About Kathleen Tannous

My husband and I enjoy being outdoors in the country and getting away to the fresh peaceful mountain air. When we were younger, we enjoyed camping, but as we got older we realized we like the feel of being outdoors with the comfort of a bed! My husband planted the gentleman's vineyard on our property to realize his dream of making wine; like his father did in the old country. We feel like our place is 'our little piece of heaven' and enjoy entertaining friends and family.

Kathleen Tannous purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Kathleen Tannous chose Gold Country & High Sierra

We chose this home, not for a vacation rental, but as a mountain retreat for ourselves and our family. We love the area since there is so much to do such as wine tasting, swimming in rivers and lakes, fishing and hiking short trips to Tahoe. Our son snowboards every winter so he and his friends enjoy the closeness of the Ski resorts to get together and have fun. Mostly we have spent our time relaxing and entertaining our friends and family here. We also have a feeling of relaxation and relief when we arrive and cannot wait to return.

What makes this cabin unique

What we most enjoy about our property are the beautiful seasons and dining outside on the large deck while enjoying the broad night sky with all the stars in view. The house is very roomy so it allows our large family to be there without feeling crowded--everyone has their space. The property is on 5 acres with 5 vacant acres next door, so this allows for privacy. I love the fact that rarely do we hear road noise and we can sit in my pajamas on the front deck without a care in the world!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Kathleen and Simon,

We are so happy to have discovered your lovely vacation home. Our days were spent water skiing on Sly Park Lake and hiking the Sierra, and the evenings were peaceful and relaxing as we sat on the deck and watched the deer graze in the yard. The house had everything we needed, and the basket of goodies was a nice touch. Pride in ownership is evident throughout the home and property. We'll be back.

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This is a perfect place for a couple, family, or a family reunion.....this is the third year we have had our reunion here. The Chalet is well appointed with anything you would need, including lots of games. There is also a recreation center with a beautiful pool about three miles down the road.

Beautiful property, peaceful, and quiet.

  • 4 of 5

We had an amazing time while staying at this house and would stay there again. House has a lot of space and seating, and is set up more as a four bedroom than a three bedroom. The lot is beautiful and quiet. Our stay was very peaceful and relaxing. We had trouble with the internet, but never contacted the property owner to try and get it fixed. The furniture was dated and the cooktop was slow on boil water even on high. The railing for the deck was a little sketchy, but the deck with multiple seating areas was our favorite in the evening when it cooled off. The air conditioner maintained a comfortable temperature even though it was very hot when we arrived. Not a five star, but a very nice quiet getaway. Would definitely use the property again.

Loved It!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 5 nights. Plenty big enough for 12 people without feeling crowded. Everything you need in the kitchen. Comfy beds in all rooms. Beautiful view of the forest. Kids had a great time exploring forest. They also enjoyed both pools. Made a trip to Sly Park for swimming also and a day trip to Tahoe. Lots of games to play, books to read. Beautiful deck surrounding the place with tables & chairs for everyone. Very quiet and peaceful. The only drawback was no TV downstairs for quiet time for kids but they found other things to do, which was probably better anyway. lol. Kathleen answered my questions promptly. Will stay here again! Love the place. Thanks Kathleen.

Great place for large families with pets!!

  • 5 of 5

Very clean, spacious and quiet. Has lots of movies and books and games for everyone. The pool at the club was a added bonus. Everything that you would need was supplied at house. Very detailed information about area and your rental were supplied with downloaded app. O

Had a problem with erratic air conditioner and Kathleen addressed the problem immediately.

If we vacation in area again this is the first place I would rent.

Beautiful home

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful little getaway we had for a leadership retreat! The only thing I would suggest is a light over top of the BBQ and the wifi also didn't work the whole time we were there.
