About the property

Cottage, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3)

Casita Seco is located on an acre of pasture land and within a short walk to the quaint town of arroyo seco. This studio rental has mountain views from every window surrounded by pasture land and an organic farm. Casita Seco is a short distance to the Taos Ski Valley on one end and the Town of Taos on the other. At least four restaurants are within walking distance along with galleries and shops.

Casita Seco is an Adobe studio with Southwestern charm. Saltillo tile floors keep this studio cool in the summer, in floor heating keeps it cozy in the winter. The kitchen is fully equipped.

Fun activities for all ages in the Taos area include: skiing, snowboarding, mountain and desert hiking to rivers and waterfalls, rock climbing (we can help with reservations), whitewater rafting and kayaking, hot air ballooning, golf, tennis, and mountain biking. World class restaurants, shops, a cinema, including a weekly art film series, museums, art galleries, classes, and workshops. Something for everyone.

The Taos Ski Valley has many fun events throughout the Winter; the Taos Film Festival takes place in March; the World Poetry Bout in June; the Solar Music Festival in July; the Fall Arts Festival in September; Mountain Film Festival and the Balloon Festival in October. Visit the Taos Pueblo the oldest continually occupied structure in North America with tours and several festivals open to the public.

Considering the location signage would benefit the traveler and please don't arrive after dark the first time. There is virtually no outside area other than the small table area and the driveway. Inside only comfortable seating for one. This arrangement can best be described as feeling like a motel without the fringe benefits of a motel. My fault I should have spent $20 more and had a cabin with seating, a fireplsce, and a tv. Does have WiFi strong enough to stream netflix or playstation vue so take your laptop.

The area of Taos & Arroyo Seco are among my favorite places on earth so even with the less than optimal lodging arrangements we will be back soon, will just stay in a more secluded cabin or a more inclusive hotel.

By the way if you do stay here with 3 people don't sit in the blue chair with he straw bottom, the bottom is rotted and you will probably fall through. I covered with baggage so we didn't forget and sit on it.

Owner's Response: Sorry about the chair, It has been replaced. The casita sleeps 3, the third being a child on the blow up bed. The place is too small for 3 adults, and I would never let 3 adults stay. It seems as though most people have been happy with that scenario. I don't hide anything on VRBO. The casita is as described. Although the privacy area is mostly in the front, we move the chairs and table to the back in the winter. When the sun hits the South side of the house, you can sit out in your shorts and t-shirt in the sun, and an extremely cold day can feel like a summer day. The neighbors, all acres away, are lovely people, all organic farmers. The outside area is shared. We are on two acres of land with 3 houses. We encourage guests to eat out of the gardens and green house and kids play on the outside play set. I apologize if you had problems finding the casita. The road is signed, and directions are clear. I am always available by phone for the guest when they are coming into town to make sure they found the casita. I did feel as though we did not have good communication.
