OCEANVIEW Salvo - Colony Drive - If you're looking for a home to accommodate your group with a nice selection of amenities in a great location and at a good value, try THE SLEEPY DOG. Just 3 lots from the beach, access is just a short walk away. The kids will have fun playing in the private swimming pool and the adults will enjoy the steamy hot tub located on the top deck with privacy lattice. An outdoor shower and a footwash make quick after-beach rinse-offs easy. When you're ready to lay your head down for the night, choose from five comfy bedrooms. There are four bedrooms on the mid-level (queen, queen, double, 2 sets of bunks) that share use of two full baths. A covered deck is easily accessed from this level. The fifth bedroom is on the top level (queen bed) and has a semi-private full bath. The great room will please the group with a large flat screen TV home theater system with surround sound and DVD player above the gas log fireplace. There are two dining tables conveniently situated alongside the kitchen where meal preparation is a breeze. Enjoy a view of the sound from the window over the sink. A screened porch provides a pleasant place to relax with the most recent best-seller. If you prefer to eat outside, a picnic table is located on the deck just off the dining area. Sliders lead from the great room onto the oceanside deck where you can enjoy ocean views while gathering for casual conversation. Nice house with a great view. Somewhat dated but totally functional.

Our overall experience was not the best. Due in part to being evacuated, and in part to losing everything we paid. We were there for just over 24 hours. The realty company offered no consession, citing the lease and our mistake in not purchasing the insurance. This felt completely unacceptable. I think it's understandable that we would want to try to find some way to fix the way we felt about losing our vacation. This forced us to try to find the owners of the house and speak with them somehow. After sending them an email and private message, they told us that they could not do anything without causing an issue with the realty. After doing a ton of research and talking to a few people that own houses down there and have dealt with this before, we know that there are several ways that people can try to make things right with renters. The realty hides behind the lease, the owners hide behind the realty and ultimately the people that come down there that, for whatever reason, don't get travel insurance- lose everything. It's a shame. You save money for your family to have a vacation, You pay for it in full. Something out of everyone's control happens and you lose everything and no one else has to compromise a thing. Awesome area, decent house, bad people.

Nice Beach House

Very pleased with the house. We all felt like the pictures did not do the house justice. Very nicely decorated and we liked the layout. The bedrooms were a little small but we didn’t spend much time in them anyway. The only real complaint is it was a chore getting to the beach. The access was close but required a lot of walking thru sand and over a good sized dune. Overall we were very satisfied and would stay here again. Surf and Sound realty were very easy to deal with and the best company we have used so far (we have used 3 others).

The sleepy dog Was a real disappointment and I was wondering why there was lack of reviews

So first day we checked out the house to our surprise the roof caved in on the screen porch and doors to the porch were boarded shut which means they knew about this and didn’t even tell us before our arrival.We look forward to a screened in porch with every house we rent and this was the first time renting this place so obviously the screen porch was completely unusable.Not to mention the fire hazard for this with 10 people being in the house and only having one exit because the second one was through the screen porch down the stairs.Realty company told us it was from a storm that happened two days before our arrival but the pool and hot tub guy told us he hasn’t been able to access the hot tub for two weeks and that’s how long the screen porch roof had been collapsed.The lack of communication and lies were very disheartening and they never fixed the screened in porch during our whole stay and we never received one call and had to go up to the realty company to find out what was going on.Everything else in the house was fine and the location was really nice being so close to the beach but not sure who to blame for this surf or sound or the house owners
