House, 1 Bedroom + Bunk Area, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4), jacuzzi tub, washer/dryer
This 1908 cottage, rebuilt in 2005 after fire destroyed the top floor, is a cozy getaway nestled in the coastal town where Annie's grandfather was, long ago, the Mayor and mill worker on the bay. It's the perfect spot for the family vacation, writer's/artist's hangout or business trip.
From Annie's Cottage, the beach is as close as a few blocks or a short drive to the active fishing village of Charleston and the business meeting is less than a 15 minute drive no matter which direction you go in Coos Bay or North Bend, yet you have the feeling the moment you step out of the car and stroll up the stone path and hear the soothing sound of the water fall, that all the tensions of your active every day life are just no where to be found.
A day playing in the sand dunes or at the beach or taking a hike along the coast is perfectly ended by a soak in the jacuzzi tub and then lean back in the recliner overlooking the bay to watch the sunset and the occasional ship go by. Our non commercial, relaxing, authentic little town will invite you back again and again to forget there ever was a freeway, a long line to stand in or a phone ringing off the hook.

About Annie Comfort
Paul and Annie Comfort share a love for this little, authentic coastal community. Each have deep roots in the community and have participated in local theater and music. Paul bought the home that is now Annie's Cottage over 20 years ago with hopes of entertaining friends there. A bachelor for many years, he was a customer of Annie's when she was a sales clerk in the 1970's & 80's at a local Radio Shack. He worked in marine electronics in the nearby fishing village of Charleston and later was the technical director at a local theater. Annie moved away after college and, after the death of her first husband, returned to Coos Bay where they met again and fell in love after working on a music project together. After fire destroyed the top floor of the Cottage, they were wed and rebuilt the Cottage in 2004 with the dream of sharing it with people just like them who just need a peaceful getaway from time to time.
Annie Comfort purchased this House in 1983
Why Annie Comfort chose Coos Bay
We've always loved the Oregon coast, and the Coos Bay area is full of unspoiled beauty. The non-commercialized beaches, dunes and forests are exquisite. The air is fresh and clean, and the temperatures are always moderate.
What makes this House unique
From the minute you begin your walk up the path to the front door, there is a peace about the Cottage. It is a resting place, a place to truly kick back and take it easy. From the easy chairs overlooking the bay on the top floor, you can watch ships and fishing boats and an occasional barge go by. Once in awhile a tall ship can be seen, such as the Lady Washington. Whether it's sitting on the rocks of the waterfall in the front yard and watching the neighborhood birds play in the water or relaxing in the jacuzzi tub upstairs, it is a true getaway, a destination.

Cute and cozy. Nice yard. Awesome if traveling with a dog. Enjoyed our stay
We enjoyed our short stay at Annie's Cottage. We would definitely consider staying here again should the need arise for accommodations in the area. Comfy bed and cozy decor. Well stocked kitchen supplies to prepare meals. Easy to find and great view of the water to watch for ships. Close proximity to town and beach.
Thank you for taking great care of the Cottage during your stay, we’re so glad you enjoyed it.
Very warm and comfortable home
Annie's Cottage was home for me while I was a travel nurse at Bay Area Hospital for three months. Ann and Paul are the best hostess. The home is very clean and comfortable.
Thank you, Mary, it was a pleasure having you stay. Thank you for taking such great care of the Cottage during your stay. Three months is a long time away from home and family. I’m grateful we were able to be your “home base” for awhile. ~Annie
It was Good
This is a comfortable little cottage. Has everything you need and was much more comfortable than a hotel. The bed in the master bedroom bed was not as comfortable as I had hoped. You can sit in the recliners and see the boats come in if you look through the big trees and roof tops. The kitchen was well equipped and it was clean. The location was convenient to a coffee shop that you could walk to in the morning. The beach that you could get to was a couple of blocks away and you could not walk very far on it but you could stand out on the dock and and take pictures and watch the boats come in.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Cottage. It is true, the Cottage overlooks a 100+ yr old home and then the Bay. The beach that is close-by is on the bay. The ocean beaches are 6 miles out Cape Arago Hwy., through the working fishing village of Charleston.
The bed is new this year, we are sorry you didn’t prefer it. We’ll do our best to earn those 5 stars if you decide to come again. Of course we aren’t able to effect the view or location of the beaches, but our guests will always matter to us very much.
A Priviledged Piece of the Past
Very charming! Many special touches and details! Clean , well equipped. Loved the surprise view of bay!
My husband and I stayed on a trip up the coast back to Portland from the CA redwoods and we adored this little house! I wish we would have had another day there. All the touches were warm and welcoming and the chocolate from Cranberry sweets was so good we stopped there for treats to take back to friends on the way out of town. The little coffee place around the corner was great and the sushi place down the block (Tokyo Bistro?) was fantastic! We loved winding down with some popcorn and a movie after dinner. This was our landing spot after four nights of camping. The bedroom and bathroom were luxurious and comfortable, and the natural bath products were great! This is a great place to stay, close to the wonderful Shore Acres State Park, and I hope we have a chance to return some day soon! Thank you!
You touched on many of our favorite things about the area and the Cottage! We love knowing everyone is having a good time relaxing after a day or more of fun! Thank you so much for letting us be your get-away, and for taking time out to tell us about it :-)
