Enjoy the natural beauty of the Ozarks while surrounding yourself in total comfort. Book a weekend getaway or a full week of summer fun - canoeing/kayaking/rafting, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, golfing, antiquing or just relaxing with a book on the 30-foot porch.
Just outside of Steelville, Missouri, River Oaks Ranch is a magical getaway where friends and family can relax and reconnect. The private and secluded 220-acre estate is nestled in the Mark Twain National Forest in the rolling Ozark Mountains. Estate grounds extend down to a gravel bar beach on the crystal clear Courtois, one of three floatable streams within ten minutes of the ranch. Walk out the ranch gate and you are on the Ozark Trail, a scenic Missouri treasure with hundreds of miles of hiking/riding/equestrian trails.
The lodge comfortably sleeps up to 16 guests. Graciously appointed and with many comforts, the lodge is still a welcoming place for families, with plenty of room inside and out for children to play and explore. Relax and entertain in the 30x30-foot Great Room with a massive 20-foot fireplace and hearth, piano, HDTV, stereo, DVD player, game table and wet bar. Step onto the furnished 30-foot front porch and have your morning coffee while enjoying a panoramic view of the Courtois River Valley and mountain ridges beyond. Watch the ranch horses graze and wildlife roam. Stroll down to the lake and fish for crappie, bluegill, bass or catfish. Take a float on the crystal clear Courtois and then relax on our gravel bar beach, a great way to cool down on a hot summer day. Gather around a roaring campfire at night and be amazed by the sheer number of stars in the big Missouri sky.
The gourmet kitchen features two separate cooking stations, one with griddle and grill. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare elaborate cuisine or simple country fare. Entertain in whatever style you desire, with a 10-foot dining room table which seats 12 and another table nearby that seats 6.
The 6 spacious bedrooms sleep up to 16 people. The bedrooms are decorated with a French Country flair and have ample closet and chest space as well as a comfortable chair for reading. The master suite is a retreat in itself; complete with a private bath, 2 bedrooms, sitting areas and library. There are a total of three bathrooms.

The house and property was awesome,,, so much room, clean, organized ,, plenty to do,, the weather was bad and was scared people wouldn't have a good time but everyone had a great time,, used the fire pit, BBQ pit, fished went down to the river, one of our employees plays the piano and played on the one in the big family room so he played for everyone to enjoy,,, the covered porch was great,,, can't say enough about this place... GREAT TIME,, The Slyman Family
This was our second time renting this beautiful property and we couldn't have been happier. Friends and family had a great time using this as a base to attend three Poco concerts at Wildwood. Everybody had their own space when they wanted it and there was lots of room inside and out to socialize. Evenings spent by the campfire will never be forgotten and it was great to hear the wolves and owls serenading us (or more likely trying to drown out our singing). Phil and Melissa are great hosts and we will be returning again.
I would highly recommend River Oaks Ranch; it is a wonderful place to stay. Our large group was extremely pleased with every aspect of our visit. The lodge was roomy and comfortable, and the kitchen area was large and well-equipped for preparing and serving meals. We enjoyed the scenery from the large covered porch, hiking and exploring the property, and bonfires under the stars. Melissa went above and beyond to accommodate us in every way. She took us on a tour of the property, helped us make arrangements for our float trip (made sure we could easily find our stopping point), and did so many other things to make our stay perfect. If you are looking for a large, comfortable, scenic and peaceful place, this is it. We look forward to coming back. Thank you Melissa and Phil!
Our family spent a week at River Oaks and the only downside was that the time went by too quickly. The very large house is clean and well equipped. Our hosts, Phil and Melissa, were helpful and easy to get a long with. We enjoyed hiking the ranch property and the nearby Ozark Trail. The campfires at night were a lot of fun. You are in a very private setting at River Oaks but you can still be in Steelville in under 15 minutes. We highly recommend this property and hope to stay here again.
We had a recent family reunion at River Oaks Ranch. It was wonderful. We only wished we planned our visit for more time at the ranch. The lodge was amazing. There was plenty of room for our large group and we were completely comfortable in our stay. The front porch was amazing to hang out on as we enjoyed the view on it throughout our stay. The fire pit was also very nice as each of our nights we would sit around the fire talking and laughing all night. This place was about as private as it gets. Everybody in my group came and told me afterwards how glad they were I found this ranch/lodge for our reunion. We will be back to River Oaks Ranch and we will extend our visit next time. The owners were very helpful. We can't wait!!
Phil was outstanding and gave us a great recap of the ranch and the area. The Ranch is beyond beautiful. 220 plus acres of pure beauty. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended :)
