About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5-7)

Follow the winding driveway up the hilly ridge and you will find peace and serenity at this quaint Lakeshore Drive home hidden within 2.5 wooded acres with great inside and outside living spaces. You can relax on the deck or take a stroll on the Lake Michigan shoreline which is a 5 minute walk away. Or simply relax indoors as you take in the beautiful wooded views from every room.

This remodeled 2 bed/2 bath home has one bedroom/one bathroom on the main level and a second bedroom/bathroom on the lower level. Each bedroom features a queen bed and a wall of windows to bring plenty of sunlight and nature in. A cozy upper loft has a twin sleeper as well as a window seat ideal for napping or reading a book. The open kitchen/dining/living room area on the main level is surrounded by windows. The dining area has a sliding door wall that opens to a two level deck which features plenty of built-in seating as well as two tables with chairs ideal for outdoor dining/relaxing. The gas grill is easily accessible, as is a fire pit (with wood provided) so you can enjoy an evening toasting marshmallows with the family. Walk the deck path to the screened in porch/overlook which is a great place to relax (or sleep here with twin cot provided). Feel free to take the stairs down to enjoy the creek running through the rear of the property--older children will love this!

The home also features a surround sound stereo system complete with eclectic CD selection, plenty of books to read and a DVD library for your viewing pleasure.

For great evening strolls and an opportunity to catch one of those unforgettable sunset views, Lake Michigan access is a short stroll away. If you are looking for a playground or a place to sunbathe, West Side County Park is a short drive (or 10 minute walk via lake access) and gives you 630 feet of public beach to enjoy.

Saugatuck/Douglas (a 10 minute drive) and South Haven (a 15 minute drive) which are close by, offer incredible art galleries, many dining venues, and great shopping.

Fabulous Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating stay at Serenity Ridge! It was a magical place. Every evening we went down the road to the beach and experienced a glorious sunset. The house, which is tucked away into beautiful woods at the top of a ridge, is lovely and takes full advantage of the wooded setting. There are large windows, spacious rooms, updated baths and kitchen and a fabulous deck with a fire pit to enjoy! It is secluded, yet within an easy drive to Saugatuck, Douglas and Holland. Wonderful restaurants and shops, natural beauty and majesty. We highly recommend this lovely spot in breathtaking Southwestern Michigan.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Serenity Ridge. The bedrooms are very spacious and on separate floors. The living room and kitchen are large and have all the amenities. The best part is the location right in the middle of the woods with a huge back deck, a firepit, a screened-in porch, and steps that will allow you explore the woods even further. The nearby lake access allows you to walk along the lake and swim. You are not permitted to put down towels or chairs but you can do that at a nearby public park or Oval Beach in Saugatuck. The owner is extremely responsive and helpful in making sure your stay is what you expect. Be sure to explore Fennville, Douglas, Saugatuk, Holland and South Haven.

Truly serene

  • 5 of 5

Loved the place, it was so beautiful surrounded by so many lush tall trees, and so close to the beach. It was one of our best gateways. So relaxing yet so many things to explore. You would instantly feel a connection to nature when you arrive and you cannot help feel a little sad when you leave. The owner, John Risko was very helpful and responded quickly to my queues. I would highly recommend this place for all those who love nature.

Pretty much perfect

  • 5 of 5

This was a GREAT place to stay--the secluded wooded setting with HUGE deck was amazing, it's super close to two beaches (that are a bit rocky but they don't get as crowded as Oval), and close to Saugatuck/Douglas, South Haven and Fennville. I was looking for a nice break from the city, and this was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I have friends in the area and it was the perfect homebase for people to come hang, bbq and chill on the beach.

The house itself was well-stocked with all the pots, pans and prep tools for cooking/grilling, a stash of kids toys and even some shampoo/conditioners under one of the bathroom sink left by other guests. While not overtly "fancy", everything was high quality--which makes a huge difference in how comfy a place feels. Often vacation rentals have the cheapest imaginable bedding and mishmash furnishings--here all of the finishes, linens, furniture and everything else were really nice. The new carpet was so plush it made me want to carpet my own house! The layout works well for privacy--there's a bedroom suite downstairs with a bed and pull-out couch and a second bedroom upstairs close to the hall bath. Finally there's an adorable loft--a friend came up for one night and all three of her kids slept up there.

Tips: You're definitely in the woods, so bring plenty of bug spray. They ask that you don't wear shoes inside (which is keeping that awesome carpet so nice), so you want to be sure to have something to easily slip on and off when you're going in and out from the deck.

I'll definitely rent this home again next time I'm back in the area. All in all, it's one of the nicest rentals I've ever stayed in and I would most highly recommend it.

Terrific property

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I regularly stay in rental properties. This property is terrific. It is exactly as described and is in a great location with close access to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. In addition, it has a great feeling of seclusion without isolation. We enjoyed our evenings hanging out with a fire and enjoyed all the amenities of home with full kitchen and very comfortable sleeping quarters. We very much look forward to repeat visits in the future. The owner was also very communicative and hospitable.

REALLY nice place!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, secluded, and completely immaculate cottage a five minute walk from the beach. My boys and I had a great time walking the beach, hanging out in Saugatuck and watching complete garbage on TV (hey! It rained some . . .). Close enough (but not too close) to Saugatuck/Douglas and Holland. Price was VERY reasonable for the location and amenities. I plan to rent again next year.
