About this property
A Slice of Paradise - unlimited well mannered pets
Respectful guests and their pets are invited to come and make this your home away from home. Enjoy the private oasis in the backyard. The pool, the large outdoor dining area, the outdoor bar area, lounge chairs, and a gas fire pit seating area.
Short 1/4 mile direct walk to the ocean - this is VERY IMPORTANT when renting a beach place. It is a straight short walk to the ocean. NO winding thru neighborhoods or around condo buildings at the ocean. Trust me, this is important. The home makes you feel like you are in the tropics, very airy and comfortable.
So many things to do in the area (or nothing but laying in the sun!) like trying your hand at surf fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, or just a long walk on the beach. See the last photo on this listing to look at the free concerts that happen throughout the summer in Daytona! It's a quick 10-minute Uber ride to the Bandshell (a venue right by main street Daytona) with views of the ocean as you listen to your favorite artists.
During the Spring you might be able to spot the elusive rare right whales and their babies go by, or a few times a year you can walk by the sea turtle nests. Most every morning you can walk down and catch a glorious sunrise and watch a pod of dolphins go by. A walk or short drive away you will find Publix grocery store ( they deliver!! ) the liquor store, a bait shop, a brewery ( with a food truck outside), And of course so many good eateries and bars all up and down A1A Scenic highway.
Oh and instead of walking east the 1/4 mile to the ocean, go west 1/2 mile and you are at a small public kayak ramp with a great dock for fishing.
There is also a very big dog trail/park within a mile of the home. Daytonas famous Main Street is just 8 miles up the road ( but you will feel like you are miles away with no traffic or noise)
The cool unknown town of Flagler Beach is just a short gorgeous drive 11 miles north up A1A. The pier is a fun adventure - you can even rent fishing gear on the pier or grab a bite and drink and just enjoy the view. The home does have a ring video camera, as well as a Roku and wifi.
Also, the cute 2 bedroom pet-friendly w/hot tub "Mermaid House" next door is also available if you have a larger party. Listing number 2006982 When you send your request in for a booking, please tell me about your group and what is bringing you to the area, as well as info about your pets please. There is a PER pet fee for the stay - But this means I allow you to bring ALL your family members! When booking I will just need to know how many. All my homes are on the same street. The Turtle home on the same street is available ( 2/1 Three houses from the ocean), the Mermaid house (2/1 with a hot tub), the Flamingo ( 2/1 with a pool) as well as the Dolphin (2/1 with a pool). All my properties are pet friendly!!
As a disclosure to you, my homes do have ring flood light cameras at the front of the home.

The house was very clean and comfortable. Pool area was beautiful! We were there for Christmas visiting family. Great location! Lots of dining close by and Publix just down the street. We hope to plan next visit during the spring or summer to enjoy the pool more! Beach was so easy to walk to. The Park was a great entry to the beach area. Great find for a family vacation!
Place matches the description and photos. Great location and close to anything you probably plan to do. Beach is a super short walk to the end of the street. Plenty of dinner options close by. We had a great time staying here for the 500
This is a great property in short proximity to the beach and fun activities. Backyard and pool are amazing for good relaxation. House is perfect for 4 people. I would book this property again. Plus Phyllis is a great host!

I knew you would fall in love with this little town! Still here two months later!! There is something therapeutic about this quaint small beach town. One month always flies by, but people leave so refreshed. Come back anytime !
This place was so nice the pool was awesome she provides everything you need to have a good time except your groceries. If we ever go back to Florida this is who we will reach out to. Thanks Phyliss
We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Phyllis’s beautiful home in Ormond Beach, and it was exactly what we needed to escape the craziness of the Rockville festival! The house was spotless, spacious, and full of charm — with a fantastic private pool and a refreshing outdoor shower that made every day feel like a resort retreat. The location couldn’t have been better. We were just a short walk to both the beach and the intracoastal, and only a 20-minute Uber/Lyft ride to the Daytona Speedway — super convenient for everything we wanted to do.Phyllis was an incredible hostess — warm, responsive, and welcoming from start to finish. She made sure everything was just right, and it truly felt like a home away from home.I’ll definitely be booking with Phyllis again next time I’m in the area. Highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for comfort, location, and a host who goes above and beyond!— Mike
This was our second time here. Stayed for a month and we didn’t want to leave Beach is less than 5 minute walk. Beautiful pool in backyard Safe neighborhood. Only thing family said was furniture seemed to big for living area and a few floor tiles were chipped. Overall great vacation. Would and probably will book again. Phylliss easy to contact and work with. And dog friendly!
Fantastic place. We were there for Bike Week and it was nice to be stay away from Main Street and the noise friends were there working the motocross.
Very relaxing especially with the pool. Ever you need is there. Including some baby furniture. Will definitely stay again Phylliss was always there if we needed anything. Very easy to get along with her
This was a wonderful oasis for our family. We couldn’t stop saying how wonderful everything was.
It was so quiet and laid back. The backyard was amazing. The kids loved the pool and stayed there from afternoon until bedtime.
The house was nice and cool when the outside temperatures were so hot.
The location was perfect with room to spread out on the beach. It was a little over an hour to Orlando and Cape Canaveral.
We would absolutely stay here again if we’re back in the area.
Phyllis is fantastic, and the location of this home can't be beat! You walk just a few steps to the end of the street for the sunrise at the beach, and then you go to the other end of the street for the sunset on the river. We cooked many meals in the well-stocked kitchen, and we really enjoyed sitting outside by the pool. The little room by the front door now has a small dining table and chairs (not the couch and table as pictured), which is GREAT because it was too chilly on a few days to eat our meals by the pool. It is so close to all the "action" but really feels tucked away and cozy just like the description says. You will have a great time in this home!
We have rented from Phyllis for several years now but this was our first time at this property. Everything you need (as well as items you didn’t think about) are provided. This was simply perfection for us. It was incredibly humid and high temps during our stay and when we had a scare with my husband fainting, Phyllis called immediately to check and even offered to run to the store if we needed anything (note- she’s not an overbearing renter- she lives close by and saw EMC arrive). We loved our time here- the pool, the amazing outdoor shower, and easy access to the beach. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us!
I was looking for a warm beachfront property to escape from Minnesota’s cold winter with my childhood girlfriend of many yearsWe went to kindergarten together..! I was looking for a month of relaxation and warmth by a nice pool…My wishes were granted! The house was wonderful, and the pool was great, and the month went by too fast!It was a quiet nice neighborhoodthe house has a great very beachy feel the pool is to die for !!!We named the pink flamingo in the pool, Pinky Lee we will miss him !!We spent many hours in the sun, by the pool, enjoying Pinky Lee!We came home with a great tan!The outside shower rocks!!I now think every house should have an outside showerIf the pool is not your thing, the ocean is right next to you ….Great location!if you’re into visiting Daytona Beach It’s right down the road that’s quite the place to visit and Joe’s crab shack has great food!!!!Love the boardwalk! So many shops to spend your money atI would highly highly recommend this property. I stayed a month and loved it. Hope to return next year.Because I was staying a whole month I was leery of my choice, but everything was the way that it was described online. I am very glad I made the choice. It was a very good time.Very chill and relaxing..And Phyllis, the manager was great! She was very very very helpful and kind.I felt very comfortable with her, and she was very knowledgeable about telling me about all the great spots. We had some great food. The neighborhood is very friendly and Great!!!I have nothing to say bad. It was an epic adventure that I will never forget. The best month! the best time!!I made a great choice!!!

We rented this property for the month of March 2020. My wife wrote a positive thank you note to Phyllis when we left because that's what she does, however; as her husband, I disagreed, and after some discussion we decided that there were issues that other potential renters should be made aware of.
On our arrival my wife decided to make some coffee and found that the last filter used was still there, filled with old grounds and white with mold. To the owner's credit she replaced the coffee maker. Later that day we needed to use a knife and fork which were stored in a small wicker basket on the counter top. I noticed a distinct odor coming from the knife so we took all the utensils from the basket and saw that the interior bottom of the basket was also covered in mold and the utensils were in contact with it. We immediately washed them all and put them away in a drawer instead. During our time there we were never willing to use the outdoor seating shown in the pictures because the cushions were covered mold/mildew. This would have been nice to use since there was no dining table or chairs inside the house. Are you sensing a pattern yet? To top off the cleanliness issues, in the middle of the day, we found a very large cockroach crawling across the kitchen floor. The owner finally agreed to hire pest control but later told my wife that it was no big deal because this is Florida. We have been traveling to Florida for 10 years and only experienced this one other time. Most importantly, roaches spread disease. I would not expect Phyllis to be so cavalier if her home had them.
When we arrived at the property, we discovered that there was no cable or antenna TV. Because we were staying for a month, we asked the owner to remedy this and she complied. Because of the Covid19 we had to leave on March 14 even though we had paid through the 31st, but we did not receive any refund nor did we request any until we saw that Phyllis rented the house to others for 10 days after we left. We asked for a refund of what we had already paid for those 10 days, not for the remainder of the month, but she refused, one reason given was that she provided TV service, and another that she had to hire an exterminator. So to the prior reviewer who wrote what a great place this was for them I have to wonder about the quality of places you have rented in the past. I have more to say but I am literally out of space to write it.

I have to admit I was shocked by this review when I saw it. Everything seemed wonderful when you left and you even wrote me the nicest note.
Its said “ Good morning! We have a family issue at home that needs immediate attention, so we are going to have to head home tomorrow. We have totally enjoyed our stay. You have been a wonderful host, and we are sorry to have to leave this beautiful place! Do you have departure instructions? “ Signed by both of you.
I responded with “please don’t worry about anything and please tend to your family matter”
All was well at that point.
Two weeks later you then asked for a refund for the days you did not stay. I explained that you had negotiated an extremely low rate for a full month during which, the first two weeks are the busiest season in my town - Bike Weeks. The rate for those two weeks alone well exceeded the entire monthly rate you had negotiated. I explained that there was not a refund due - and in fact VRBO had made a major mistake because you apparently claimed you left because of COVID ( not the family issue you told me ) and they refunded all of the taxes to you that were due to the state. I am still working on trying to get that resolved.
As far as the issues you state :
1- As soon as you notified me upon your arrival that there were old grounds in the coffee filter I ran out and purchase a brand new coffee maker for the home - I was mortified. Delivered within 2 hours and I profusely apologized. I let you know you were my first guest and I wanted to make sure your stay was perfect.
2- When you called me two days after checking in and told me you had to have full cable with all the channels you were used to, I called the local cable company and signed a contract with them so you could have a great experience during your stay.
3- When you sent me a picture of a bug by the back door I offered to come to the home and pick it up and spray - You said you only felt comfortable staying if I had my professional exterminator come right away. So I did.
4- I am baffled by your comment about the patio furniture. All furniture was just purchased in November of 19 and sits outside in the full sun. It does get damp in the early morning from the dew and maybe you thought that was mold?
5- I truly am not sure why you would have thought there was a dining room in the home. My family and I have always enjoyed our family meals out on the patio under the sunshade.
As far as all the other “mold issues” I am baffled you never said anything to me and you only speak about them after not getting a refund from me. I truly wish you would have said something to me before throwing that flatware holder away, as my grandma had given me that. It now explains why the drawers were switched around in the kitchen as well.
I will admit, I did learn an awful lot in sharing my home with others with you as my first guest. I will definitely try harder to set proper exceptions in the future.
I love the home and realize it is not for everyone. It is very much a “get outside and do stuff” kind of place. It is not fancy nor big, but I think its an amazing place to disconnect from all of your worries whether by your self of with a large group.
I do wish you the best in your future travels.
Phyllis
Location and atmosphere can’t be beat, not to mention the amazing folks in Ormond Beach. You won’t meet a nicer group of people. House is an oasis of calm with charm galore, and Phyllis is an excellent host. We will be back!
This was a working vacation for us, and everything was perfect. Internet is extremely fast, and we worked outside most of the time. Amazing place. This area is underrated. 5 minute walk to the nearest beach entry, with lifeguard stand. We found excellent bars and restaurants no more than 10 minute walk. Pool area is amazing! Pool was refreshing and clean. AC and house were very nice and stocked well. We spent the majority of our time by the pool. Extremely safe area as well… we walked back from the sea drift sports bar late every night. Great sea breeze as well!
Great area. Close to beach. Backyard and pool were perfect!! Close to lots of things to do. House was very nice. Will definitely go and stay there again.

Ormond By The Sea was my weekend home for years for my kids and I. Now that the kids are grown and off enjoying their own lives out in the world I figure it would be great to share my "slice of Paradise" I fell in love with, with others. I do live right down the street from the home now - so if you ever need anything - just reach out! Come see why I love it so much.
Why they chose this property
This is just old school Florida at its best. So much to see and do all around the little beachside town.
What makes this property unique
Bring your furbabies!! Don't board them. ( There is a 125.00 per pet fee - but this covers the entire stay)
