Enjoy a quiet retreat in this heavenly hacienda, surrounded by Juniper and Piñon trees and lovely gardens in the foothills of Taos, New Mexico. You will easily find places to relax around the house including a private hot tub, paths, deck, patios and an inner courtyard with serene water feature. The main house is approx 3554 sq ft with 3 bedrooms, and 3 baths. This is the perfect rental for entertaining family and friends with a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, spacious patios, dining area with Kiva fireplace and family room. Enjoy your morning coffee in the living room under the huge picture window with the view of Taos Mountain. The master suite has a Kiva fireplace, his and hers baths, and access to the hot tub, courtyard and an additional deck. There are two guest bedrooms, one with a queen bed and a picture window view of the courtyard, and one guest room with two twin beds. The study room can be converted to an extra bedroom as it contains two twin beds. A queen size blowup bed available.

The house is surrounded by outdoor decks and patios for outdoor dining, entertaining, enjoying the magnificent grounds and views and bird watching! Enjoy evening soaks in the private hot tub while listening to the calls of coyotes. Quite the New Mexico experience - you won't believe you are so close to town!

Enjoy your privacy within this 3 acre fenced and gated landscape. On your arrival you will be greeted by a Taoseño who can help answer any questions you may have about Taos and local activities.

Taos Plaza is only 1.8 miles away for shopping, galleries and restaurants. The house is located off of Kit Carson road which is part of the Enchanted Circle Route on the way to Angel Fire. Taos Ski Valley is only 20 miles away.

Hacienda Piñon is nestled in a quiet secluded area near the edge of The Taos Indian Reservation and Carson National Forest, where you'll find the perfect spot to take in beautiful mountain views and natural serenity.

About roy dunlap

Privately owned and managed by Jane and Roy Dunlap. They have recently moved outside of town and are making this their previous home available for rental. Son Blake lives in the detached casita on the property and will act as caretaker. He is a fly fisherman and skier and familiar with the amenities of Taos. Jane and roy moved from Wisconsin to enjoy full time retirement in Taos. We are available to answer questions and help you plan your vacation.

Why roy dunlap chose Taos

We like being close to town, yet in a quiet corner near the National Forest. We were used to living in the country and it took for ever to find a house in which we were not staring at the neighbors. The house and grounds are a retreat. We had dreamed of coming to Taos for 15 years and finally bought a this house, retired and made the big move. We moved out of town to follow through on an investment but remain attached to Hacienda Pinon.

What makes this house unique

We have enjoyed entertaining our friends and family in a spacious house that has separate areas to have privacy. Adults can enjoy a fire in the living room while the young ones watch TV in family room. My favorite time of day is dusk as the temperature drops, the mountains splash with color and we enjoy a meal outside on the deck.

I remember a guest from the heat of Texas asking whether the house was air conditioned. Actually,even in the midst of summer, the house will stay at a pleasant temperature if one lets the cool evening breezes through the house at night and closes doors and windows in the morning

Gurule Family experience at Hacienda Pinion

Every year our family gets together to participate in our personal coined event "Tour de Las Tablas", and we enjoy staying in Taos since we grew up in Tres Piedras, NM. Taos is going home for us, since we are scattered all over the U.S.

In the past five years that we have been getting together for our annual event, Hacienda Pinion exceeded hospitality of all the other places we had stayed at in previous years. It was perfect for us in every way, the owners were there to greet us and extremely friendly and helpful; everything that comes to mind when you truly experience the "Taoseno hospitality". If you have dogs, it is the perfect place to stay because the acreage around the property is state of the art and your pets are safe and secure. My only recommendation would be that the markings on the entrance be marked clearer, as we missed the drive way a few times when we initially arrived. Other than that, it was perfect and we were truly able to relax and enjoy our stay. The house and property were clean and well-maintained. I would definintely recommend this place.

Beautiful and Quiet

We have stayed in Taos before, so we knew what type of property we were looking for and this one was perfect. It is secluded with beautiful views, but close to downtown if you decide to venture out. Carson National Forest and the Pueblo are also very close by and worth visiting.

Because of the heavily treed property, the bird watching was endless. Owner was responsive and easy to work with. We would stay here again!

Amazing hacienda in the Taos foothills

We absolutely loved our time at the Hacienda Pinon. The location is perfect - less than two miles from the plaza, quick to get to either end of Taos, yet the home feels like you are in a secluded retreat up in the hills surrounded by trees. Massive kitchen/living/dining area - perfect for the family to be together while we cooked. Everything you need in a kitchen to cook and serve meals. Each morning we opened all of the doors to let the breeze through the house and to listen to the water feature in the courtyard.

The outside area is the best with the large porch area - complete with a dining table, grill, couch and chairs. We loved the early mornings and evenings porch. We could even hear the Plaza music Thurs night. :) The hot tub was great - we used it after rafting and hiking days - watched the stars and meteors.

Beds were comfortable, everything was extremely clean. The owners were fantastic - provided hiking ideas and restaurant suggestions.

Things we enjoyed - The Fire Playce (paining pottery), fly fishing, hiking to Williams Lake and down the Taos Ski runs, Los Rios Outfitters - Rio Grande middlebox in inflatable kayaks, The Burger Stand, Taos Diner for breakfast, Orlando's, Michael's Kitchen for lunch.

We will definitely be back.

There is not one thing we would change. Perfection for us and much more than we expected. Owners are delightful. Brought our animals and they were welcome. Loved the privacy and decor of the

Casita. Kitchen was much used as was the deck.

Family Gathering

This house is blessed with magic, love and beauty! Our family is large and boisterous but this house provided plenty of room to contain the excitement of teenagers, young adults, our smaller children and one very happy puppy as we played games at night and talked about our adventures on the slopes, on the trails, and out and about the town. My husband--the quiet newcomer to the family--enjoyed being able to escape for some quiet reverence in the casita, my sister-in law enjoyed cooking delicious meals in the large kitchn, and we all enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, surrounded by the natural landscape. Thank you for the trip of a lifetime.

Beautiful home in Taos

We stayed at Hacienda Pinon just after Christmas through the New Year. The house was even more beautiful than the photographs revealed and offered more than we expected. The owners provided every amenity plus extras: festive Christmas decorations; luminarias on the deck railings; a beautiful, large, well-equipped kitchen; robes and slippers to wear after the relaxing soaks in the hot tub we enjoyed after skiing each day in near-by Taos Ski Valley.

We are a three-generation family and the house was ideal. The large rooms offered privacy (teens), were beautifully and comfortably furnished with quiet corners for uninterrupted reading and lovely views of the mountains beyond. Even though we were only a mile or so outside of town, the complete privacy of the multi-acre property gave us a sense of peace and contentment not often found in a vacation rental. We would love to experience Hacienda Pinon during summer or fall when we could spend time outside on the wide, covered decks with views to the valley below. We would recommend this home to any family or group of friends looking for an exceptional setting for their visit.
