About the host
Hosted by Michael Vandewiele or Betsy Byrum
Mike and Betsy currently hail from Portland, OR.
The horticltural mecca of Oregon's Willamette Valley was the common factor that pulled Betsy from her roots in Michigan and shook Mike loose from a life in Idaho and Utah and transplanted them both squarely in our nation's most prolific nursery production environment. The nursery industry in Oregon is significant, but tight knit and it was just a matter of time before Bailey Nursery's top sales person Betsy, happened to call on Mike, (a prolific purveyor of plants to the landscape industry) and made her sales pitch. There was a stop and start or two in the relationship, but eventually it got off the ground, and let`s say, the rest is history.
Mike and Betsy are an amazing team and an amazing couple who love working with each other. Together they have begun to change their focus from the horticulture industry to the vacation rental business, and have done so with a passion.
They both care deeply about creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for each of their guests. You will gain a sense of their positive energy as soon as you engage them in reserving your time in the Jackson Hole Area, Oregon's Mt. Hood Country, or on the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.
We would like to thank you for considering our home away from home for your get-away. We are excited to have you come, stay, and play.
Sincerely, Mike and Betsy

Why they chose this property
Mike was born and raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho just a few miles west of the Teton Valley and Jackson Hole. Mike's parents were avid outdoors enthusiasts who saw to it that fishing, hiking, skiing, hunting, boating, etc. were an integral part of their childrens' upbringing. The backdrop where most of these activities were pursued was the Teton Country, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone National Park, Teton National Park, Teton Valley, Swan Valley, The Big Hole Mountains.
Mike's dad was integrally involved in the National Ski Patrol for over 40 years holding positions of leadership and training in the Eastern Idaho, Western Wyoming and Southwestern Montana Intermountain Region. As you can imagine, Mike and his siblings became very immersed in the ski culture of the region. It was common place to accompany dad on training trips to Snow King Mountain in Jackson Hole, Jackson Hole Resort as well as many other ski hills and resorts in the tri-state region. Mike still remembers vividly the excitement among the ski enthusiasts of the region leading up to and surrounding the construction and opening of Grand Targhee Mountain Resort in 1969.
This country has been and always will be my home. As Betsy and I have made forays back to the area over the last few years to visit my aging father and other family, and to enjoy the area, we have developed a joint sense of belonging. With every return trip our shared feeling has become more and more part of our sense of destiny. Just this past year we were blessed with the opportunity to establish a toe hold in the Teton Valley . . . .and now, after a lot of planning and hard work, we have a beautiful, cozy, part time home here. We anticipate that we will spend more and more time here, but for the time being, when we are not able to be here, we are excited to share it with our guests through the vacation rental network.
