!!Special!! Cypress Dunes Bordering MacKerricher State Park

Bedrooms 2
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + One Convertible bed, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-6)

This lovely home is at the end of a quiet lane, with over an acre of lawn, flowers, and a wide variety of fruit and evergreen trees, and best of all, right next door to the beautiful beaches and dunes of Mackerricher State Park. By walking up an easy trail from the yard and into the dunes, you gain access to miles of secluded beaches and breathtaking vistas. The wildlife is wonderful...early in the morning there are deer and jackrabbits, throughout the day hawks, osprey and sea-birds are plentiful, including the rare snowy plovers running along the edge of the water.

The walk across the dunes from the house to the ocean is about 1/4 mile and takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on your pace. Once you reach the beach, you can head south and hike a couple miles to the tide pools. If you head north a couple miles you arrive at the outlet of ten mile river…this is a good area to look for seals. Just north of the river are fascinating rock formations with tunnels and arches and lots of mussels.

Watching the sunset from the dunes is spectacular and afterward, it's just short walk back to the comforts of your vacation home. Sitting on the deck, you can hear the sounds of the surf in the distance.

Cooking dinner at home is a pleasure with the well-equipped kitchen and barbecue. As the moist ocean breezes cool the evening air, you can relax by the fire or in the luxurious privacy of the large hot tub on the back deck.

A wide variety of shops, galleries, restaurants, and tourist attractions such as the Botanical Gardens and the Skunk Train are just a short drive south in Fort Bragg and Mendocino. The Mendocino county area also has a growing variety of cultural and recreational activities and there are details available at the house.

The property was fabulous. Yes we will be staying here next time we come to Fort Bragg.

  • 5 of 5

The property was great! Yes it was a bit of a hike to the ocean, but when you are on vacation you should have a little adventure! The house was super clean and the owners sent emails prior to your stay to let you know everything you needed to know. Plenty of room for 5 adults. We will definitely be stay here again!

Excellent home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our two young children have stayed here twice and absolutely love the home. Fort Bragg is one of our favorite places to visit and we are so glad to have found a place to stay that feels like home on our trip. The house is clean and welcoming. The hot tub is a plus! No complaints!

It Was Nice

  • 4 of 5

We had a great vacation but it isn’t really in Fort Bragg and the walk to the beach is a lot longer than advertised. The beach was amazing though, very private, saw very few people out there. Overall, it was a nice place but I don’t think I would rent this house again, kinda pricey and the beach walk was just too far for my older family members to walk.

Magical dunes getaway

  • 5 of 5

Cypress Dunes was the perfect location for my family's long weekend. The house was super cozy and had a beautiful big backyard for the kids to run around. A short walk along the path brought you to the most magical place we'd ever seen, Dunes as far as the eye could see. We played and played, and seemed to be the only people on Earth. A short drive from the town of Fort Bragg and Sea Glass Beach. We really can't wait to go back again!

Clean, quiet, peaceful place to stay.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. It was so peaceful and quiet. Very pretty yard with huge trees. House was very clean and very nice. Felt like home. Little bit of a walk to the ocean, but very enjoyable. Lots of things to look at on the way. Loved it! We definitely will be back.
