The YMCA with a fitness center, gymnasium, aquatic center complete waterslide and splash playground, and two all-season NHL hockey rinks is right next door. You can swim at the public beach in one of the cleanest lakes in the world. It is a short and quiet walk to the village center full of unique shops, numerous 4+ star restaurants, and concerts by the lake on Friday nights in the summer.
Skaneateles also hosts the Curbstone Festival the 3rd weekend in July, the Skaneateles Antique and Classic Boat Show the last weekend in July, the Skaneateles Festival in August, and Skanraces Labor Day weekend. The famous Dickens Christmas runs the day after Thanksgiving through the end of December where the village comes alive with Dickens characters that interact with visitors in the heart of downtown or when just stopping by the grocery store for a few items. It is truly the best time to bring your family if you do not make it during the summer!
In addition, a short drive will take you to multiple New York State wineries, hiking areas, scenic lake views, and it is just 30 minutes to Syracuse (Home to the Great New York State Fair August 20-September 6) and slightly over an hour to Rochester.
