The Elk cabin was better than described. It was in the edge of the campground along the river. Everything went smoothly and we loved the cabin and the setting. It was pretty quiet for being in a campground. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for an affordable cabin in the area.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I'm thrilled to hear that The Elk exceeded your expectations. One of the things guests love most about that cabin is its location along the river at the edge of the campground, offering a peaceful setting while still being close to all the amenities. I'm glad everything went smoothly and that you were able to enjoy both the cabin and the beautiful surroundings. It's especially nice to hear that you found it quiet and relaxing while still being part of the campground experience—that balance is something many guests appreciate. Thank you for your recommendation and for choosing Revelle's River Resort. We truly appreciate your kind words and would love to welcome you back to The Elk for another affordable and relaxing mountain getaway in the future!

Great Stay

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property is located on a camp ground that was really quiet during our stay in Jan. The views and property are really nice, we will definitely be staying here again.

Thank you! I'm so glad you and your family had an awesome time—though I’m sorry the cabin had to watch you all leave looking like sad puppies 🐶. You’re officially part of the “we’ll-be-back” crew now, and we can’t wait to host your next adventure! Until then, keep the good vibes rolling—and don’t be strangers. The cabin misses you already! 🏡✨

Thanks so much for the kind words—and the honest feedback! I’m glad you found the place comfy, clean, and that I was quick to respond (I try to be faster than a squirrel on espresso ☕🐿️). Totally hear you on the closet space—it's currently more “cozy cabin charm” than “walk-in wardrobe wonderland,” but I'm already brainstorming storage-friendly upgrades to give future stays a little more elbow room for your gear. You’re always welcome back anytime! Next time, I’ll have the welcome mat out and maybe even an extra hook or two waiting for ya 😉

Absolutely Great Cabin

Myself and two friends booked the Elk Cabin for a long weekend of trout fishing in the area. We were blown away by how nice the cabin was - extremely clean and comfortable. It's location right on Shaver's Run was outstanding. We spent a lot of time out on the huge deck that overlooks the river and used the flat-top grill several times. Highly recommend!

It's always our goal to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for our guests, and we're delighted that the cabin exceeded your expectations. We couldn't agree more about the beauty of the location and the peaceful ambiance of Shaver's Run. It sounds like you made the most of your time on the huge deck and enjoyed some delicious meals from the flat-top grill – what a fantastic way to soak in the natural surroundings! We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another memorable stay in the future. Until then, happy fishing!

Great Weekend Outing

Wonderful place to stay at. Loved the community feel even though wasn't expecting it. Also appreciated it was 15 minutes to nearest town, so great location to get around the area. Would definitely like to stay here again. Only thing i didn't like was all the additional fees at the point of checkout; would be better to just incorporate some of the fees into the actual nightly cost, but i think that's more of an application service issue and not the host,so why i didn't reduce stars.

Thank you for your thoughtful review! I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the community feel—that sense of connection is something special here, even when it’s unexpected! It’s great that you found the location convenient for exploring the area while still feeling like you’re tucked away from it all. I appreciate your feedback about the fees. I completely understand how it can be frustrating, and I agree that bundling them into the nightly rate would make things simpler. Unfortunately, some of that is beyond our control, but I’m grateful you didn’t let it take away from your overall experience. We’d love to welcome you back for another stay anytime!

Family Getaway

My family and I really enjoyed our mini vacation. The cabin was everything we were looking for. Beautiful location overlooking the river and decorated in a cozy, rustic style to include a Christmas tree and holiday decorations. The cabin itself was clean and the kitchen well stocked with anything you could need-even a crockpot and the item we always forget-coffee filters. We hesitated sharing a good review only because we’d like to keep this location available for the next time we are able to visit. Thank you for your hospitality Catherine.

Almost Heaven...

Catherine was an absolute jewel to work with! From my first inquiry email, she was very responsive. The cabin is exactly as described, and how the pictures show. Kudos to the cleaning company, because my family and I have rented from numerous VRBO renters in the past, and this cabin was by far the cleanest upon check-in. It was very peaceful at the campground, and everyone we encountered was extremely friendly! We will be back!

Riverside retreat

It was exactly as described. It was well equipped and well maintained. We had one minor maintenance issue. I called the after hours number to have it resolved the next day. 10 minutes later the maint. man was there and promptly resolved the issue. Very quiet place considering it's location in a campground. Nobody wanted to leave and everyone wants to go back.

Great vacation!!!!!

We had a fantastic time at The Elk cabin. The cabin and outside areas were immculate. The location is great. Many area attractons within a 1 hour drive. The view from the deck is awesome. Wish there was direct access to the river from the property. Looks like there has been but it is covered with bricks and cinder block from replacing the chimney. Maybe just a work in progress. There is a great swimming area just a short distance across the road. The kids (and adults) loved the splash pad. My negative: The kitchen stove is a disaster! We eat all our meals in and it was a constant battle. This has been mentioned in previous comments. The dining table seats 4 and there are 2 barstools. We are a family of 7 and enjoy eating our meals together and playing games in the evening. It is a high table so couldn't use a lawn chair. The gas grill grate is rusty but there is a really nice charcoal grill. These are just things I wanted to mention. Overall, it is a great place and we would definately go back!

Why they chose this property

Nestled along the river in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia, our cabin offers the perfect blend of outdoor adventure, natural beauty, and classic campground charm. The property is surrounded by towering trees, fresh mountain air, and the soothing sounds of the river flowing nearby.

What we love most about the area is that you can truly slow down and enjoy nature, while still being close to everything you need. Spend the day hiking, fishing, exploring waterfalls, or discovering local attractions, then come back to the campground and unwind by the river or in your private hot tub.

We also love the friendly, laid-back atmosphere of the campground. There’s always something happening—from a game of cornhole or volleyball to kids enjoying the playgrounds and splash pad—yet there are plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

With Elkins just 9 miles away, you’ll have convenient access to local dining, shopping, and attractions while still feeling like you’ve escaped to a quiet mountain retreat.

Whether your perfect getaway means adventure, relaxation, family fun, or simply listening to the river flow, this little corner of West Virginia makes it easy to enjoy it all.

What makes this property unique

What sets our property apart is the combination of cozy cabin comfort, riverside beauty, and a true outdoor getaway experience. Our cabins are nestled within a lively, welcoming campground where guests can enjoy the best of both worlds—a comfortable place to relax while having plenty of activities and adventures right outside your door.

Guests can fish in the trout stream, float the river, soak in a private hot tub, cook on a Blackstone griddle or charcoal grill, and enjoy a variety of on-site recreational activities. Families will love the playgrounds, splash pad, and scheduled activities, while those looking to unwind can simply sit back and enjoy the peaceful mountain scenery and sound of the river.

We’re also just 9 miles from Elkins, making it easy to explore the incredible outdoor attractions, scenic railways, waterfalls, hiking trails, and mountain destinations throughout the area.

Most of all, we want our guests to feel welcome and at home. It’s a place where you can disconnect from the everyday, reconnect with nature, and create memories that last long after your stay.
