to travel with my dogs.
Clean, comfortable, warm, good WiFi, convenient laundry room.
The property was exactly as described and Marcel’s communication was excellent replying quickly to my messages, working with us on a late checkout and checking in to make sure everything was good. And everything was good, comfortable, warm, and convenient. The WiFi was good, as was the satellite cable, heating system, and the laundry room. Centrally located to everything which helped make an amazing trip. Marcel was a great host and the property was perfect. Thank you, Marcel! We’ll definitely stay here again next time we’re in SLC.
Had lots of unexpectedness, resolved eventually
We stayed at this property for 6 nights. There are quite some unexpectedness: the apartment was really cold when we arrived (~60 degrees). Central air did not really work. Two heaters, one in living room and one in bedroom, were set too low prior to our arrival. We called and was told how to operate the two heaters to increase temp and put out another portable space heater from closet. Temp returned after couple hours, but really dry at night. Kitchen is outdated (1920's) with no oven, no dishwasher, old appliances, only one small old cooking pot. Each time we used the toaster to toast bread, the fire alarm would be triggered due to over-sensitivity. Marcel on day after Christmas dropped off 3 new cooking pots and 1 new cooking pan. Stove ignition is broken - it needs a separate lighter to turn on stove. The lighter was out of fuel after couple days and Marcel dropped off a new lighter. The night before we left, someone knocked the door a few times, we called Marcel and was told neighbor found a light of our car was on and texted him. But when we went out to check the car, no light was on. Later was told it was actually for a visitor's car. The same night, we were all woke up by the upstairs guests at around 4:00 am for about 40 min they were making noises and we were later told by Marcel that the guests checked out early to get a head start on their trip. Marcel apologized and mentioned he should have reminded them to stay quiet. Overall, Marcel was responsive. If more thoughtfulness was exercised ahead of time, our stay could be more enjoyable.
Thanks for the feedback. As you knew it and as it was advertised this property is a 1940 cottage. The day of your arrival the temperature was 70 degrees, which is our default set temperature, I recognize you guys were just coming from a full day of skiing and had traveled in your skiing gear, it probably felt much colder than it really was. Hopefully we had the electric fireplaces that we cranked up to 85 degrees and you guys could feel more comfortable.
The kitchen is indeed a 1940's retro, but everything is fully functional. The countertop oven just needed to be plugged and the stove top ignition is not broken, you just need a lighter (in the the past people used matches, but we upgraded to a lighter for safety purposes) I wish you could have called me before turning the burner and leaving it on, for sure the propane smell was really overpowering when we arrived. Since then I have adjusted the sensitivity of our fire alarm, keeping in mind that the more sensitive it is the safer we are, this was an easy fix.
The person that knocked your door was the same one that came to exchange your towels, she was concerned that your battery would be dry in the morning, so she pro-actively attempted to warn you. Unfortunately, she mistook the car, but her intention was nothing, but helping, that is what we most do around here, we look after each other.
Unfortunately guests come and go and that can happen anytime. The people from upstairs were traveling back to Arizona, so they decided to leave very early, I will do better next time warning them to be quieter.
You forgot to mention, besides the fact that I tried to accommodate every request and concern (including providing laundry detergent and softer, which was not part of the amenities) I have given you guys a free 2 night stay in the new 3 bedroom unit I am finishing and will be available in April/2018.
Best of luck in your future travels.
