Experience country living near the historic town of Templeton, exactly half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. This is the heart of the central coast wine country. The Lupine Ranch consists of 300 private acres of oak covered rolling hills - which guests can use for long hikes and relaxed picnics.
The Guest House at Lupine Ranch has two bedrooms, each with a king bed, and 2 full baths, a full kitchen and an expansive living area. The house has a tree shaded patio with great views perfect for afternoon lounging, evening barbecues and late night star gazing. There is also fire pit (winter only) and a regulation bocce court.
Activities include wine tasting at nearby world class wineries, bicycling on the backcountry roads, or golf at any of the areas challenging courses. Visit one of the areas renowned farmer's market full of fresh local produce, meats, breads, and other goods. Drive to the coastal towns of Cambria, Morro Bay, or San Simian, only +/-40 miles away, and visit the stunning coastline or Hearst Castle. Activities such as wine tours, kayaking and horseback riding can be arranged through local companies.
The Central Coast wine country offers activities year round. Summer turns the hills golden brown and brings outdoor concerts, the California Mid-State Fair. Grape harvest marks the fall when local wineries buzz with activity. Winter rains make for cozy weekends. In spring the hills turn green and the wildflowers are fantastic.
Whenever you decide to come, we will help make your stay one to remember.
For additional housing options on the Lupine Ranch please visit the Wine Country Ranch House, VRBO #467860, for a larger, more private venue. Both houses are available together for larger groups, Family reunions, or company retreats. Please contact the owner for more details.
We met some friends from England here for some rest and relaxation. That is exactly what we got. Will Woolley was a gracious host. He made us feel very welcome. The house was perfect for this type of getaway. It's not luxurious, but very comfortable. We were very pleased with it. I really like the fact he had a charcoal grill in addition to gas (as a competition grill man, I abhor gas). There is somewhat of a drive if you want to go to places of interest in the area. But hey, we didn't go here for urban convenience. No wifi. But it's good to unplug from time to time.
We would definitely visit here again. I highly recommend it to others.
Love coming here. The surroundings are so beautiful and serene. We have stayed here several times now and the house has everything you need. The owner is there for you whatever your needs are. We have stayed in all the seasons now and love it just the same. Can't wait to go again.
My family of four spent two wonderful nights at the Lupine Ranch guest house, what a treat! The house was very spacious with two main living spaces, two bedrooms, two full baths, a laundry room, tons of closet space, a boccie ball court, fire pit, patio with endless views and lots of room to roam. We brought our bikes and biked the property, we hiked off trail up the many hills, we picnicked on the property and talked to the horses. We watched the cows graze, tossed the ball around, roasted marshmallows and watched the sun set. The house is not fancy but very comfortable and everything we needed was there. The owner, Will. was always available by phone or text and he lives close by so he was able to stop by if we needed something. The area is great for exploring. It is close to family friendly wineries, SLO, Paso, and the ocean. We are so glad we stayed here and look forward to our next visit!
We rented the Lupine Guest House for a couples weekend while we attended the Paella Festival and toured the local vineyards and brew pubs. This place is huge- we could have gone the whole weekend without seeing each other! The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house with a sitting area on one side with the kitchen and a living room on the other side of the house that could be used as a large bedroom for families with kids. We spent most of our time on the porch & patio enjoying the views and playing bocci ball on the court out back. There are great trails to walk on this expansive property and an oak covered hill behind the house (great hike to view the sunset). There are 6 nosey neighbors(horses) that occasionally stop by. Hey- No TV! Makes you talk to each other...What a concept! We will definitely come back.
We rented this place together with the main house on the hill, VRBO #467860 for a very special occasion, my son's wedding rehearsal dinner last April 28th. The event was held outside the main house under the oak trees but we use this place to accommodate our extra family members. With these two houses, we were able to sleep in 16 people on comfortable beds, couches & folding beds with plenty of space for more. Will, the owner was very accommodating and making sure that our stay was pleasant & "perfect". The place is very peaceful, great location, wide open spaces to walk, bike & explore. Will definitely come again....hopefully SOON !!!
My family and I enjoyed the property and the house. The house is significantly bigger that I expected the house is set up with 2 living spaces on each side of the house along with a bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen is on one side, if you plan on cooking at the house I would recommend bringing additional pots and pans, pretty much everything else you need is there. We stayed for 3 nights for a family getaway to enjoy the wine country and made a quick trip to Herst Castel, and some local winery's but relaxed and played boche ball in the back yard and grilled. There is no TV to distract from enjoying the people your with we played games. The sunset was beautiful and you feel like you have escaped the hussel and bussel of everyday life. Great place to stay!
