The main house is accessible from either the lower level foyer entrance or from the main upstairs front porch. Good house for a small group with a pet

  • 4 of 5

House was in a great spot on the beach. It often seemed like we had a private beach. It was also nice to not have to lug groceries up flights of steps which I've done in every other OBX house. The kitchen was ok. No decent knives, including steak knives. By August, cooking utensils/cookware were beat up or gone. Dishwasher worked well, though. Little gas grill out back worked well also. We used it often. As for living spaces, the tv room was uncomfortable, sorry to say. Sofa and chairs killed our backs (they're old) making watching a movie as a group very uncomfortable. Same for living room sofa. Owners should consider putting in a sectional in front of the fireplace and installing a large cable tv above the fireplace. Adults don't want to sit in the basement to watch tv and if everyone (5+) want to watch a movie together, there's no where in the house to do that comfortably. The master bedroom was comfortable and good for watching a sunrise. Master bath shower we referred to as the human car wash (which is a compliment)! As for the other bedrooms, my adult children complained that the beds were very hard and uncomfortable. New mattresses may be needed. Shared bathroom was very small. Outside, we enjoyed the decks and the PVC chairs with green cushions. The loungers weren't used because the cushions were really old and beat up. The umbrellas were a great save that allowed us to enjoy the decks in the hot sun. Decks were in very good shape. I'm grateful for that because they didn't beat up our feet or our dog's paws. I would consider staying at this house again, but I have one major request... please put in a hot tub. I usually rent where there's a pool and hot tub, and I'm surprised that I didn't miss the pool because we were at the beach all of the time(and loved it). A hot tub would have made this house perfect. Thank you for sharing this nice little beach house with us. We had a great time!

Super "one level" handicap access, pet-friendly beachfront house

  • 4 of 5

Amazing house. Two master bedrooms with king-sized beds, one bedroom with a double and a single, two and a half bathrooms. It doesn't sleep that many people (for beach houses these days) but this house can host plenty of guests! We hosted a group lunch, breakfast, and two dinners. Everyone loved the place, and our extended family, who rented two other houses, voted our house THE BEST!

The floor plan is great - two fridges (one downstairs in the pool table room). There are two air conditioners/thermostats, every beach item you could need, and the kitchen is totally stocked for cooking and beverages!

1:00 Saturday check-in is amazing! Trust the map app - turn on Juniper Trail and drive through a beautiful, traffic-free, shaded neighborhood (or two) and come out on Ocean Blvd going the OPPOSITE way of traffic and turn LEFT into the driveway.

Loved this place - will definitely go again.

The Ocean Is Your Backyard: Beautiful Location, Clean, Well-Appointed Home, Great Owner

  • 5 of 5

Home is exactly as advertised - in fact, better. It is very clean, incredibly well-appointed for a rental, spacious, and the layout/location cannot be beat.

The kitchen is very clean and has every utensil you might need, as well as lots of dinnerware, glasses and mugs. There is a range, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee makers, and a fridge, along with a 2nd fridge downstairs. Everything was spotless and it was like entering your family's home not a rental. Not a single sticky item. Plenty of dining space: table for 6, another table for 4, and 2 seat breakfast bar. There is an enclosed sun porch with a flat screen and numerous books, games, playing cards, and poker chips. There is also a pool table in the downstairs playroom with another TV. Zoned central air works great.

The beds and pillows are all great and clean. Two of the bedrooms are very large with king size beds, and the 3rd bedroom is nice size with a double and twin bed. The two full baths are updated and the master has a multiple head shower and Jacuzzi. There is a 3rd half bath downstairs, and a 3rd outside shower. There is a laundry room with washer/dryer and plenty of linens, bath and beach towels.

There is a shed full of beach chairs, umbrellas, fishing gear, boogie boards, inflatable floatee, sand toys and paddle ball. There are 2 one person kayaks with oars and life vests. There is a huge deck with more tables and chairs than you can use, seating for 6-8 at one table, 4 more cushioned chairs near the gas grill, and 5 chaise lounges, along with another table and several more chairs on a lower deck. There is also a charcoal grill on the lower deck.

There is a walkway to the dune deck/stairs to the beach. The dune deck has 2 benches, a table with 3 chairs, 2 high chairs with umbrella facing the ocean, and a flag pole to raise Old Glory every morning. The walkway from the dune deck has a foot shower so you can rinse before entering the house. The entire walk from backdoor to beach is maybe 50-70 steps. The view is stunning. The ocean is your backyard, no exaggeration. The beach is quiet, the entire week I don't think another family was within 30 yards of us.

Home is on main road, but no busier than any other shore town. No trouble at all getting in or out. You may hear cars in morning but this is wonderfully drowned out by the sound of waves crashing, and view of ocean from your bed.

The owner (Ann) is very nice and responds quickly to any questions.

Beautiful family vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

This home is even nicer than the pictures. We found it to be clean, inviting, and comfortable. It's the first beach rental we've had where we didn't wash every dish, pot, or pan before we used it. The extra refrigerator downstairs was a nice bonus. The inclusion of towels, beach chairs, and beach toys was awesome. We loved the decks and beach views and saw dolphins many times each day. Highly reccomend!

It has everything you need. Seriously.

  • 5 of 5

In my 38 years of coming to the OBX, this is the BEST place that I've ever stayed. It's the perfect size for a family (or two) and the dog. There's plenty of room for everyone inside. The exterior features an amazing expansive deck with plenty of tables, chairs and grills. The deck takes you over the dune and drops you right on the beach! If the weather is not looking good, there are plenty of games/board games, books, cable TVs, binoculars and pool tables to keep the kids busy. I'm thankful to have had the privilege to stay here and i hope to bring the family back :)

Perfect family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

House's layout was perfect for Mom & Dad and two grown children with their partners. And our grand dog. Loved the location. It was was our first OBX trip so we could explore north and south from Southern Shores. Convenient to groceries and requisite ice cream runs at night (we're on vacation at the beach! Eat the ice cream!). Kitchen had every appliance and gadget one could ever need which was good because we cooked most meals. Extra fridge in basement held our reserves. Wifi and TV worked great. Loved the different living areas. Lots of chairs and umbrellas so no need to bring a thing! Totally pleased. And we had 2 full days of rain, so that says something! :)
