Welcome to Casa Blanca our family’s retreat from insanity. We would like to share with you the beautiful beach of Playa Grande with breathtaking sunsets, abundance of wildlife and undeniably the most spectacular scenery.
Playa Grande is a part of Las Baulas National Park where the world’s largest leatherback turtles nest. Because we are right on the beach, you might get lucky and see the turtles when they come to lay their eggs or the hatchlings when they make their run to the sea.
We are approximately one hour from Liberia Airport. We are also 30 minutes driving distance or a short walk on the beach to Tamarindo and 30 minutes from Flamingo where you will find plenty of shops and restaurants.
Relax on the front porch and watch the waves break and the sun set while enjoying a cocktail. The house has an open layout with a well equipped kitchen, a large dining room table which seats 12, a wonderful round game table, plenty of sitting areas where you can enjoy your company or read a book while watching the ocean.
We offer daily maid service 6 days a week at no addtional charge.
If you would like additional pictures or additional information regarding the area please email us we would be happy to assist you.

Step off the patio & your on the beach~
We loved our stay at Casa Blanca! Marta was very helpful. Plus, her son and daughter in law own an adventure company close to the house. They gave us great information on the area and scheduled our family surf lessons right down the beach from the house. Gorgeous sunsets right off the patio. The views from the house are perfect. It is not a high tourist area which is our favorite thing about it. Just a short drive to good restaurants too!
Great home in perfect location
We rented this home after spending almost a week in a remote jungle home in Costa Rica. This home was the perfect end to our trip. The homeowner communicated with us promptly and offered helpful information. Check-in was easy. The home had everything we needed (except a hair dryer!), and the kitchen was probably as well-stocked as mine at home. The setting is beautiful - you can sit on the beach just behind the home and watch the sunset. The beach goes on for miles and is easy to walk. There were only 4 of us, but this home would be great for a family. Lots of information about things to do at the house. Close to other beaches and towns, but really no reason to leave. I would definitely return.
Large clean property located right on playa grande
Loved the location right on the beach and even though it was older the property was very clean and comfortable. Only drawback to us was the lack of a privacy window shade on all bedroom windows. They were see through and did not offer privacy especially at night. Unless changed this might preclude us from renting again. Otherwise an awesome place.
Wonderful family vacation
Our family of six stayed in Casa Blanca for four nights. The other reviews of the home were very accurate. The home is older, but well maintained. The location is ideal. Over the years we have been to many beaches and Playa Grande is our new favorite. The sand is fantastic, the waves are ideal for beginner surfers, and during our visit their was very few people on the beach. The best part of it all is that this amazing beach is right outside the back of the house.
When we arrived at the house we were greeted by the house's caretaker, Marta. Her English is not the best, but she was still able to explain things to us. The next morning her son, Marcos, stopped by and spoke with us. His English is excellent. He and his girlfriend Marianna operate a surf/tour shop. We rented some surf boards and boogie boards from them and our 10 year old son had a private surf lesson with Marcos. It all was fantastic.
Our last night at the house Marta prepared a traditional Costa Rican dinner for us. We invited her, Marcos, and Marianna to join us for dinner. The food was great and the dinner conversation was delightful.
Since returning from casa blanca we have shared our stories and pictures with many friends. It is a great place to stay. It is not a 5 star hotel, but it is a very well maintained, older home in an amazing location.
A Slice of Heaven!
Large and spacious home with well detailed kitchen. Great open and comfortable floor plan looks out over the beach and ocean. Property is very versatile with several bedrooms on main level - so disabled individuals can have a lovely get away. Excellent spot to serve as a central location for exploration (will need a car or car service - tour group). For those that like to walk or hike you can definitely get to restaurants and some of the other villages such as Tamarindo.
Owners are very reachable and accommodating. Great to people! I would love to go back.
Casa Blanca is a piece of heaven on earth. I have been visiting Playa Grande and staying at Casa Blanca for over 10 years now. It's my special place to visit where the world slows down, nature is at its best and the weather is spectacular. I have vacationed at Casa Blanca with various size groups from 2 - 10, and the house has been perfect in all cases. Even with a large group there was plenty of room for all. The owners and the family on site are extremely accommodating, easy to reach and great to work with. The location is just perfect with the ocean just steps out the door. If you enjoy a quiet beach, great waves and surfing, this is the beach for you without a doubt. The perfect spot to surf, take a lesson or just be entertained. There are several fabulous restaurants right in Playa Grande within a short walk or 10 minute drive so their is no need to travel into busy Tamarindo if you prefer not to. You have all you need right in the area but you are also in close proximity to go and explore the beautiful country and the many excursions available. Probably my favorite pastime at Casa Blanca is watching the sunset. It never gets old, only better each time. The sun sets directly outside the house where you can almost touch it. A memory that will stay with you for a lifetime, or if your'e lucky enough, you'll come back every year for one more.
