2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 4
Why Di Barbour chose New Town
Warm, bright, comfortable and very central in a beautiful and very historic neighbourhood.
What makes this Apartment unique
Central and full of character. The flat is surrounded by many bars, restaurants, antiques shops, art shops and galleries and many small shops offering everything from crystal chandeliers to speciality cheeses. Even though a few minutes away from all of these facilities, Cumberland Street is quiet so a good nights sleep can be enjoyed.

This apartment is amazing. Large with 2.5 baths.
The apartment is beautiful and so large.
We loved the neighborhood and the Cumberland St Bar.
Stairs are a little tricky fir 3 ladies who did not pack lightly, but so worth it.
Can’t say enough about the place. Would definitely stay again. The highlight of our trip to the UK.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this great Review. It really is much appreciated.
It was a pleasure to have you to stay and you would be welcome back again any time.
All the very best to you all,
Lovely and quaint apartment
This is a great location when visiting Edinburgh. Especially, if you want to have amenities close by and want a relatively quiet location. Diane (Di) is wonderful to work with along the way. She is very responsive and is a delight. This location made it possible for my brother and I to play golf at Guilane one day. We were also able to walk to most sites in the city, as well as hop on and off busses. We got plenty of walking in as well. This location is warm, well decorated, and homey, to say the least. We had a great time with my brother and his wife.......both of whom we have known for 40+ years. I would highly recommend this location, if you want a quaint and wonderful location, as well as a fantastic manager/owner/operator of this location in Di. She is great, and is very responsive to questions and concerns. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days. Was just about right for portioning out our week in Scotland. We would stay again, should we come to Scotland in the future........without hesitation.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review Kevin. I really appreciate it and really hope I can welcome you back. You would all be more than welcome.
All the very best,
Charming, comfortable, perfect location, great hosts
The flat was exactly as described, bright and cheerful with a lovely updated kitchen and bathroom. Having a second shower and second toilet made it perfect for three women and a 3 1/2-year-old. The location couldn't have been more convenient, close to food shops, restaurants and cafes, the city centre, a well-equipped playground, and a short bus ride to the Botanical Gardens. The hosts checked in with us during our stay and were available for any questions. Can't wait to come back!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review Veronica. It is much appreciated. You would, of course, all be welcome back any time.
All the very best,
Great base for exploring Edinburgh!
The apartment was charming and very comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped. We got locked out and Di got us right back in the apartment. It's located in a row of Georgian townhouses - we felt like well-to-do natives! This street is located at the bottom of the hill - so we got in the habit of uber-ing to the Royal Mile or museums, etc. and walking back. The Stockbridge neighborhood was terrific -- check out The Last Word. Di had recommended but my husband found on his own - best and most interestng cocktails we'd ever had. We had a lovely time and hope to return soon.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this lovely Review for me. I really appreciate it. Come back soon.
All the best to you all,
Beautiful apartment, a short walk from numerous cafes and restaurants. A 10 minute walk into the centre albeit up a steep hill!! The apartment was spotless and very comfortable - a lovely stay, thank you.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write this Sarah, it is much appreciated. It’s always great to hear that my guests have enjoyed Edinburgh and the flat. Please come back again any time. You would all be most welcome.
Spacious, well-equipped flat within easy walking distance of Edinburgh attractions.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Di’s flat. The location was excellent, as we were able to walk everywhere in Edinburgh and there were plenty of pubs and grocery stores close by. The flat was quite charming and we especially appreciated the washing machine and drying rack after having already spent 10 days walking in the Shetland Islands. Di had a huge notebook of suggested eating places and tours and we spent our first afternoon taking her recommended walk along the Water of Leith (lovely). We would definitely stay there again if we get the chance to visit Edinburgh again!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely Review Ellen - I really appreciate it and am delighted you enjoyed it all. Come back again any time - you would all be most welcome.
Very best wishes,
Cumberland Street is in the heart of Edinburgh's beautiful Georgian New Town. Due to the wonderful architecture in this area it has been declared a World Heritage Site! The apartment is also surrounded by superb antique shops, art galleries and many other specialist shops, as well as many, many bars and restaurants ranging from traditional to ultra chic.
All this, and you are only a brief 10 minute walk from the very 'up market' George Street followed by Princes Street, both offering everything a shopper could desire as well as many more bars and restaurants. A further fascinating 10 - 15 min walk will take you to the world famous Royal Mile in the Old Town and of course, Edinburgh Castle.
In the apartment, there is a folder which is full of information on things to do, places to see and places to eat and drink. You will NEVER be bored.
Other Activities: Stockbridge is a 5 min walk where there is a superb street market every Sunday which mainly offers delicious foods. Stockbridge also has superb specialist shops offering jewellery, arts and crafts, interior design, flower shops etc - lots of charity shops too if you like a rummage. Also, of course, more bars and restaurants to choose from.
