We had a very nice stay at this house. The views are amazing. The house was well appointed with everything we needed. Enjoyed everything. Would recommend to others.
This home was a gem nothing short of amazing the 360 views from any room were top notch. My only complaint is that the floors were very sandy/sticky/dirty, we swept and mopped shortly upon our arrival but this would not deter me from renting again and again. So comfortable & gorgeous. Do not even think about it BOOK IT ASAP. 10/10 would return.

Jessica, thank you very much for your great review. I am so sorry the floors weren't sufficiently cleaned prior to your arrival. I've passed this feedback on to the cleaning team, and they will give more attention to the floors going forward.
An exceptional house situated in a superb location. A place for the most decerning. Spacious with a well-equipped kitchen, and a view from every window. As an added bonus the house offers an elevator for those of us who have mobility issues. We'll be back.
Beautiful home, wonderful location, scenic views, spectacular sunsets!!! Home is as advertised, spacious, super clean, and surrounded by water & lovely views all around!!
The property was lovely. The views from every room were beautiful. It was fun to have a pool table. It would have been helpful to have an additional pull out couch or another bed. When we arrived the snow hadn’t been plowed which made for a stressful check in, but host fixed the issue within an hour

Thank you, Darcie for the overall positive review. The day of your arrival, an 18" snow storm had just ended. You arrived slightly early. Fortunately, we were able to have the house plowed before your scheduled arrival time.
The number of beds and pull outs is accurately represented in the listing.
Our family had a wonderful stay. The home has plenty of room for people to spread out over two floors. The location is spectacular with amazing Maine coastal views from every window. Cook’s Lobster House is a two minute drive from the property. Overall a very memorable experience and we would love to come back again.
Amazing place awesome view. The lobsters that came from the Bay across the street. We're amazing everything about this place looking forward to renting it again
Very clean and well maintained home. Made for entertaining, we came to Brunswick for Bowdoin family weekend, due to the sad events in Lewiston, all Friday events were canceled, things were made better by being able to have our son and several other families over for a lobster boil while we sheltered in place.
The house has many areas for kids, teenagers and adults to enjoy and relax. The views are scenic and available from each window or porch. The common areas accommodate a large group, and the separate seating areas give space to have conversations with friends you hadn’t seen in years.
Property was very clean and very well equipped. Every window is looking out at water. We did not need AC when we were there I would wonder about AC in middle of Summer. But lots of windows to open. Would stay there again.

Jim, thank you for staying. Bailey Island rarely gets above 77F during the day in the summer, and rarely below 65F at night. It is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
Charming seaside house on beautiful Bailey Island!
My family (me, my wife, and two children aged 17 and 14) stayed at this charming seaside house between Christmas and New Year's and had a wonderful time. We have always loved visiting Bailey's Island but have never stayed over night. The island is a perfect getaway during the Holidays for some r&r with your loved ones. The house had all of the modern comforts while providing our family ample room during our stay. The host was gracious and a very good communicator. We hope to stay at this property next year!
It was a very clean and comfortable home with beautiful views from all rooms. We very much enjoyed our stay. and would recommend this rental.
The only downside was early in the morning on our last day there was a storm and the power went out. The house has a generator, but it did not kick on, so we were scrambling to get things out of the refrigerator and get ready to leave the house that day.

Courtney, thank you for your overall positive review. I am sorry we lost power the morning of your departure. That is not a common occurrence at this location.
The standby generator has since been serviced and repaired. It's malfunction is unlikely to happen again.
This house was beautiful! Every room, Including bedrooms, had a view of the water or harbor. Kitchen and family room were spacious and sunny. We enjoyed the other sitting room as well with pool table and bar. Entire house was clean and very welcoming!
Our family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and we would definitely recommend to others. Booking and communicating with Matt was exceptionally easy. He answered any and all questions and was
Watching the lobster boats come in and out was fantastic!
What a fabulous place. Absolutely beautiful large home with stunning harbor views out every window. We had a larger group and small kids and it gave us plenty of room to spread out and have privacy. Very well stocked house with the most complete furnishings of any vacation rental we’ve ever seen. Owner communication was fabulous and easy. Nice that this area is not overly touristy making it very relaxing. Nice little beach right across the road. We will be back for sure! Thanks Matt and company!
We used this as the main stay place for our wedding weekend at the Johnson Field Preserve. It made the whole weekend fantastic and was a key piece. The location is fantastic and the layout/features of the house are very nice. A few things we thought need to be fixed and addressed:1. The amenities were very poorly supplied; towel, toilet paper, hand/shower soap, and cleaning supply was not sufficient for our 8-10 guests. 2. No locks on bathrooms and some bedrooms.3. The pool table sticks didn’t have tips or chalk and the table isn’t level.4. One bedroom had a rough bed. Some big pros:1. The rooftop space was insanely cool and nice.2. The garage gym was definitely good quality and supplied well.3. All of the rooms had great views.4. Very nice kitchen space but the kitchen supplies were oddly scattered. 5. The garage has tons of things to use outdoors and for the water. 6. LOCATION is incredible!Overall it was perfect for our wedding weekend but a handful of odd small things definitely need attention to make this truly worth its nightly value. Would stay again!

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
The house is in a great location, however the interior is in need of better clarification and cleaning when we arrived. All bedrooms, it turns out are upstairs although there is a master bedroom downstairs that appeared to be under construction when we arrived, along with a dirty towel hanging in the master bathroom. When we contacted the host , he stated the room was never advertised and shouldn’t be used ( why not just seal it off or state that specifically in the advertisement) We are able bodied and managed to get luggage upstairs ( elevator didn’t work) We found dirty dishes and coffee pot beside the sink in kitchen and no dishwasher supplies provided. Only one bedroom has a TV although pictures in advertisement show otherwise. The sleep number bed didn’t work and Although the ad states use of garage, we found no way to open the garage other than from the inside. A house “instruction” book would be a major improvement with this property. Again, the house is located in a great area and we had a great time in Maine, just had some disappointment in the condition and usefulness of the property in general.

Thank you for your feedback. As we communicated privately, the additional bedroom was still under construction, and will be ready and advertised in November 2025 (which is where the contractors left a dirty towel).
Unfortunately, you didn't contact us about any of the other issues during your stay. I would have been happy to explain how to use the elevator, where the dish detergent was, how to use the sleep number bed, and how to open the garage door (which was in the instructions provided).
Your suggestion for a house guidebook is a good one, and we will prepare.
A perfect property to reconnect with family and unwind. Water views from every room. It was spacious and thoughtfully designed. The elevator was a welcomed surprise for those of us with mobility issues, The house was wonderfully appointed, and the kitchen was well-stocked with everything needed to feed a large group. The many large stock pots and crackers were appreciated as we steamed the lobsters from Glen's. My son-in-law appreciated the office space, and the teenagers were delighted with the pool table. A highlight of the stay was rediscovering the Milky Way one clear evening from the rooftop deck. As for me...I just soaked up the view of the harbor and chilled out. My only negative would be the bed in the master bedroom. It was lumpy and uncomfortable! Other than that, I highly recommend the property.

Carol, thank you for your thorough review. I'm glad you enjoyed the property and your stay. Regarding the master bed, I wish you had reached out to me during your stay. The mattress is a "Sleep Number" mattress and has a motorized mechanism that will raise and lower the mattress. If it's not set to completely flat, the mattress will feel lumpy indeed. But that is easily remedied with the remote control.
We arrived late afternoon on Christmas Day. The heat was not on, we had to wait for the house to warm up. We had a three month old baby with us, didn’t plan on walking into a cold house. We had no water pressure when we arrived, my guests were checking the property thinking a pipe had frozen and ruptured. Texted the owner, texted again, then called. He answered and said he would turn the water on for us!
Note: the loft is in one of the bedrooms with a very steep stairs.
We loved the house, it was clean, and very large. The scenery from the front and back was spectacular! We walked across the street to Glens Lobster everyday for lobster to cook at dinner. We had fun metal detecting the shoreline. Watching the tide was so amazing. Wonderful location.

Thanks, Diane. We do keep the water off when the house is unoccupied in the winter. I would note that it was turned on within 5 minutes of your first contact. And the house was 60F when you arrived.
Absolutely stunning location! Gorgeous property! Perfect Maine location 😍
Sea breezes and views out EVERY window, the perfect spot for large groups. We had both sides of the family there for an intimate celebration and it was amazing to be able to sit together around the table and complete a puzzle, connect as a family. Gorgeous house, very comfortable and plentiful furniture & bathrooms. The only thing that leaves me from giving 5 stars is the loft is part of the 3rd bedroom so to declare 4 bedrooms in the ad is a bit misleading, because if you are 4 different couples, assuming that you’re going into 4 different private bedrooms, but then show up and the “4th bedroom” is actually a loft containing twin beds quite literally on top of the bed in the 3rd bedroom, and you haven’t met the people staying in bedroom 3 before? It’s awkward. I would change that in the ad—make it more clear—however, the couches on both floors are INCREDIBLY comfortable and made up for the lack of privacy in a pinch. Again, absolutely stunning. Great communication. Grandparents needed elevator, fully stocked kitchen supplies (side note: ice makers don’t produce ice), and plentiful towels. Soooo clean. Having rented numerous homes, it would be incredibly helpful if owners provide a home manual, speaking to all aspects of property, including how run equipment like the elevator, sleep number bed, remote control curtains, rc fireplaces, intercom, electronics, appliances, and expectation for use of things in the garage—paddle boards, kayaks, life vests, cornhole boards etc. Loved

Thank you for your positive and overall positive review. We do strive for accuracy in the listing. Yes, the loft is above one of the bedrooms. Note the loft is also only accessible from a steep staircase.
If you are looking for additional privacy for a fourth couple, there is a separate room on the first floor with an Ethan Allen pull out sofa.

Why they chose this property
Mackerel Cove is famous for being the most photographed waterfront in Maine. The harbor is a working waterfront with lobster boats that set out to sea every day and return in the evening with their catch. Bailey Island is accessible by bridge, but has a true laid back island vibe that visitors feel the moment they set foot. Come and relax with your family and you will want to return for years to come!
