Escape to a peaceful riverfront retreat surrounded by beautiful views and the sounds of nature. This spacious three-bedroom home comfortably sleeps seven and offers the perfect blend of comfort and outdoor adventure. Relax on two large decks overlooking the river—one with a private hot tub—and enjoy nights by the fire pit under the stars.
Inside, you’ll find two inviting living rooms, two dining areas, and a wood-burning fireplace for cozy evenings in. The home is clean and well-stocked with everything you need, including a laundry room, gas and charcoal grills, and indoor and outdoor games.

Enjoy swimming, wading, floating or fishing at your own private river beach, then unwind on the deck as the sun sets over the mountains. With year-round appeal, this home is an ideal getaway for families or couples seeking a blend of relaxation and recreation.

Great property. Kitchen was very well apportioned - plenty of plates/bowls/cups, as well as pots/pans. The weather was fantastic - the only time spent inside was when we were sleeping. Backyard deck, hot tub, firepit, and view were terrific. We'll be back...........

The place needs a EXTREME deep clean on the inside as the floors were dirty and there was a funky smell in one of the bathrooms and overall musty smell in the house. There is no central air (only a whole house fan that is super loud) and the house is pretty outdated. The upkeep on the outside of the house was lacking as well, with cobwebs/leaves all over the rocking chairs/windows/porch swing/seating area on the back deck. The garage was dirty and a mess, used for storage with random things thrown everywhere. The location of the property was great, and we enjoyed the hot tub/river/fire pit area. However, there were only a few pieces of firewood available for our entire week stay. I did reach out to the host one time to ask if we could get the hot tub water changed out and kind of felt as if I was a bother, as she said that “it is unusual that we clean the hot tub during a guests stay”. Someone did come the next morning to clean it which we appreciated, but he was smoking cigarettes on the deck right next to the bedroom window, we were inside and could smell the cigarette smoke coming in. They have stickers right next to the house saying no smoking within 15 feet. We have stayed at many vacation properties and this was the most disappointing one.

Easy river access

We were all pleased with our stay! Great hot tub, lots of outdoor space with a nice firepit, wonderful river access great for tubing and relaxing. The house had plenty of room for everyone with lots of table space to play games. Took away a star because the patio area and furniture could use a good washing but all 5 of us would recommend staying here!

Riverfront Retreat

A modern house with rustic vibe nestled in a quiet wooded area overlooking the river. Enjoy the outdoors with multilevel decks, hot tub, fire pit and inner tubes for the river. Bedrooms are very comfortable-all linens are provided. Beware of the loose gravel hill on the road down to the property. Also you must buy or bring your own cooking oil, spices, condiments, etc because nothing is supplied except for salt/pepper.

River retreat!

We had a great time at the house. There was plenty of hiking nearby. The house was very clean and well supplied. The beds were comfortable and the view was great! Our only disappointment was that we didn't realize there was no cell phone coverage. The wifi worked well!

Trout fishing trip

The house was exactly what we were expecting and we had no issues with anything. We were stay for a trout fishing trip unfortunately we didn’t catch very many but the house in in the perfect location for fishing close by and easy access to near by streams. We enjoyed the house and would like to come back in the future

Fun Winter Weekend with Friends

Our group was looking for a fun winter weekend in WV and found this great property just outside of Elkins! The house had plenty of room for our group of 7 and had a great, private location along the cheat river. We happened to be staying when a winter storm hit, which made the weekend much more interesting! Luckily, the host was very helpful and communicative to ensure we had a great weekend! We’d love to stay here again - though maybe in the summer next time!

River Star .....overall excellent experience

Beautiful house, great location......overall excellent experience..enjoyed every minute...will definitely consider booking again in the future...would love to live there....the whole experience was perfect. Wonderful experience

The house and grounds were beautiful. The firepit proved to be very enjoyable and most all about the house was very accommodating. Just a few problems: very little toilet paper and paper towels were available, until late in our stay we found the stash in the garage; the gas grill was extremely dirty and there was so much grease deposited in the grill that the one time we used the grill actually caught on fire; window in the bedroom with two beds was slightly open when we arrived and we were unable to close it upon departure and finally a set of steak knives would be very beneficial. Overall, the experience was great, the river was beautiful but our fishing experience resulted in no fish even though we fished everyday. Thank you for an unforgettable vacation.

Another amazing stay

This place is amazing. The house is well stocked with cooking utensils and towels and even some firewood for a small fire. We love staying here for our annual girls trip. The hot tub is amazing with the views of the river. Unfortunately we didn’t get much fishing in because the river was high but we enjoyed our time anyway. The host is great with getting back to us. We had zero issues except we didn’t want to leave 😊.

The Riverstar is such a beautiful home and property. The house and grounds are well maintained and very clean. The property owner is very polite and helpful. We enjoyed every minute of our stay!

Great family getaway

Property was easy to find very accommodating and spacious. My family is on year 3 of a family trip in or new at Elkins area and we have decided this is the perfect fit. The hot tub was large the yard and fire pit super nice and plenty of games like Cornhole to play. Right by the water so if you want to fish/swim. We will be back next year for the annual trip!

So relaxing

Where to start on this absolutely amazing property.. The house itself has very 1970s modern look to it. With stone feature on the bottom half all the way around the house. I personally love this style of house. Front porch with a couple rockers and a porch swing... where if you like trains you can see the Western Maryland come by twice a day. If you want to ride it, it pulls out from just up town in Elkins. Walking into the house there was lots of natural light from multiple skylights and large widows. A very large living area with a super comfy couch and a TV. The kitchen is smack dab in the middle of the house which makes it convenient for meal prep and being able to still hang out with whoever is in the kitchen. A smaller sunken living room with a nice sized fire place and a door going to the back deck. The lay out of this place was absolutely fantastic. All the bedrooms were on one side of the house while all the living and hangout areas were on the other. Once we went out back we were in love. Plenty of seating options from down by the river, on both decks, and the fire pit. A rock paved path that lead to the river. It's a really good spot to put out a kayak, raft, or tubes. If you don't want to float down river plenty of trees are available to tie off on so you can just sit in the river on your tube. Hands down our new favorite spot. We travel a lot and this is by far the most relaxing place we have EVER stayed. We've already begun planning our next trip out.

The rest we needed

I traveled with my family and parents for an extended weekend before school started. This house was the perfect set up. The house was very spacious and offered everything we needed (my daughter wanted faster wifi). We spent the days fishing, floating in the river, in the hot tub, playing corn hole and long sits by the fire. It was very quiet and although there are a couple houses around, you can't see them or hear them. For dinner one night we ate at Smoke on the Water and it was also amazing. It's a must if you're in the area. We would not hesitate to return and relax again.

The perfect place for a relaxing weekend!

This house has everything you need to stay for a week or a weekend. It's clean, comfortable and well stocked with the necessities. The river in the backyard is perfect for swimming or fishing, and the whole outside area is great for unwinding on the hammock, soaking in the hot tub or sitting around the fire. We had a last minute cancelation on another rental out of state, and the owner of the house made quick arrangements for us to check in the next day. From check in to checkout we codlin't have asked for a better experience. If we return to Elkins I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Our family fell in love with The Shaver's Fork of The Cheat River. We live close by in Elkins, WV and love to get away to fish, float and relax at the river. I am originally from New York and my husband is a native West Virginian.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

River Star is a great location. It has one of the best locations to access the river. It is a gradual access (I call it my river beach) into a great swimming hole. The river has riffles above and below our swimming hole. The property also has a beautiful trickling creek that runs through the property. Kids love to play in the creek, as well as in the river. The property boasts three lots, with a lot of room to play yard games or pop up a tent.
