Cute home in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

There were many aspects of the home that we enjoyed. Three bedrooms was great, though the two upstairs were small, but there was closet space. Beds were comfortable. We loved the front porch and the backyard for evening cookouts. The kitchen is small and counter space is limited. Grilling was a great option. The kitchen sink is somehow tied to the downstairs plumbing and would often cough and spew when the downstairs bathroom was being used. I am something of a clean snob. Nothing was gross or unacceptable, but there could have been greater attention given to detail cleaning. The location of the home was wonderful for walking to the park/beach/lake/town. Neighborhood walks were pleasant and there were two large parks nearby.

Spacious, very clean and perfectly located!

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids) stayed a week at City Beach Bungalow, and it met all our needs perfectly. The neighborhood is quiet and picturesque. The walk to the park/beach was easy, even with kids and beach gear in tow. Also a short 10-15 min walk to Sherman and Tubbs Hill & even Midtown was foot/bike accessible within 30. The kitchen is really well appointed with everything you'd need to cook in - even the knives were sharp! A larger group might miss a dishwasher. On the pipes: yes, a strong sewer smell seeps up the kitchen sink drain from the shared wastewater pipe; it's an old house. The owner has provided a simple and effective solution: there's a dishpan in the sink. Keep it there, filled with a little water and run some water in the sink - it forms a seal and the smell disappears immediately. The whole house, otherwise, was extremely clean - even the basement. The clothes washer and dryer, AC units, and all appliances worked well. My husband needed to telecommute during our stay, and found the internet sufficient. The downstairs is *almost* a master suite, with it's own gorgeous master bath, large living area and separate bedroom - but the 2 older double beds are down there. We'd have preferred one big comfy bed downstairs. Upstairs, the kids were gleeful about getting the 2 super comfortable queen bedrooms, and about the cable TV and extensive DVD collection. We got some old classics in. Non-techies might find having to manually switch the input cables from the cable box to the DVD player daunting - instructions would be a nice addition. We spent a lot of time out on the lovely front porch swing - the sunny patio was better in the evenings after the sun was down. The owner, Dan, was very responsive and friendly. In all, a solid 4-star rental in a 5-star location!

Super location, quaint older home.

  • 4 of 5

First off, someone else mentioned the fact the upstairs kitchen sink is somehow tied into the downstairs toilet, so when "big business" is flushed downstairs, some bad odor comes out of the upstairs kitchen sink. And this is a true thing. But I think this is due to the fact it is an older house, with an add-on downstairs unit----which is quite nice---and the plumbing might not be just right. But we worked around it once we knew everyone's, um, body schedule. And didn't use the kitchen then.

Otherwise, the place is great. Nice location, offstreet parking for one in the alley behind, a good sized yard and nice back patio, and the beds were all comfortable. Easily enough room for 3 couples bedroom-wise.

The kitchen is not huge, but for our purposes it was fine. Seating for 4 in the dining area, as well as outside table for 4+. The owner has the cabinets stocked with all the dishes we needed, and there were plenty of towels and cleaning supplies and whatnot. The shady front porch is a plus, and a nice place to relax if it is too sunny and hot in the backyard.

The real selling point is the location, which is a super easy walk to the city park, the beach , and Coeur d'Alene's vibrant downtown area. I only drove when I needed to go to Safeway a mile away.

Bottom line: If you want a great location, this is the place. It is an older home with a few "warts", but overall I was happy. If you want a fancy house with central air conditioning, a huge marble kitchen, and enormous couches and giant flat screen tv, this is probably not the place you are looking for.

Great location!

Nice cozy basic little cottage close to everything. For what we needed (beds) the house was great. As long as you aren't doing a big dinner, I would recommend this house.

If you didn't need the kitchen the property was great.

  • 3 of 5

The kitchen and shower took the shine off the rest of the house. Layout of kitchen is good for one person. The sink backup when someone was showering downstairs was nauseating.

Our home is located just one block from the family friendly city park and 1 1/2 blocks from the Public City Beach waterfront.

If you have never rented someone's home, there are many things to consider. One of the best things about renting our home is that you have a beautiful home to spread out in. You aren't confined to a hotel room. People that prefer to cook rather than eating out every meal, find vacation homes an ideal choice. You park right out front or in the back of the home and can easily bring bikes and extra gear that would be difficult to have in a hotel room.

Our home has two levels. The main floor has 2 bedrooms with Queen sized beds, a family/living room, dining area, kitchen, bathroom with claw foot tub with attached shower and a small sun room. The lower level has been recently updated with a bedroom with two full sized beds, a family room that has a hide a bed, laundry area and a two basin sink and walk in shower bathroom.

We love staying in this home ourselves, as it has high ceilings and tall windows. The general vibe is very coastal. The porch swing was built by a young couple that previously owned the home. We spend evenings swinging or mornings with our coffee on the front porch:)

The kitchen is stocked with plenty of standard kitchen items, coffee pot, toaster, cookie sheets, etc.

We do not leave items in the refrigerator from previous guests, however there are some condiments, spices, and various items that we do leave for future guests to share.

We provide 6 rolls of toilet paper and 2 paper towel rolls.

While we provide a washer and dryer, we do not provide laundry soap unless a guest purchased it and left it. You might want to pack a few pods.

We enjoy helping our guests with local suggestions for dining, day trip ideas, or anything to help you familiarize with the area.

We hope this helps you in your search for a vacation spot. We would love to share our home with you. :)
