Overview

About the property

Cabin with 2 queen bedrooms, 1 bath, trundle bed, and sleepers sofas.

You will fall in love with this hidden gem on 7 private acres & nestled in a valley adjoining 50,000 acres of DNR Wildlife management area. Excellent hunting retreat or weekend get-away for those seeking relaxing peaceful setting. Wildlife galore (black bear, dear, turkey), hiking, kayaking, Foothills Trail, Palmetto Trail, Sassafras Mountain, Victoria Valley Vineyards, waterfalls, and so much more! We have stocked our home with games, movies, books, and we hope you enjoy your stay!

The space

This is a second home for us and we try to keep it stocked with essentials for ourselves and our guests. We live on a small farm in Pickens County near by and we try to keep you stocked with farm fresh eggs and other staples that are nice to have when grocery stores are not as close by. However, Holly Springs Grocery/Gas Station is just down the mountain. Feel free to use what you need. We also have hiking hammocks, bear spray, bug spray, flash lights, dvds, books, toys for kids, and a first aid kit for your use. Please Note: our cabin is literally in the middle of the wilderness and there is very little internet and cell phone reception. We do have a house phone on site for emergencies or if you need to make contact with us or other guests.

Guest access

You will have full access to the 7 acres of our property and the 50,000 acres of DNR Wildlife management area and trails. Some hills are a little steep when walking up so please use caution. Also, we recommend carrying bear spray, compass, and being prepared as much as possible. It is very easy to get turned around. Our property lines are marked with orange flags.

Interaction with guests

We are happy to make arrangements to show you around the home or how to use the wood stove or access the foothills trail from the property. However, we also want to give you your space. If at anytime you have questions feel free to reach out. We have supplied maps, area information, sites of interest, etc. there onsite.

Other things to note

If you would like for us to put you in contact with a local fly fishing guide or kayaking guide- just let us know!

About Kimberly

We purchased this home last year with then intent to have a getaway where we can go with our family and unplug. There is no internet or cell reception. We spend our time exploring the mountains, watching movies or playing games, reading, going for walks, sightseeing all numerous waterfalls in the area, and beaching it at the nearby Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee. Most recently we have started playing golf with our 5 and 7 year old down the mountain just 5 minutes at The Rock Golf Resort and Restaurant.

Why Kimberly chose Sunset

This property is unique to us because you can be so secluded and unplugged from the world, but within a 15 minute drive you can find yourself at a winery (Victoria Valley Vineyard) a brewery/brewpub (Jocassee Valley Brewing/ Appalachian Ale House) or in Historical Downtown Pickens for dinner at the GateHouse, a bike ride on the 7 Mile Doodle Trail or Mountain Biking on the Town Creek Bike Park OR go antique shopping on their main st. Within a 30 minute drive you can find yourself in Brevard, NC for a fun day of shopping or tasting the local restaraunts in this adorable mountain town. We specifically love the old Soda/Ice Cream Shop and the Irish Pub. Table Rock and Caesars Head State Park are also literally a few miles away down scenic hwy 11 from the Cabin and provide a day full of adventure.

What makes this house unique

Sit on the porch and listen to the babbling waterfalls on the property. Lots of wildlife to spot during your stay while relaxing on the sun porch. Black bears, turkey, dear, and so many birds! On cold evenings we love building a fire in wood stove or sitting out back with the fire pit and smores.

Quiet and relaxing

If you are looking to get away from it all...this is the place for you. Cabin was clean and cozy. Fresh eggs in the fridge. Owners were very nice and helpful. Enjoyed watching 2 bears.
