No Parking

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed the house. It was nice but you only get 2 parking spaces and we had 3 couples staying at the place. We had a hard time getting 2 vehicles parked at the house. Thank goodness there was no one staying at the place next to us or we wouldn't have been able to get in or out of the place. This place does have a grill but the burners was so rusted out that it hardly worked. The beds were comfortable and kitchen was well stocked. It was nice that furnished the paper towels & toilet paper for a weekend. They also gave us enough dishwashing detergent. There was enough dishwasher detergent for 2 times. And the linens were furnished at no additional charge. The view was obstructed by trees but the deck was nice but covered with a lot of debris from the trees. It was nice that everyone had there own bathroom. Another thing that I didn't like was the front door is glass and there is no other door to close so anyone can see into the house. I didn't like the privacy issue.

My family & I had an awesome time staying at Rhododendron Ridge. My 6 year old absolutely loved the stairs; those kept him entertained during the time we stayed at the house. The house was beautiful & I loved the floor to ceiling windows. The location of the house was great but the parking wasn't the greatest. I absolutely loved that it was so quiet that you could sleep with the windows open to hear the tree frogs at night. One night while sleeping with the windows open I awoke to the noise in the distance; it was the rain coming over the mountain, & before we knew it the rain started pouring down so I woke my husband to close the windows in our bedroom. It was just awesome that you could literally hear the rain coming over the mountain. ❤

My son loved the pool, even though he had been talking about "cannon ball"ing us but wouldn't stop clinging to his dad or me while in the pool. My only complaint is the other patrons of Echota letting their kids screaming at the top of their lungs while inside the indoor pool & splashing everyone in the pool.

Rhododendron Ridge is located inside of the gated community of Echota. This is located about 15 to 20 minutes from Grandfather Mountain in one direction & about 15 to 20 minutes from Tweetsie Railroad in the other direction. We were able to enjoy Grandfather Mountain (my 6 year old crossed the mile high swinging bridge without holding my hand on his very 1st trip to Grandfather). I can't say the same for his dad (I'm not judging him because he's afraid of heights). We were not able to enjoy Tweetsie as I injured my knee earlier in the week & was unable to stand in the long lines on opening day. (We are taking my son back in the summer so he can experience Tweetsie as I did as a child) There are a lot of restaurants to choose from in the area of Echota/Boone. We did not try anything too new as my grandpa was along on this vacation & he just isn't up for some of the foods we eat. If you plan to stay in this area it is a must that you enjoy one meal at Daniel Boone Inn. You will not be disappointed.

All in all I would highly recommend Rhododendron Ridge for your stay. It is a beautiful house with everything you will need for your stay.

Thanks to the owners of Rhododendron Ridge & Echota for allowing the Bradley/Easter/King clan share this house for our Spring Break 2018 trip.

Well-appointed Tree House in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cozy and well decorated mountain home in the Echota community. It is perched up on a hill with trees surrounding it giving you the feel of being in a tree house when you look out the family room windows or relax on the deck. It was a great set up for our group of 6 including two young children. Each room has it's own full bath and feels private since none of the rooms are close together or share walls. We love this location because there is so much to do nearby for any age group. The whole family enjoyed the picnic spot and creek across the street, the indoor pool (situated right next to the house within walking distance), the outdoor pool (a 5 minute drive) with breathtaking mountain views, the original mast general store (just a short drive in valley crucis), and trips to Blowing Rock and Boone! My parents also took advantage of the excellent hiking nearby. Grandfather mountain and Tweetsie Railroad are also within 20 minutes. We will definitely be back!

Great Mountain Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

Blowing Rock is one of our favorite places to visit, with lots of great restaurants and many unique shopping options. We most like going to the mountains to relax and get away however, and this house is perfect for that, whether you are a large group or just a couple. The deck is a perfect place for a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. There is an indoor swimming pool within a very short walk, and access to an outdoor pool with a phenomenal view of the surrounding mountains. Lots of good hiking trails nearby, and we love enjoying a picnic lunch beside the river at the winery which is only a few miles from the house. This is our "go to" spot for a mountain getaway.

Perfect Mountain Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This house has the perfect set-up for any type of group- families, up to 4 couples with private space or a group of singles. The house has very much a retreat atmosphere, but there is so much to do within a short drive. The restaurants in the area are phenomenal. There is terrific hiking just a few minutes away. We grabbed lunch and took it to the winery just 5 minutes down the road for a fun time in a relaxing atmosphere. We will be back!

Great Mountain Accomodations

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable house in a great location for your mountain vacation. This house is located on a quiet cul-de-sac and it is very convenient to numerous attractions, shopping opportunities, and outdoor activities. A short drive to the Boone/Blowing Rock area gives easy access to numerous top-quality restaurants. Shopping in Blowing Rock was a favorite activity for my family. Hiking trails within the Grandfather Mountain area proved to be a lot of fun for the kids and a visit to Grandfather Trout Farm should be on anyone's "Must Do" list. I will definitely be back for another stay in "Rhododendron Ridge".
