Eagle’s View is nestled on a 25 acre, 500 foot lake front property in the heart of Lake Superior's south shore. From the moment you start down the half mile drive through the woods you’ll begin to unwind. You'll enjoy complete privacy, stunning lake views, as well as the beauty and serenity of nature.
The home features an open-plan lower level with a formal dining area, a fully-outfitted kitchen with breakfast bar, and a wood burning fireplace that is anchored by a comfortable sectional sofa. The first-floor private bedroom has a firm full bed.
The lofted upper level has two bedrooms (one small bedroom with a full mattress, and larger bedroom with one queen bed and one full bed). The upstairs living room has another sectional and full bed, opening onto the upper deck with stunning lake vistas.
The “bonus” room at Eagle’s View is delightful: the south shore version of a cabana: a free-standing three season screened in porch that allows you to be surrounded by nature. It holds a full-size futon, two side chairs, and an ottoman. It’s perfect for a couple seeking privacy from the rest of the group, a kid’s retreat, or an opportunity to enjoy a book or a board game during a rainy afternoon. The lower level’s wrap around deck has a grill, picnic table and hammock.
Dogs are welcome at Eagle’s View! They’ll have plenty of room to explore and the south shore is full of dog-friendly spots. We do require an additional $25 cleaning fee due to the additional time it takes to ensure the property is completely free of doggy hair prior to our next guests.
Eagle’s View sits high above the shoreline. A steep set of stairs descends to the lake. We advise against their use. There are a number of places in Herbster and Port Wing which offer superb beach combing and swimming opportunities.
There is neither cable nor internet, leaving no distraction from what a vacation on the south shore should be about: enjoying the beauty of the lake and surrounding area, company of friends and family, and restorative nature of this special part of the country.
The south shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feel like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities, local arts, and places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor activities, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S.
The home is about 20 minutes from Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, bar/restaurant, and marina. Bayfield is about 40 minutes away, as is Washburn (where the largest grocery store is in the area). Ashland is about 50 minutes away (which has a natural foods co-op, Wal-Mart, and wider range of shops). Duluth is an hour and a bit away.
Eagle’s View is the ultimate escape!
