We had an amazing time at Paul's cabin. What a beautiful location. Paul and Mike were both so helpful getting us settled in. The lake is as clean and clear as anything I've ever seen. We were a party of 5, with two kids (9 and 10 yrs old), two parents and a grandparent and we had more than enough space for everyone. The cabin would also work well for two sets of parents with two kids each. We spent our days swimming, boating, fishing and exploring the Skaneateles area. Having the boat for the week was definitely a plus. The whole experience was great and we will definitely be back again. One note for other renters: definitely pay attention to Paul's note in the property details about needing a four-wheel drive vehicle to access the property. The 'road' down to the cabin absolutely requires an SUV or truck with good wheel clearance.

The property has a lot of great things. The cabin itself is beautiful, the views of the lake are unparalleled. The dock is great, and the lake was very clean. Mike, the caretaker, was so nice. But this was not a luxury experience. So many things were broken or not up to par:- The hot tub was on and working, but a thick coat of slime lined the seats. Maybe it was pollen, but regardless, it was clear it hadn't been properly cleaned and needed to be drained and scrubbed. Mike did this, but it took a while!- The "fitness center" is a bench, a set of adjustable weights (one was locked up and didn't work), and a crappy bike. Mike said he'd try to get us new weights but never did.- Probably the hardest thing for the family: the projector/dvd player would turn of 30 minutes into the film, without fail. Fast-forwarding the DVD each time was painful; we ultimately gave up. We'd had visions of cozy family movie nights, and this was a bust.- The lightbulbs! Some work, some don't. They have a mind of their own. The ones that do work are SO bright. Consider switching to a soft white, or adding a dimmer. - not enough bowls (only 3) for a cabin that sleeps 8. Not enough toilet paper or dish soap.Not shown in photos: the primary bedroom overlooks the living area, so there is basically no privacy and makes it hard if people want to stay up. The wifi was truly terrible. If you plan to come here and work, you'll have a hard time. The freezer leaks into the fridge on the right side.

Thank you for your comments. Since we have addressed many of your concerns. We bought and installed a new large screen TV and DVD, a new airdyne bicycle and bowflex weights, remodeled a new lower shower, filled the cupboards with soaps etc. We can't do anything about lights being out as it's a constant brown out problem with the NY power grid, but there's plenty of backup bulbs if you need them. We disagree that the cleaning wasn't acceptable.

Cabin needs some TLC for the price you pay. Railing was rotted and not safe on the second level down. Not mentioned that its 92 steps down to the lake dock. There was a pit boss smoker there not a charcoal grill that was in the pictures. Was a nice surprise but it took me 45minutes to clean it out and get it working. I would bring a dvd player or a source to hook to projector to watch shows on a rainy day. The one supplied is from the early 90s and not working up to par. No shade down on dock at all. Bring an umbrella of your own. The place was cleaned but it looked like my teenager cleaned it. Had to clear out ground bees that stung us when walking down the92 steps to the lake. You would think for the price you pay for the week the appliances would atleast be updated. The outdoor table on upper deck was covered in dead bugs and so much dirt. Looked like it hasnt been cleaned this whole summer. Becareful driving in there. The brush and branches on the edge of trail driving in was not cleared and will scratch your vehicle. I had to clear some the day we arrived. I will say mike was great the day we got there and he was very helpful with all my questions. Its a nice view and could be a nice place with some up keep and TLC. Does look like all the money from pauls cabin goes into pauls lodge instead of fixing up the cabin. Would i stay again here NO. Would i go to lake skaneatlas again yes. The area is amazing.

Thank you for the information. I've adressed many of your concerns: contacted the association to trim back trees on the road, bought and installed new large screen TV and DVD player to replace the old home theater system, bought a new airdyne bicycle. As far as cleaning, the bugs were an issue ecause days before your arrival our pest company sprayed. We checked for rotted log rails and saw one lower stringer that had come loose ... it was safe but we screwed it tighter. Regarding the walk to the lake and the docks ... we show those in our pictures.

Wonderful week at the lake!

Beautiful spot on a beautiful lake. Paul is an excellent host with great communication and his caretaker Mike is absolutely fantastic. The home is clean and comfortable with lots of different spaces to hang out in. Our group loved being on the lake every day, enjoying all it had to offer. Many great memories were made!

Beautiful cabin and lake

The property was exactly as described. Beautiful lake, beautiful cabin, great boat, beautiful setting. The driveway was a bit scary (for me) but the actual drivers were fine with it. Never used the hot tub or charcoal grill so I don't have an opinion on them. Kitchen table was great for nightly card games. Nightly campfires were awesome. Outside furniture was very good.

Cool Cozy Cabin!

Paul's Cabin was a fantastic find for a Fall getaway on VRBO! Various living levels with a fantastic view overlooking the lake and lots of great space for the family. There is a mile long drive on dirt road to access cabin, so need to be prepared for that, but that just adds to the experience! Close enough to town (20 min) Well equipped, great hot tub and amenities. Caretaker Mike is very accessible for any questions/issues that may arise. Had a fantastic time with the family, it's a hidden gem!!

Annual girls weekend for 5. This was a new location this year instead of the beach...The serene surroundings were perfect, a little chill in the air and the town of Skaneatles is charming. Basement bedroom did not have adequate heater flow and the overall cabin needed a good clean and some recaulking but we enjoyed the rustic accommodations. Thank you for a great getaway.

Awesome family trip at Paul’s Cabin!

We had an awesome 4th of July week at Paul’s cabin!! We came last year for a long weekend and booked for a full week this summer. The location is great (secluded in the woods with beautiful lake front views), and we loved the dock and boat. We read a previous review that the hot tub wasn’t working, and asked Paul about it who was very responsive and had it fixed and working perfectly for our trip. We couldn’t get our daughter out of it! Loved the campfires at night and hiking up the road in the mornings. I’m sure we will be back! Highly recommend.

Son's 2018 Cortland Graduation Family Get Away

The house was beautiful plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. The lake was extremely clear and enjoyed the awesome sunsets. The commute down to the cabin was a bite scary at first but became fun and adventurous for the drive up and down to cabin. We were a little upset that there was no TV how every our family enjoyed the spend with each other. WiFi worked great. We would highly recommend for families who want to spend quality time alone. Once again like to Graduate My Son and Paul for their achievements.

Graduation Celebration

We had beautiful weather and enjoyed the incredible views from all levels of the house. Fire pit made for a fun first night celebration. A little disappointed that the hot tub was not in working order and we were not notified about it. Also instructions for wifi did not work and manager did not return our call.

Great week with the family

The cabin is beautiful, especially the covered, multi-level decks, which are wide enough to enjoy even when the weather turns rainy. The check-in process requires more coordination than the typical rental because Paul is absolutely right not to have guests find it on their own the first time. The property manager was very helpful answering questions before we drove up so we brought the right things (and left our sea kayaks home) and met up with him to guide us to the house and show us around. He made sure the twin beds on the lower level were pushed together for my son and his wife. What I didn’t realize is they were a little short for my 6’ tall son. They also would have appreciated a full door instead of saloon doors on that bedroom. We rented Paul’s pontoon boat for the week and had a great time with that, exploring the lake, trying our hand at fishing, watching the bald eagles in their nest at the south end of the lake, and tying up at the north end to explore town. We appreciated that some firewood was left on the porch for us - with such a rainy spring it was a real help with the fire pit.There are few biting bugs despite being set in the woods. Tons of steps to get down to the water and back, but the boardwalks and steps are in excellent shape, and the water is as clean and clear as promised. It’s also super-cold this time of year! Nice grocery store and restaurants in charming town, about 30-min drive. Nice hikes and waterfalls also w/in half-hour drive.

Paul’s Cabin is truly a special place! The beautiful views of Skaneateles Lake are breathtaking, and we loved enjoying meals on the covered porch while taking in the scenery. Days were spent floating, fishing, and swimming right from the dock, and evenings were filled with fires in the fire pit and making s’mores under the stars.It was the perfect place to relax, reconnect, and make wonderful memories. The peaceful setting, lake views, and cozy cabin made our stay unforgettable. We didn’t want to leave and are already looking forward to coming back!Five stars all the way!

Wish we had another week!

This was our first family vacation since our children were little. The cabin was perfect for us. There was plenty of room to gather both inside and out. The trip down to and up from the lake was a bit challenging as was the drive in, but that said it was wonderful to have family time in a beautiful setting! Everything you need!

Amazing property towards the south end of skaneateles lake. Right on the water with all of the amenities you need to cook, grill and relax in the hot tub after enjoying a day on one of the cleanest lakes in the country. We look forward to being back next year!

Dreamlike vacation

What a magical cabin in the woods! We were so impressed with the indoor and outdoor living spaces. We spent most of our time outside, on the deck, on the dock, at the fire pit, in the hot tub and, of course, on the lake. Driveway was definitely a challenge. Also have to mention the property manager, Mike. Mike went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect!
