Wonderful stay, great location

We have a wonderful girls getaway here! Lovely house, plenty of room to spread out. They offer lots of options to entertain you while there: patio, bikes, kayak, ect. So close to downtown Sister Bay and the beach. Great place to stay!

Sister Bay family trip

We enjoyed staying at this tastefully updated home. The beds were comfortable & it had so many nice touches like a fire pit, bikes and lots of games! It was situated in a perfect location within walking distance to downtown Sister Bay!

Fall Stay in Sister Bay

Modern Dorr was a great location & provided roomy accommodations for our family of 4 during a recent fall stay in Sister Bay. Very clean, had everything we needed, lots of fun board games provided and a friendly and responsive host. Would highly recommend!

Location was perfect!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Modern Dorr! The location was perfect -- we loved that we could enjoy all that Sister Bay has to offer (beach/waterfront, restaurants, live music, etc.), and after a quick few minute walk we were back to a super private and peaceful "home". The amenities and accommodations didn't lack a thing...absolutely everything we needed (or could think of!) was supplied. Sarah provided recommendations for things to do and places to eat which we also found very helpful. We'd absolutely stay here again!

Excellent Accomodation For Our Family

We are 4 adults and two children, and this house suited us perfectly. Spacious, comfortable, modern kitchen and bathrooms. Lovely outdoor spaces, too. We loved it.

Perfect accommodation for our family

I guess our straight 5-star ratings in every category above pretty much sum it up. This house is spacious, spotless, and comfortable. And lovely! Sarah is a perfect host, answering each communication quickly, and generally being an extremely helpful and accommodating person to work with. We love staying here, and as tempting as it would be to gatekeep "our secret" (ha), we must share the love!

Great place

Super location - walkable to anything in sister bay. The house was clean and very well appointed. We didn’t cook, but the kitchen was well stocked. And coffee lovers like me will be happy with the options. Very highly recommend!!

Amazing Sister Bay Vacation

This was our second time staying at this wonderful home! It was another awesome vacation for our family. The house is in a perfect location, an easy walk to get to all of the fun in Sister Bay. Plenty of space for our family of four. We enjoyed being able to make a few meals at the home and also had fun using the fire pit to make S’mores. Easy check in/check out process and great hosts. We would definitely would recommend this home…we are already talking about finding a time to book another stay!

Perfect Labor Day Weekend

Our family (my husband, 9YO son, and parents) stayed at Sarah and Adam's beautiful home over Labor Day weekend. It was the perfect getaway from Milwaukee for a long weekend. The convenient and scenic stroll from Modern Dörr into Sister Bay was the ideal start to each day to fetch coffee and breakfast. Modern Dörr had everything we needed/wanted and more to make our stay memorable. We are already looking forward to our next visit and would heartily recommend the Modern Dörr cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay in beautiful Sister Bay!

Modern and Convenient Door

The property looked exactly like the pictures. The house was about 2 blocks or a 5 min walk to the Main Street in Sister Bay which made it convenient when at the beach or if you needed to go back and get something. We have rented many houses and this one has been the best so far. The beds were comfortable, the house is clean, lots of toiletries provided, the kitchen had everything you would need, bikes, kayak and paddle board. We never thought we were missing anything. The hosts checked in with us and were available for questions. If you are looking for a place to stay while in Door County this it!

Amazing Sister Bay Home!

We had an awesome time during our recent stay at Modern Dorr! The location is perfect…we enjoyed being able to walk to the downtown and beach area every day. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed being able to cook some of our meals at home and had fun using the fire pit for s’mores. Sarah and Adam were wonderful hosts with excellent communication. Check in and check out was super easy. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and look forward to coming back soon! Late Summer

Our family enjoyed a week at this wonderful home in late August. Check in was super easy and the home was very clean. The hosts were kind to have a welcome package with coffee and other items to welcome us. As a coffee drinker you can’t ask for more options to prepare your morning brew. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes/utensils, the beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were great and no issues with the WiFi. There is also a nice backyard with seating to enjoy the outdoors. The location is a five minute walk to all there is to offer in Sister Bay, including the beach. The hosts were very responsive to a request to extend the stay. Would definitely stay again!

Perfect Location - Cute Cottage

We had a wonderful week in Sister Bay, and very much enjoyed our stay at this property. The location was very walkable to everything we needed or wanted to do. The kitchen was well-equipped, so we did not need to purchase or bring many things for our stay. We did not give it 5 stars, as there were things that, for the price, we would have expected. The floors were dirty (had to wash feet every night before bed), there were household chemicals and cleaning supplies in places where little kids could easily access, we had to supply our own wood for bonfires, etc. These are mostly little things that were relatively easy to take care of. However, I just would not expect to have to do that for this price. All that said, we did enjoy our stay, and you really cannot beat this location for accessibility to downtown Sister Bay.

Wonderful Retreat!

From the moment we walked in the door, we felt pleasantly overwhelmed by the cleanliness, the decorating and the warmth! Every corner had something that made us feel at home from the Pear Cider and Granola awaiting us on the table, to the books/wall hangings of Door County, a closet full of games to the welcoming bedrooms with hand rolled towels, extra blankets and specialty soaps/shampoos. The kitchen had everything you could think of for preparing meals and snacks. The owners definitely put a lot of time and energy into every detail. We, along with the other 2 couples, had a fabulous time making memories we will have forever. The best part - it is 2 blocks from the main downtown restaurants, pubs and beach! We were able to walk to every one of our destinations! We will definitely be promoting this wonderful getaway to our family and friends! We cannot wait to return! Thank you for everything!

Our Door County story began as young children when we would both take the scenic drive up Highway 42 from Green Bay with our families to camp, hike, bike, kayak, and explore the peninsula.

After meeting in 2010, we found out we not only shared a passion for food, travel, and adventure; but also Door County. After several years of vacationing together on the peninsula we make our dream a reality and purchased Modern Dörr Cottage. The name pays homage to Door County's Scandinavian influence and our love for Scandinavian modern design.
