Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 6

This delightful cottage in the pines offers quiet and solitude along with the beauty and romance of California's central coast. The stained glass window's feature of the California Poppy hints at the whimsy inside. A combination of rich reds, greens and warmth of wood throughout draws you into the cabin's living room. Envision a blazing fire as you wonder where that book is that you have been meaning to read. The kitchen invites you in with colorful tile and open floor plan. An upward glance reveals a large loft bedroom. Once in the bedroom you wander out the French doors to the deck beyond. Surrounded by trees, you can gaze up at the clear coastal night while the distant sounds of the ocean lull you to sleep. Look for the family of deer that makes a morning ritual of wandering through the yard. The 'Poppy Cottage' will have you falling in love with the charm of our wonderful coastal village. TOT#6003407

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this very special "Tree House." Every room had views of trees and the quiet area was exactly what we desired. Nice neighbors, great location and the home provided all that we needed to be comfortable. Very clean and cozy! We would go back in a heartbeat!

So Much to do Here!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time in Cambria. We loved the house and the beautiful artwork. It was fun to explore all of the surrounding towns (Harmony, San Simeon and Hearst Castle, Paso Robles, Cayucos and Morro Bay). We walked to Fiscalini Ranch everyday with our dog. They have great off-leash trails. We loved the Jacuzzi after our long hikes. There’s a great Farmer’s Market in town where we bought organic fruits and vegetables. The kitchen is large and had everything we needed to make breakfast, lunch and dinner. The washer and dryer were handy after days on the beach. Staying in the woods so close to the sea was a great, relaxing treat. We'll be coming back to the Poppy Cottage soon!

Charming, Quiet & Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is charming! We had a very relaxing week of hiking, kayaking, shopping, dining out, etc. The fireplace and Jacuzzi tub were very romantic. This is much better than staying in a motel. We thoroughly enjoyed using the well-appointed kitchen. It was very peaceful and quiet and amazing to watch the wildlife walking through the wooded yard-deer, squirrels, wild turkeys, blue jays. We’ll definitely stay here again.

Great Hideaway in the Woods and So Close to the Ocean

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in the Poppy Cottage. The listing description was very accurate. This is a charming two-story, beautiful wooden home in the woods. The amenities were just right. The large granite counter kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated all the pots and pans for pasta dinners. The place was very clean and neat and the big pine bed in the master bedroom is romantic. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi in the master bathroom every night. It has wireless Internet, TV and a DVD player and supplied movies, games and books. The big front yard is full of oaks and pine trees and really makes you feel like you're living in the woods.

There's a fenced-in backyard that was very handy for our dog and plenty of trails for walking around the town. We walked every day on the Fiscalini Ranch a fantastic open-space reserve just 15 minutes from the home.

We loved the town of Cambria and went to great restaurants and especially enjoyed wine tasting at the wineries in the rolling oak covered hills.

I'd definitely recommend this lovely cottage to our friends and we'll be staying here again soon.

Poppy Cottage

  • 3 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed for a week in May 2010. When we first got there the outside was a disater. Spiderwebs everywhere, all the chairs and furniture outside looked horrible. The porch looked like it hadn't been swept in months. When we were finally ablr to get inside (the lock is very tricky), it smelled like no one had been there in a long time. Kind of musty, not lived in. The place is very small, which was fine for just the two of us. There is no BBQ, no washer and dryer & no internet. No television upstairs either. All the other houses we have stayed at in Cambria have both. The television in the living room was so small it is hardly worth having one. Plus it is hidden in a cabinet down on the floor. Same with the microwave, it was in a cabinet on the floor. Very weird when there is plenty of counter space available. Extremely akward to do anything in the microwave. They really need to add some cookie sheets to the kitchen accessories, that is a basic.

I would think that the rental company should have went to the house before we arrived and cleaned the porch, swept and got all the spiderwebs off both decks. It would make for a better impression. I guess I know why the house isn't rented much.

The tub looks great but there is not a big enough hot water tank to fill it. You can only get it halfway full before the hot water runs out, too bad cause it is a cute place if they put a few things into it.
