About Laura Maddalozzo
John and I have been visiting the Sunshine Coast for 15 years, so it was no surprise we chose to retire to this community. We are outdoor enthusiasts: kayaking, hiking, mountain biking are just a few of the sports we enjoy. We love to travel and explore new cultures, languages and cuisine. We welcome you to our private, landscaped retreat.
Laura Maddalozzo purchased this House in 2016
Why Laura Maddalozzo chose Halfmoon Bay
John and I only moved to the Sunshine Coast two years ago, but it feels like we've always called this home. We are blessed to have a property that offers both water and trail activities right from our front door. And it is a pleasure to wake up to the sounds of birds chirping and the cascading waters of Homesite Creek against the backdrop of Crown forest lands. The colours and tides and wildlife are always changing, so you never tire of the view. We think we've won the lottery!

Enjoyed very much our stay. Perfect location and beautiful suite.
Thanks kindly. So pleased that you enjoyed yourselves. Come again!
Very nice and quiet
The location is beautiful, the house is clean and quiet. Laura and her husband are wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for your lovely comments. You were the perfect guests. We couldn't even tell you had visited, the place was so clean. Come back again for a stressless break.
Great vacation rental and wonderful hosts
We had an amazing time at Tidal Dance. The suite was modern and super clean, tastefully decorated and well stocked. Linen, towels and even kitchen pots and pans are of high quality. Situated steps away from a stream and an inlet, we canoed (provided along with lifejackets!) every morning in the calm waters and went on nearby hikes. My 6 year old daughter marveled in the tranquility and the sightings of harbor seals and eagles. The hosts Laura and John have obviously put a lot of thought and work into the place. Lawn chairs were pulled out for our enjoyment and a heat lamp was installed to keep us warm as we dined on the patio. Requests for extra items were promptly attended to.
On our way back home to Vancouver an incident at the ferry terminal caused all ferry sailings to be cancelled. As we pondered our options we received a text from the Laura offering us an extra night stay for free! Needless to say we accept the offer and drove right back! I cannot begin to thank Laura and John for their kindness.
Beautiful place and genuinely great hosts. 5+ stars!
Thanks so much for your positive review, and the raspberry pie, too! We really enjoyed your company. So glad you were able to tackle so many adventures. Your daughter must have lots of stamina. Glad to hear you made it home safely. All the best, Laura and John
It was even better than we had anticipated. It was clean, cozy, comfy ... the 3 C's of home away from home. When it was raining, it was more than comfortable and cozy enough to nestle down, relax and enjoy reading, practicing uke, drawing and knitting. And Laura provided a wealth of information about local paddling and hiking. We had our Thanksgiving dinner on the covered patio under the warm glow of the heat lamp. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, this is perfect! :-)
Sarah, Thank you for your generous comments. We're so happy you enjoyed your holiday weekend with us. Cheers,
The suite was beautiful and the hosts very kind
The reason I chose this rental was for easy access to the water for my kayak. Unfortunately due to the tide there was no water to access until late in the afternoon. I was also unaware that the suite was part of the main house which meant not a lot of privacy when using the outdoor space. Great location, lovely hosts, unfortunately a misleading description.
We appreciate your feedback, and feel bad that your experience was not as positive as other guest visitors.
Your visit coincided with Stage 4 drought conditions, which meant that there was no run-off from Homesite Creek -- the first time ever -- which affected water levels in the inlet. If the tides are extremely low, there are many options for paddling within a couple of minutes from our place. I'm sorry if this wasn't communicated to you. We hope you enjoyed exploring Sechelt Inlet and Ruby Lake, and your late afternoon paddles up Secret Cove Inlet.
We try to be as accurate as possible with our listing. The host site of VRBO does not have a category for a suite. However, we clearly refer to the suite in our description. There is a private entry and private deck space exclusively for guests. We try and preserve our guests' privacy, mostly by limiting noises from above, and making sure we aren't imposing in any way on our guest activities. We would be grateful if you have any specific recommendations for improvement.
It means a great deal to us that our guests enjoy themselves. We wish you had mentioned your concerns during your stay, so we could have taken some measures to resolve your concerns.
Sincerely, Laura and John
Wonderful getaway with kind hosts
We were more than delighted with the suite. The hosts were kind and accommodating. The suite was imaculate and contained everything we needed to make it a home away from home. Will most certainly return.
Thank you kindly for your comments Mary. It was delightful to meet you, at all places, at the Writer's Festival. Hope you'll make it an annual holiday at Tidal Dance! Laura and John
We are located in popular Halfmoon Bay known for its marinas, parks and trails. Explore Smuggler's Cove by foot and by kayak, just minutes from our place. Ride the gnarly mountain biking trails amongst the "Big Trees". Snag some freshwater fish at Trout Lake. Or charter a boat for some deep sea fishing. Catch some crab at the end of Halfmoon Bay pier. Take a water taxi to Thormanby Island for the best beachcombing. Or just catch the last of the sun's rays at water's edge. There is so much to do. We are happy to assist with any itinerary planning.
