Luxury, artsy, and exquisite detailing in your private space with private entrance. 5 minute walk to the beach or downtown. 2 TVs, marble and travertine, a kitchenette (not really for cooking a meal though), a small but gorgeous bathroom with thick Turkish towels, and a sophisticated, inviting bedroom. Bottled water, snacks and fresh fruit complimentary. Your happiness in Newport and in this boutique type guest space is of my utmost priority. -Carol

Carol was an excellent host. The space is beautifully done and very comfortable. A short walk to water front restaurants, Tennis Hall of Fame and The Cliff walk. Would definitely stay again!

We definitely enjoyed our stay. We appreciate the advanced communication and preparation for arrival. We had our own private entrance a very comfortable space on Carol’s lovely property. The impressive attention to detail for the remodel is a perfect dedication to Carol’s artistry. We also greatly appreciated all the extra amenities including coffee, snacks water and so much more it was very generous. Our friends stayed at a hotel down the street but I suspect our accommodations were just as lovely if not better look forward to coming back.

Great stay

I was nervous about using VRBO for the first time, but Carol made everything easy and pleasant. She reached out ahead of time to check in, provided all the necessary details, and showed us around upon arrival. She even gave us a good tip on a delicious bakery nearby. The unit was just the right size for the two of us and in a great location that was a short walk to shops, restaurants, and the Cliff Walk. The bed was so comfortable, and the snacks and water were a very nice touch. In fact, I think I have a new favorite cookie that I tried for the first time from the selection! It was also nice to have an off-street parking spot where we could leave our car since we didn't do much driving. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Perfect for a weekend getaway!

My husband and I had the most perfect stay at Carol’s Airbnb. She created the perfect little oasis for us, looking to escape the hustle and bustle of nyc for a weekend stay in Newport. The location is a short stroll to the wharf and town (with great scenery along the way). Carol stocked the apartment with snacks, fresh fruit, cheese, Nespresso and water - something that was beyond hospitable and we both appreciated. It was brand new, clean, decorated beautifully, nicely air conditioned... Carol was easily reachable via text if we had any questions and she offered us amazing recommendations. We hope to visit again and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you Carol for being such a great host!

Quiet Stylish Suite

Loved our stay at Carol’s lovely suite. From her artistic touches to the thoughtful array of snacks and drinks (nespresso!), and the in-person greeting - we felt warmly welcomed the minute we walked onto her property. We came for Newport Folk festival and walked downhill to the ferry everyday. She even drove us back down to the theater when we had tickets to the Aftershow one night. The weather was unseasonably hot but the suite was cool and comfortable. The bed and linens were comfy and luxurious. She even had dishware available for our use one night when we stayed in for carry out! Carol is an artist and that is reflected in artwork and unique tile work evident throughout her property. Highly recommend this beautiful suite in a lovely neighborhood perfectly located.

Amazing Place with Wonderful Host

Let me just say that Carol, the host, was an absolute delight. She was able to meet us at her place upon check-in, showed us around the unit, gave us advice on where to go and what to avoid, and tips for the weekend. Pros: Quiet, Perfectly decorated, amazing host Cons: Not in center of town where the nightlife is. Have to Uber or drive Summary: Unit: The place is located on the bottom floor of Carol's house with it's own entrance. The house is very large and the unit feels like a cozy one bedroom apt. Being on the bottom floor, you might occasionally hear walking around but it's better than hearing people coming in drunk and slamming doors. I went at the end of Sept. with perfect weather, so I didn't need the air conditioning or heat. Bring a sleeping mask if you like to sleep in as it gets bright in the morning which is a definite plus. There is off-street parking for the unit literally outside of the door. What they say about parking in town/harbor is true if you don't go early. Location: The unit is located a short walk into the center of town. Walking to the harbor is also doable but might want to Uber it back. I didn't and was a little tired when I got back. The area seemed completely safe and would have no hesitation walking late at night. Décor: The pictures DO NOT do the unit justice. It is impeccably decorated with EVERYTHING looking new. She brought the flow of the outside inside, so it feels seamless. Amenities: Carol provides a minifridge full of water, yogurt, and a late night dessert (so yummy). She also provides a Nespresso machine full of pods, snacks, and crackers and jelly (ALL FREE) for a little morning nibble in the breakfast nook.

Perfect Stay!

We loved everything about our stay at Top of the Hill! Carol has a true gift for hospitality. We had a small delay at the airport so we were in a rush to check in, change and get to our appts which left no time for lunch. We were so thrilled to find that Carol had stocked the room with snacks and drinks and we took full advantage of them! All the snacks held us over until dinner time. Every detail and convenience in the room was very thoughtful. The location was perfect as it was so close to the wharfs and nightlife but very quiet at night. We will definitely be booking this place when we return again!

Warm and Welcoming

Carol was a gracious host and her lovely flat is perfect for a long weekend in Newport! Beautifully decorated with artistic tile work in the kitchenette and bath areas, the property is located in a quiet established neighborhood central to the waterfront, Cliff Walk, Mansions and First Beach. Top of the Hill!

We were more than happy with our stay at 8 Red Cross Ave.! Carol was very welcoming and easy to communicate with. The living space was just right for the two of us and had many nice amenities. It was a great location- a quick walk to the beach and town. We would recommend this place to anyone!

Perfect spot!

We decided to visit Newport for a long weekend in February and found this spot while looking for a place to stay-and so happy we did! It was immaculate, nicely decorated (tile and stonework were impressive), very comfortable and in the perfect location to walk to shops, restaurants, beaches and the cliff walk. Carol, our hostess, was extremely friendly and very accommodating. She was quick to answer my questions before we arrived and went out of her way to make sure our visit was perfect once we were there. It was the perfect spot for our little get away!! Thanks, Carol for sharing your home with us!!!

Wonderful stay

Carol was a wonderful host. The bedroom unit was spotless and beautifully decorated. It was well equipped and Carol had the fridge stocked with breakfast supplies and snacks. Lovely Air BnB in Nice neighborhood of Newport

We enjoyed our stay in Newport and Carol's place was perfect for a couple. Bed was very comfortable and felt like I was in the hotel with the setting and snacks Carol left us to enjoy. We could walk to the cliff walk easily. We did not walk to town, but it would have been a good walk to do. Newport was lovely to explore after the wedding we went to.

Perfect place to call home while in Newport!

My husband and I stayed at Carol's place while in Newport for the Folk Festival. Before we even arrived in the state, Carol was communicating ways to make check-in easier for us. The space was visually stimulating while simultaneously being a restful haven after busy days. I'm not sure what was my favorite part, the spacious shower, fresh thick towels, super comfy bed, or the delicious snacks all so thoughtfully placed. I would highly recommend the Top of The Hill for your next Newport stay!

Wonderful, easy stay at an artful and clean guest suite in an incredibly convenient location

Visiting Newport for the first time, I recently stayed in Carol’s beautiful guest suite. While I chose it due to location (it was nearby the wedding venue I was attending), I could not have been more pleased. She met us upon arrival to show us around and inform us about the space, and offered suggestions and directions about town as well as a map for us to keep. The space is immaculately clean, tidy, and a Newport original- she has crafted interesting and unique tiling throughout, much of which is Newport quartz. What a neat touch! Though there is no kitchenette (you could not cook a meal), we did not miss it at all. She even stocked snacks as well as some drinks in a mini fridge, and bathing supplies in the waterfall shower. The bed far exceeded any hotel bed I’ve stayed in, and we also enjoyed the bedroom TV. The single drawback I can think of is that the automatic shades (while very neat) are not blackout, so it is bright in the morning. I actually appreciated this because (1) I love natural light and (2) I was not interested in sleeping in- I wanted to make the most of my time in town. But some people may have trouble sleeping in if desired. Overall, fantastic location (minutes from downtown Newport in one direction and even closer to the Cliff Walk in the other); clean, neat, and artsy space; and exceptional hostess service. Will absolutely stay again for any future visits.

Beautiful guest suite, tastefully appointed.

Carol was the best host you could ask for. As a matter of fact, I didn’t know there could be somebody so hospitable. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. She walked as through the living space and showed us the amenities. Carol also gave dinner and activity recommendations, which were all perfect. I hope to rent this space again and will always judge other hosts against the high bar that Carol set. Thanks again, Carol!

Great place, great host

Perfect location - dead in the middle of downtown, the beach the Breakers - pretty much 3 blocks walk in every direction. The room was very nice. Perfect size for two people. Super clean, and the most comfortable bed, ever. Carol was an amazing host. She seemed to truly care about our experience. Very quick responses, and checked in regularly to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I highly recommend.

Wonderful getaway

We stayed at Carol’s place for 4 nights in October and enjoyed every minute of it. Apartment is very nicely decorated and you will feel pampered while there. This was a very nice &clean & cozy place to stay. Looking for a romantic get away this is it!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and we could not have enjoyed ourselves any more than we did. We were celebrating our 30 th anniversary and we started in Newport and then traveled to Boston, (Two nights at each spot) then on the was home we stopped in for lunch in Mystic Connecticut. The best spot was Newport and wait till you meet the owner. She is extremely helpful with any and all activities that you will want to do while in town. The place is very quaint and everything has been updated. Every detail has been taken care of right down to leaving snacks and bottled water to enjoy when stopping back into the place to freshen up. Located in a very nice neighborhood and only a short distance to the cliff walk. We would highly encourage to visit Newport Rhode Island and stay here, you will not regret it.
