Templeton is a quaint and quiet town reminiscent of times past, located at the midpoint between San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles. Each town offers a wide choice of restaurants, cafes, and bars just a short drive away, with local wineries even closer.
Please keep in mind that central coast wines have a tendency to be high in alcohol content. It is highly recommended that you ensure you have a designated driver or make use of the following services:
- Uber/Lyft - Paso Robles has an abundance of drivers available, so be sure to download the apps to make use of their services. - Destination Drivers - where a driver takes you out in your own car. - Uncorked Wine Tours - our personal favorite wine tour company. - Hop On Beer Tours - for a customizable tour that includes beer, wine, or distilleries.

This was a perfect location to Twin Hospital and restaurants. It was actually in the same neighborhood as my cousin, which was a wonderful surprise. The room was clean and well-stocked. I would definitely stay again!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The house was fabulous. The backyard was nice, too. We had our dog with us, so the fenced yard was really great. We had such an awesome time. We definitely recommend this property and hope to visit and stay here again.
Toilet was broken in one of the bathrooms when we arrived. Paula did a great job of getting us a plumber there as soon as she could. There was no wine opener which was disappointing since we were in wine country lol. Had to run to gas station down the street to get one Dishes didn’t seem as clean as they could have been. There were sheets and towels in the dryer and not enough placemats for 6 ppl. Other than that it was a cozy home and would definitely stay there again.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Overall poor experience - the place was not cleaned after the previous guests had left, and it was difficult to reach the hosts. We asked if it was possible to do an earlier check in but received zero responses entire day, so by the time we finally did check in around 5:30pm we were completely shocked that all the bed sheets were gone, left over food was still in the fridge, hair in the sink, and worse - no toilet paper in the second bathroom. I called the number that was provided with the check in instructions day prior, but they were not reachable. It wasn’t until I started texting and sending photos that the second co-host finally responded and said the cleaning person did not show up, and that these things happen “because we are all human” left a bad impression of accountability. She offered sending the cleaning staff to go over at that point to clean (we did not want a cleaning team in here during our time we wanted to relax before dinner), or cancelling our stay and having us book else where (we had already brought our suit cases in and did not want to find a new place to book shortly before dinner time as we were already exhausted), or refund the cleaning fee. We chose the last option as the best at the time, but did not realize just how bad our experience would be during the night when one of our friends couldn’t find any comforter to use and was shivering throughout. If I were hosting, I would have refunded more than the cleaning fee.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. We understand why you feel additional compensation would have been appropriate, and we don’t dismiss that frustration.
Once we were made aware of the issue, we offered multiple options in real time — including immediate cleaning service, a full cancellation with a full refund so you could relocate, or a refund of the cleaning fee. You chose the cleaning fee refund at the time, which was promptly issued.
While we regret that this situation impacted your stay, we made every effort to provide fair and reasonable resolutions in the moment and to respect your decision at that time. This was an isolated incident, and we’ve since taken steps to prevent it from happening again.
The neighborhood is safe and convenient. There is parking, and the house has the number of bedrooms and bathrooms listed. The listing is mostly accurate. Some items seemed overlooked, not cared for, or not cleaned appropriately. For example, towels were in the dryer, ants were in the main bathroom, and lime scale was throughout the en suite shower and the coffee maker. The outdoor garbage was full and seemed not to have been taken out in a whilee. The kitchen is stocked, but some of the basics needed to cook (salt, cooking oil, etc.) were missing. We were also unable to enjoy the firepit as the lighter we needed wasn't provided in the house. Communication with the property manager was ok. They responded pretty quickly sometimes, and other times didn't. We had quite a rainfall while in the house, and the window above the master bed leaked. Though we could use items in the house to catch the water and cleaned it up fairly well, we weren't offered any concessions for our efforts.Overall, it was not a terrible stay, and we enjoyed our time in the area. However, if you have similar options at the same price point, I'd consider them next time.
We decided to head up to Paso for a little getaway (Oct 2022). It was myself, my hubby, my Dad, Step Mom & our 2 huskies! The home is as pictured, had tons of amenities. We cooked most days & the kitchen had everything we needed. Pauline was a great help on a couple of suggestions like nearby wineries we might like to check out & a pizza place called Griff's since we wanted to make the day, we arrived easy on dinner. Griff's gets 2 thumbs up. The back yard has 3 different ways to enter from the house. The master bedroom being one of them made it really easy for us to let the dogs out in the middle of the night to potty. The yard is fully fenced in with no escape routes...as if you know huskies.... they can be escape artists. Both inside the home & the yard were cozy, inviting & beautiful. I will be marking this as one of my favorites & going back.
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star for cleanliness was the back furniture was a bit dirty & needed to be wiped down before use but after our stay I realized many people probably just used the fire pit during this time of year & ate inside as we did because it cools down in the evening. I am sure during warmer month it is all tip top clean like the rest of the home.
Pauline was on top of any & all questions thru VRBO messaging & text. One of the best owner/mangers I have dealt with. I can not wait to go back.
My husband, pup, and I truly enjoyed our stay in Templeton. The home was great and the backyard was fabulous. We had our pup with us, and he loved the grass in the back. We greatly appreciated the yard was fully fenced and well lit. Plenty of counter top for prep, but it is a little tight around the island. This home would work well for for one or two couples, especially those looking to visit 46 West wineries. Niner was maybe 8 minutes away.
Loved staying here for our family vacation. The backyard is wonderful and the house was spacious and very clean. I would consider staying here again if we ever want to visit the area again.
My friends and I had a great stay at this property. Very clean and convenient location to wineries, etc. Pauline was very responsive to any questions we had. Can't wait to come back!
The house is in a great location. Close to wineries and downtown. Love the outside are and fire pit. Our house was very nice and helpful. Had a great time!
