A Wonderful Time

My family and I had a fantastic time in Duck and in “Coast of Carolina.” The walk to the beach was easy, and Duck was a quick bike-ride away. There was plenty of space for the 5 of us and the decks were well used. It was a wonderful vacation. Thank you!

Wonderful vacation!

We had a great time staying in this home. The check in and check out process was extremely easy. The property management company was amazing to work with and were very fast on responses. The property was adorable, clean and the beach was perfect! We would stay here again for sure.

Great house for 4 people!

Overall great house! Close to the beach. Love the decks! Enjoy the outdoor shower and plenty of room to hang in bedrooms. Clean clean clean during a pandemic!

We loved the house and the location of the property. Beach was close (a short walk down the street) and downtown was a nice bicycle ride away. The house was spotless however we did see a large bug at least once or twice a day. The bugs may just come with the Outer Banks but they initially startled us. Despite the bugs, we would return every year to this same property.

Relaxing

This property was in a great location! There were a few improvements needed. The ceiling fan in the living room seemed to be falling off so we were unable to use it. The floor in the kitchen floor had some soft spots. Other then that the house was clean. Hot tub was so nice. This house has everything you would need to enjoy Duck NC. The beach access is right off the street as well

Nice house, great location

The house is 1 long-ish block from the beach and maybe 300 yards from the sound in a quite nice Duck neighborhood. Perfect for those who enjoy both the beach and SUP/Kayak activities. The house itself is lovely and large with bedrooms spread over 2 floors for privacy. . It was clean and well-equipped. Lots of nice touches like hammocks and swinging chairs with the apparently requisite roof deck. Not fantastic that you get there to find a small survival kit with a single roll of TP and a soap sliver but I guess that's standard OBX rental practice as is the 0900 check out which is a bit harsh, IMO

Great Home in Awesome Location

While modest in nature, the home certianly provides comforatable accomdations, spacious guest rooms and great decks on which to relax. The home is situated in a great neighborhood with less than a 5 minute walk to the ocean and an even shorter walk to the pier on the sound side (an incredible place to veiw the most spectacular sunsets). Another bonus is that the heart of Duck, including restaurants and shops, is a 2 mile walk or a 2 minute car ride away so you never have to travel far. The only oddity that I would point out to future renters is that the laundry room is located outside in the car port area. Additionally, I'd like to note that Shoreline's cleaning and mainteance teams were amazing. All were exceptionally friendly and responsvie. In particular, Mike the mainteance manager, was great to work with and provide prompt, friendly responses to all questions. I'd highly recommend Coast of Carolina to those looking to rent in the Outberbanks!

Maintenance issues and dirty with bugs

There were a few maintenance issues noted: Bugs everywhere, outside, roaches as well. The spider webs were not taken care of anywhere. The main level shower didn't have adjustable water temp due to a broken valve. The filters were the wrong size in the register, and in a pet friendly house, it was impossible for some folks to breathe easily at all. The washer was so small such that comforters couldn't be washed, and therefore had dog hair permanently attached. The place wasn't cleaned! Just sticker slapped on The good: The company came to fix the vent. The company came to reclean and they agreed it wasn't cleaned. The House: It's nice, but man, the main area isn't small enough to support the adults and kids that were there, it was SMALL, the rooms are big. But let's be honest we were there mostly for the beach, but it would have been nice to be comfortable when we weren't. It's a solid 3 star. Wouldn't stay here again unless the issues were fixed and it was 4 max, otherwise it doesn't support the amount of people it claims.

Cute place with just a short walk down the street to the beach

Pros: 1.) Well Equipped - Any cookware you can think to need is there and kept well organized 2.) Well Located - Beach is a very quick 3 minute walk down the street and to the access point. Just outside of duck, so it stays quiet, but really close to Duck so you can hit the shops, boardwalk, or restaurants without feeling like you're going for a long drive. 3.) Well Kept - It's kept as well as you can keep a wooden beachhouse. Cons: 1.) The sound-side for the community is a little meh. Fine to catch a sunset though and in no way reflects on the property. 2.) The hammock location is under the house. I can't imagine many people wanting to perch for a nap in a hammock without a view of something. Would recommend you use the second floor swinging chair instead. Minor maintenance issues came up during the stay: 1.) Flickering bulb 2.) Screen door wouldn't stay closed Both were addressed same-day while we were out without any issue. Misc: 1.) First time our dog had to deal with open staircases - you may want to test your dog on them somewhere closer to home if bringing. We had a...experience, trying to get him to go up them the first night.

Fine stay. Cleanliness Concerns

The house and location is exactly as listed. A short walk from the beach but was very close to the town of Duck, just a short ride away. However, I did not have a good experience with the property management team and cleanliness. Upon arrival there were dead bugs all over the ground... which if it was just cleaned I'm sure they would of noticed that? Then noticed the fridge was leaking. So I reached out to housekeeping within the timeframe asked and they said they would come by at 7:00. So we went to the grocery store and when we came back at 6:15 there was a written note stating that since we were not there when they came by there is nothing they could do? Very frustrating. I called maintenance about the fridge and they started to instruct me to "move the fridge and look for..." I promptly stated I physically cannot move a fridge and that I was on vacation. I was then told the matter could be dealt with the next day. The maintenance man listened to me complain about the bugs as well and he assured me he would talk with the management team and get it all resolved. He came by the next day and fixed the issue with the fridge but we never heard back from the office about the bugs. I ended up cleaning up the bugs myself. The house is obviously old and loved, but again looks exactly like the listing with great location. But, the issues upon arrival and cleanliness concerns turned us off immediately.

Our home was clean, despite a few large stains on the carpet and seeing a few large black bugs every couple days. In a great location, could use a bit of a deeper cleaning and some updates. The outdoor showers need some TLC and lighting. What really disappointed us was that the washing machine was clearly broken on arrival, and after doing one load of our laundry it was not spinning out at all. We contacted maintenance and they came right out, but said they'd have to call the appliance repair person. I believe this was on Monday or Tuesday. Maintenance never got back to us, and the appliance person never came, however the emails all said they will come and you may not know. Thinking perhaps this was the case, we tried turning the washer on to find it spitting out chunks of dirt and rust. This was beyond frustrating since it was Friday and we were checking out on Saturday. How can you rent a 4br home with a broken washer? It was clear that the washer had been broken for some time, and I would be surprised if we had been the first group to contact about it. This was our only summer vacation and we didn't want to spend half of it trying to get someone to come out to fix this issue. Despite this, we enjoyed our stay. However, this was quite unfortunate and frustrating for all of us. We wouldn't stay here again.

Family summer vacation

The home was quaint and was exactly what was advertised. The light fixtures were hanging by wire and actually looked very dangerous so we didn't turn on the fans in fear of them falling. The air duct was very dirty. There was trash from previous tenants. There was a comforter that was in the dryer when we got there. We brought our own so didn't need to use it. There were very specific "rules" and instructions that we followed, but didn't look like everyone followed. I felt like the house was not as clean as I would've thought it would be. Good place for the price and a short walk to the beach.

The outdoors was infested with palmetto bugs or what I call southern roaches and we could not use the outdoor downstairs areas at night. I made you aware of that the first day I was there and she said you would send an exterminator but nothing was done. I hate roaches - born and lived in NYC for years - and it was disturbing. Also we had trouble with the door and no one responded so I had to sit outside in the rain until my son got there and figured it out. Again disturbing. I did call in the morning and she apologized but it should not have happened. The house itself was fine - very clean, well stocked kitchen, lots of room, comfortable beds - hot tub in the garage we did not use - it was not appealing at all. Close to the beach, nice area. All told if you eliminate the lousy weather we had a nice time.

Cute but needs work

This property could use some TLC. The stairs leading to roof top deck were loose. The roof top deck was sketchy and there was a bees nest, making it not a place to go. The screened porch is in need of work and was covered with spider webs. Inside was okay. The kitchen and bathrooms looked good. The bedrooms were okay but dated.. We also had an issue with palmetto bugs and spiders inside. It seemed like every picture had a spider web, some with a resident spider. The palmetto bugs ( 2 - 4) visited every evening. We did not call property manager as we did not want any harsh pesticides sprayed while we were there. We loved the location and feel that with some work it would be a really good rental.

A relaxing getaway for our family

This was a cute house with a nice layout that fit our family of five well. It needs a little TLC and better cleaning and it would have more appeal and charm. In the end we had a great time and the location of being between the beach and the sound was great. Sunsets at the dock were amazing .

Awesome location and great home!

The house is terrific and in a great location. The covered hot tub is an amazing addition to protect against rainy days, and the kitchen was stocked with every conceivable gadget and tool. Overall a great experience.
