One-story Bayfront home with kayak launch/dock on 2.5 acres (Sleeps 6)
We have availability for several weeks from August 18 - September 8 @ $1525/week. The rate listed includes cleaning fees and linens.
Our home is perfect for a relaxing vacation! We are situated on a private 2.5 acre bayfront double lot with wonderful views, private dock with a shallow water boat slip, and kayak launch. We have one of the few kayak launches in The Plantation. Plus, we are walking distance to the Gulf beaches, new community 70-ft swimming pool, tennis courts, and bike paths.
It only takes a $150 deposit by check and half payment two months in advance by check to confirm reservation with private owner. The other half payment is a month before arrival. Contact us at kath2411 at yahoo com or (614) 252-5733 if you have questions.
Our home has a warm, inviting atmosphere with comfortable living-room furnishings (two new custom sofas), well-equipped, spacious gourmet kitchen (new Kenmore Pro refrigerator), hardwood/tile flooring, plus high-speed internet and 54 cable channels with Netflix, 5 HBO channels + Amazon Prime movies/TV access. At 1750 sq ft, we are cottage-sized, perfect for small families or couples.
Rental is by homeowner, with our rates at a special discount - approximately a 15% savings over prices charged when rented through realtors.
Florida 9% tax is additional, as is a one-time $75 Plantation entrance fee.
NO DOGS permitted except for monthly winter rentals, regardless of weight or breed. Please do not request special permission to bring "small" dogs.
We are located in The Plantation, a private gated community with lush native vegetation. Our home overlooks the bay without having to walk to an upper level to see water, as one often must do in homes not directly on the water. We have the bayside views, but are only 1.5 blocks from the beach side of the island with the community 70' pool/ lap lanes, clubhouse, tennis court, workout room, bike path, and boardwalk beach access. The delightful bike paths extend the length of The Plantation, we recommend you bring or rent bikes. When the ocean side waves are high, you can hear the pounding surf at our house!
A second pool and jetted spa pool by the Resort Village are now available for use for guests. Also, one tennis court now contains a pickle ball court, too.
Our home is a one-story bayfront, newly painted and roofed with skylights, on a double lot. We offer privacy and breathtaking sunset views across Apalachicola Bay. We are situated on a secluded 2.5 acre wooded site with landscaped front and side lawns. We recently purchased the backyard lot and have mowed a 'shortcut' walking path that ties into Lark Lane, one block from the Plantation clubhouse, pool, and beach access. Birdwatching and stargazing are both excellent here. Only three other homes are located off Bayview Drive.
We have a 150’ long boardwalk extending over native wetlands to our re-built private dock, with a shallow water boat slip suitable for flats boats. Water levels at the dock ebb and flow with the tides, typical V-hull boats will likely not be able to access the boat slip during low tide. There is an excellent public concrete boat ramp next to the bridge and several less developed sand/oyster shell ramps on the island for launching your boat. Two of the more primitive ones are located on the far end of the island at the state park (fee).
The dock also has a step down 4' x 8' kayak launch platform with railings to assist in entry/exit from your boat (see photo). Kayak fishing is excellent in the shallow All Tides Cove waters in front of our home. There are also kayak launches in the Plantation at nearby Nicks Hole and at the 'Cut'. Kayaks are NOT included with home rental.
We keep a crab trap at the ready and fish directly from our dock - we catch redfish and sea trout right in the cove in front of our house. Mullet are frequently observed jumping too! Kids can enjoy watching small fish and crabs move about under the dock.
This is our family's cozy "island retreat”, not a sterile rental unit. Our home has hardwood and tile flooring, a well equipped and updated gourmet kitchen, vaulted living room ceiling, comfortable furnishings, sliding glass doors in every room, and incredible views.
* Two Queen bedrooms, 1 twin bed bedroom. All bedrooms have double sliding glass doors leading to the wrap-around deck and the living room has double and triple sliding glass doorways, all with great vistas.
* One master bath, plus two additional skylight lite bathrooms sharing a tub/shower room between them (Jack-and-Jill style arrangement). All granite or custom marble countertop vanities.
* High-speed internet plus four TVs with cable, including HBO. Two TVs are connected to the internet with free Netflix and Amazon PRIME movies and TV shows (entire HBO past series just added), as well as Hulu Plus, and Zulu for a fee or via renter's subscription.
* Two separate HVAC units, allowing a different temperature setting in two of the bedrooms + adjoining baths from the rest of the house.
* Additional outdoor hot/cold shower.
* Large, custom 36” stainless steel grill + smoker.
* Ample covered parking and a circular driveway for boat/trailer.
We love using our home ourselves, and keep it clean and well equipped.

Why Owner chose Plantation
Sunsets are breathtaking! Restful surroundings with so much nature, birds, and Apalachicola Bay right in front of our home.
What makes this House unique
We are not in the crowded commercial section of the island. We're in a gated community, The Plantation. TWO AND A HALF acres, bay is right out front, trees and landscaping, privacy. Yet only 2.5 BLOCKS TO POOL, BIKE PATH, TENNIS, GULF BEACH ACCESS! We are halfway between causeway bridge and Sykes Cut at west end of Island, right on the Bay, and directly across from pool and beach. ------------------------------------------------------ Kath, Thank you for sharing you wonderful home with us... we really had a lovely time the sunsets were absolutely breathtaking... we went to state park which was awesome for fishing in surf and NOT ANOTHER SOUL around!!! your little bit of heaven. thanks again, Janis A., July 2010 Kath, Loving our stay here at Cypress Cove! The floor plan is very spacious, love the wood floors, screened porch and all the windows/doors. We are the only humans on the Bayview Drive this week. Even if the other houses on this block were rented this is still so private. We've been coming here for years and this week is the clearest waters I have seen with the prettiest turquoise color. People don't know what they are missing. Angie G. Oct.2010

Perfect family vacation, wonderful location!
We had a wonderful vacation June 2017 to St. George Island. The house was perfect for our family (4 adults, 2 kids), with plenty of room, beautiful views and an awesome kitchen for lots of family dinners. The kids had a blast hanging on the dock and looking for crabs (we even caught a few!). The adults loved launching kayaks off the dock and especially enjoyed fishing for red fish, which we caught some of them too! Being close to the Plantation clubhouse was an added bonus, as the kids really enjoyed the nice pool, and it was just a short walk to get to the beach on the days we wanted to enjoy the surf.
St. George Island is a great place for vacations, and this house was the perfect fit for us. The owners were very nice and we would definitely come back to this house if we go to St. George again.
Great Rental, Bayside Nature + short walk to beach
We have stayed here multiple times and always have a great time. There is a kayak-level dock where I leave my kayak so I can be paddliing at a moment's notice. The water is shallow so it may not be best bet for motor boats unless you leave and return at high tides. If you want to go to the beachside, it's a short walk to get there. You'll pass the plantation pool and clubhouse on your way to boardwalks that lead to the ocean. The house is surrounded by trees and fauna, with a large deck that views the bay. Spacious and nice. Thumbs up.
If you're seeking a relaxed atmosphere, pleasant surroundings and well furnished property, then
Cypress Cove meets your expectations. Property is well maintained, appliances are updated and
the home is most comfortable. The owners have taken care to meet renter's needs and are
pro-active is seeing you enjoy your stay.
Great views, lovely house
We've been to SGI several times and we have stayed in different houses in The Plantation each time. This house was terrific - the kitchen is outfitted so you can cook! and not just heat stuff in the microwave. All of the rooms are lovely and comfortable - we loved the big sofas. The combination of screened in porch and outside wrap-around porch was perfect for sunning and for getting shade while being outdoors. The dock leads out to a beautiful view of the bay. At night the stars are incredible!! We recommend this house!!
a nice place to stay
We had a great time the week we stayed there.
Great stay on SGI
My family and I had a great stay. Great home, great view of the bay, very quiet setting, very clean and nicely furnished. Easy walk to the beach and the pool. Great bayside dock for simply relaxing and enjoying the view. Very helpful owners made staying in the home a pleasure. If you're going to St. George Island, I would highly recommend staying in the Plantation, where this house is located, as it's much more peaceful and less developed than the central part of the island. The beaches are not crowded and you can go to the 'cut' - which I would highly recommend. And if you're going to SGI, I would highly recommend this house.
DOGS permitted ONLY on winter monthly rentals. It's only a few steps down from dock to 4' x 8' kayak launch platform. Trap bait fish or crabs from our dock. We have caught redfish right off the dock!
