About Eileen

This house was an accident! We had purchased the home next door in 2005 and a family member bought the lot this house sits on. After 2 years and finally getting approvals and permits, they decided to sell and we took over ownership.

From the beginning we wanted to build the perfect casual yet nicely appointed retreat for ourselves and others. We sold the adjacent home called Sunset Shores and manage it so both homes can be rented together for groups up to 25.

Eileen purchased this house in 2007

Why Eileen chose Michigan

We love Lake Michigan! We rented Lake Michigan vacation homes for over 18 years before we bought and became stewards of the lake. We love the sounds, the smells, the views and most especially the calm, peaceful feeling of being up north.

What makes this house unique

This home is loved by all because it is surrounded by trees yet right on the water. The details are top quality and everyone loves having their own bath.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We spend 3 days in this beautiful house . For 10 of us was enough space to be together for dinner or get lost in house to read a book if you want to be alone .

The views from every room are breathtaking! We fall in sleep under sound of waves . The weather was so nice and have a coffee in the morning on deck and listen to the birds and lake. Priceless!!!!

The 3 story house is very clean. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with powder room - very nice.

There're a lot of activities in the area. We did a long bike ride one day. Next day we hiked 10 mile walk on Manistee river trail.

It was so nice to come back after long day, make diner, and enjoy food on the deck watching sunset on Lake Michigan.

Eileen is extremely nice to deal with. She responds promptly to any of all questions.

House has everything you may need: kitchen supplies, beach chairs, charcoal grill, games and you can stream a music around whole house .

You can visit this house in every time of the Year and you will fell in love with the beauty of the place. We hope to say here again and very soon.

We will be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOTE FROM OWNER: Guest asked me to post this. She also gave our home 5 stars but I couldn't add that since I'm posting for the guest. Thanks Vera!!

Luxury and comfort

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I get together once a year to catch up and we're always looking for just the right place to relax and enjoy our time together. Eagle Shores fit the bill! The home was perfect. Beds were comfy, the kitchen was well appointed, and there is a perfect fireplace for the cooler evenings and the setting could not have been better. We stayed here in November and we wouldn't hesitate to return at that time of year. The whitecaps were beautiful to watch (is there ever a bad day to watch Lake Michigan?) Eileen was the perfect hostess as well. We'll be back!

Beautiful home, short walk to beach

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful, modern, spacious home that is so close to the shore you can hear the waves. Group of 12 had more than enough room. Plenty of appliances, tableware, silverware, etc. Large deck with great view of the beach. Great beach for walking. A little "stony" in the water so had to be careful walking into the water. Renters need to respect next group and clean feet before entering each time. Upon arrival, a little sandy on the floors and rugs, and a little dusty on lamps, tables and under furniture but that is beach life!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your comments. Regarding the rocks, we've owned since 2005 and this is the first year any rocks have been exposed on the beach...surprised me too! I'm up here now and will post pics to my website. Our beach went from 100% sand in 2015 to 80% this season. Ah, life on a Lake Michigan!

Beautiful Stay along the Lake Michigan Shoreline

  • 5 of 5

Eagle Shores served as an excellent base for our exploration of the Lake Michigan coastline. We arrived and took in the incredible view as you walk up and into the Living area thru the wall of windows. The open kitchen flowed directly into the family area. We immediately went exploring down at the shoreline. The beach grass and wooden pilings at the waters edge created some incredible photo opportunities. The bedroom arrangement worked very well as my parents used the Master Bedroom on the main floor, while my sister and I each had our own bedrooms upstairs. There was also another bedroom downstairs that had it's open separate living area.

The house is centrally located as we visited Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Leelanau peninsula to try some excellent wines and ciders. We also headed south to explore Luddington State Park and the town of Manistee.

It was a pleasure returning to the house every evening and listening to the waves crash along the shore, while a cool breeze was in the air as the sun dipped below the horizon on the other side of Lake Michigan. While there are other homes nearby, we felt like we had the shoreline to ourselves.

Eileen was a pleasure to deal as she takes the time to speak to the renters before to make sure the home is the right fit for their needs. If I am back in the area,I would certainly rent this property again.

WOW, MUST stay here again.... LOVE IT!

  • 5 of 5

A group of 14 stayed at the home during the New Year’s weekend and enjoyed every minute of this gorgeous, welcoming and cozy home. It was sparkling clean and had all the amenities one could wish for and then some. The views from every room, breathtaking! Although there were 14 of us (and I am not one for crowds) you never felt crowded, the home is huge with enough privacy for all. Visualize the fireplace, view of the lake and woods all in one glance, remarkable! Truly a great get away and only 4.5 hours from Chicago. The drive was very nice, passed by quickly as the scenery on the drive was so nice and relaxing, we can feel the stress slipping away from everyday life the closer we got to our destination and once we arrived, it was like being miles away from reality, which we can all use from time to time. The best part was it was not far at all and you can do it as often as you like. The price was very very reasonable compared to other place which did not offer half of the luxuries of this home / property. The owners are extremely nice to deal with, courteous and have thought of everything you could wish for which makes the stay even more enjoyable. They have everything there and I mean everything, from kitchen supplies to outdoor supplies / activities and games. No words can describe the feeling of entering the home and seeing that view, it truly is a MUST see, experience for yourself to appreciate the beauty of the place. I hope to say here again and very soon. The town itself is close, great stores and restaurants, not that I ever wanted to leave the home It is a nearby paradise at a fraction of the cost of other places in MI, IL or WI! Can’t wait to stay here again! In closing, a huge shot out to the kind, generous and extremely humble owners who opened their home to us and made our stay so pleasant, relaxing and fun. Great way to start the New Year, making amazing memories with the family!

Great House to stay in! Wonderful Lake Michigan experience

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time during our stay at Eagle Shores. Our family was comfortable in the amenities provided, there were no surprises, as the house was exactly as described. Only real complaint would be the wifi and cell coverage, but this was all known before we stayed, so again, it wasn't a surprise. The beach was great, and offered a gateway to walking a long distance along the Lake. There is also a wide selection of games to play for those rainy days (or just watch the storm roll in and the Lake Michigan waves churn), and a nice grill to use with lots of room for everyone to sit down for meals. We saw numerous deer drinking from the lake, and a bald eagle about a quarter mile south along the beach. We would definitely recommend a stay to any group!

What a wonderful winter experience!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Eagles Shores for 3 wintery nights. It is right on Lake Michigan and we were able to watch the icy edge of the shoreline grow each day. The house is spacious and has three levels. A beautiful two story view of Lake Michigan. It is very clean and offers all the comforts of home along with a gorgeous lake view! Consider car pooling as the driveway does not hold many cars. The owner is easy to work with and an experienced rental owner. We would recommend this to a large family that wants to spend time together, no matter what season it is.
