Your perfect family vacation awaits! Wit's End has been our family's second home for 15 years, and now with grown kids, we want to share it with others to enjoy. Come make your own memories in this unique and fun property at the end of the road.

The 4-story house has an open concept living on the main floor, a ground level game room and two floors of bedrooms and stunning lake views. The main floor has a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable living room and dining areas with one bedroom, bathroom and laundry. Ground level has a ping pong table, bar and living area that open up to a large patio with an outdoor shower. There is a huge, level yard and spectacular views across the lake, which is clear and beautiful for swimming in the summer. The house is well-stocked with all the games and toys you need for a lake retreat. - kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, floats, lawn games and more!

Bedrooms: main floor has one bedroom with a queen bed and one bathroom. The second floor has two bunk rooms, one with four twin beds (two stacked), the other with two stacked twin beds (no window), and a bedroom with a queen bed that all share a bathroom. The third floor is the master suite with a king bed, bathroom, and small porch.

Winter sports activities nearby include skiing/boarding at Pleasant Mountain (20 min), Cranmore (30 min), and Sunday River (1 hour), cross-country skiing at Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring & Snowshoe Center (30 min), Jackson Ski Touring Foundation Nordic Ski Area (40 min) and lots of hiking trails for backcountry skiing and snowshoeing nearby.

In the warmer seasons, there is great hiking all around the area, including the stunning White Mountains.

During the summer we require a six night minimum preference for Sat/Sun to Fri/Sat.

Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks, and take out the trash
Turn off the lights, lock the doors, and return the keys
TRASH & RECYCLING instructions - Please bag trash and recycling separately. Recycling (glass, aluminum cans, milk jugs) should be bagged separately from household trash, old food, etc.
CONTUNUED: Cardboard should also be bagged separately. Put all bags into the cans outside around the corner from the front door. Use the green cans for trash and the others for recycling.
CONTINUED: if cans are full, please just ensure that all trash and recycling is properly bagged and then place it outside next to the cans. THANK YOU!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Do not move any furniture inside the house, no dogs on any furniture, and keep dogs out of house if they have been in the lake.
Do not touch/raise any of the screens on the porch

Another Great Stay

Second year booking this property, really enjoy the coziness, direct access to the water w/ sandy beach, and location at the end of a dead end road. Plenty of room for our extended family of 10.

This home was a lovely retreat, with room for the whole family. The waterfront and views were beautiful, the yard provided space for lawn games, and there are so many welcoming settings for meals and conversation both inside and out. Thank you for sharing this beautiful place. We would love to return next year.

A great house for a large group! Some of our favorite features were the huge screened in porch, the swing chairs on the lower level deck, the outdoor shower, and the master bedroom suite with a little balcony. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of dishes and cooking utensils, but could benefit from some better lighting. Check-in and check-out was super easy.

Loved the open concept. The view of lake was fantastic. Favorite space was screened in porch. Was surprised of all the personal items left by either previous guests or owners especially in bathrooms limiting space for our items. Loved the kayaks paddle boards etc, wished there were adult life jackets to go with them. But was fun seeing the kids use them ( kids jackets were available)

Charming and eclectic barn conversion with stunningly beautiful lake access. Great WiFi and cell service. Hot tub was not working and appeared to have been inoperable for some time. Note that there are no televisions in the house. Small and badly worn pans - bring your own. Poor lighting - bring a headlamp. One tattered life vest. Vibe is super positive, warm, friendly and plenty of space for the entire family to feel at home!

Great stay

My friends and I came for a friends weekend and had a blast. Great location for a relaxing weekend by the fire and chilling on the porch. Easy access to the water and the provided canoes, kayaks and paddleboards were a plus.

Perfect week on the lake with family

Our family had a wonderful week enjoying all this property has to offer. The house is nicely furnished and comfortable for a large family to spread out. We really enjoyed the large beach access to the lake, where we spent most of our time. Would highly recommend and we all hope to be back next year!

Due to an outside biting bug infestation that was not communicated to us in advance we could never be outside to enjoy any of the amenities of being on the water. Sadly our stay was for someplace to sleep only.

Great house, great lake, great area

With a week-long family vacation for 12 people of various ages, this house, yard, and lake gave us plenty of space. Between the canoes, kayaks, stand up boards, ping pong, yard games, hot tub, board games, and fire pit, there was always something to do and enjoy.

This was our second year in a row staying at this property and we are planning to be back again next year. We have a large group of two families with children ranging from 4 years old to teenagers. There is plenty to do and plenty of space for everyone. You cannot beat the location and Andrew and Jodi are very responsive.

Amazing Location

Beautiful location right on Lovewell pond with nice sandy beach for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding. Very private property with large yard. Plenty of areas to hang out both inside and out including fire pit and hot tub. Perfect for large groups and all ages. Andrew and Jodi are very responsive. We will be back!

Great rustic modern cabin on lake

This was a pretty cool house! Rustic modern. Loved the record collection and we had a great time bonding with our late teen sons over board games and cards. Convenient to North Conway, NH for skiing. Very clean and listing was very accurate. Would definitely stay here again. Must be beautiful in the summer.

Incredible and thank you.Our family has been vacationing in the Fryeburg, ME / North Conway, NH areas for thepast 23 years. This is by far the best vacation home that has been shared with our family. The lake front location and views we just breath taking. Every morning andevening were great photo opportunities for my wife and me on our 40 th WeddingAnniversary.The home was spacious and allowed much freedom for our family of 11. The kitchenwas user friendly, and we prepared several meals during our extended weekend. Theseating was comfortable. The dining area allowed all to sit comfortably at a single tablefor meals. And the dining table was great for game playing. The basement was pingpong friendly and lots of fun for all. Even the kids didn’t miss the TV at all.The three sleeping levels allowed us to separate at bedtime. Very comfortable for agood night’s sleep. The children were tucked in bed, and the adults could play games tillthe wee hours.And the “Pig Challenge” was an awesome addition. The Guest book and instructionswere very clear and appreciated.We look forward to the opportunity to visit again in the near future.Thank you so very much for being an incredible host.

Beautiful Stay on the Water

Our party of 10 had a great stay at Witt’s End. Beautiful reclaimed Barnwood home right on the lake, with 4 comfortable bedrooms and one additional suitable for kids. Nice beach area right out back, plenty of kayaks/canoes/SUP to enjoy. Nice game room. Large, level back yard. Good A/C in main area and the four main bedrooms. Very convenient to town, and its end of the road location made for no traffic at the house. Beautiful view of the mountains from the back porch.

Pictures don't do it justice!

Gorgeous, cool, well appointed post and beam barn convert, we were surprised and pleased with the house. Really unique property not like anywhere we have ever stayed. The beds and linens were top notch like 5 star hotel quality and the mini-split AC's were a LIFE SAVER in humid July. Kitchen was immaculate and every glass/plate/utensil you pull from the drawer was clean (after dozens of rental houses this is a true novelty). Great house, can't wait to come back next year!

Family vacation

The house is exactly as described. Plenty of room for a large family. Unfortunately (not the owners fault) the mosquitoes were so bad we couldn’t go outside and enjoy the beautiful lake. My only issues were there was opened and cooked food still in the fridge when we got there and the people before us must have had a dog because there was still some dog poop in the yard. Minor issues we took care of ourselves. Overall we still enjoyed the week.

Fryeburg family lake getaway

This was our first family vacation in many years and it did not disappoint. Even though it rained the entire time, the view was wonderful, there were many games & puzzles, a turn table & albums, great appliances and a grill under cover for making family meals, a hot tub, and plenty of room for all of us including our Golden Retriever. The area has many things to do -we ate at the 302 Tavern - (really good food, large portions) took in a movie, and planned to get a photo op in Denmark, ME since one of the boys is moving to Copenhagen next month. We didn't miss the TV. The house is off the beaten path and, though other cottages are nearby, it felt very private. If you like lake living with a little rustic glam, this is for you.

Great Family Getaway

Amazing location - the photos don’t do the yard or lake justice. Taking this full review into consideration, this house is definitely one of favorites! Our extended family of ten (2yo - grandparents) fit comfortably in the house, and the kids loved the bunk room. Plenty of space to play!The top floor master was great, and the 2nd floor Full bedroom was perfect for us. The queen bedroom off the living room lacked AC (and curtains) which made some nights uncomfortable, and some mornings very bright, very early.We loved how our entire family could eat or play games around the massive dining table, while also taking advantage of the (extendable) picnic table on the deck - both need lights.Unfortunately we did have a couple of minor issues while we were there, and luckily the owner was extremely responsive, and quick with fixes. Dirty dishes were left in the washer uncleaned by previous visitors. We lost hot water early in the trip, but was fixed later the same day. We ran out of TP on day two (quickly delivered by mgmt) as the house was significantly understocked for a 3-bathroom rental - and the basement bathroom was out of order during our stay.The kitchen had no standard spoons, which was odd. We bought some so the kids could eat cereal. There was only one dish towel, and the dish soap ran out day 1. Kitchen lighting was almost dangerously low, and multiple canoe/kayaks need fixing. We also found mouse droppings in the bathroom, in dresser drawers, and even on a bed.

Just Like Staying in a Friend's House

The best things about this house are all the things that you would do in your own vacation house (as opposed to the things that people do in a house that's used solely for rental income): plenty of hooks in the entryway dishwasher drawers, and a farm sink and faucet in the kitchen 2 indoor dining tables that seat as many people as the house sleeps raised dog bowls and a dog bed throw blankets screened porch/deck railings that don't obstruct the view a Weber grill a secitonal, hammock and Adirondack chairs, and chaise lounges on the screened porch/deck a hot tub brimming with really ot water that fits 8 people a coat roack to dry hot tub towels central air on the main floor and quiet, remote-controlled bedroom ACs that don't take up windows a beautifully-decorated master suite with a ceiling fan that that looks like a work of art a sandy beach area and sand-bottomed swimming area That said, we desperately needed more light in the kitchen and the kitchen cabinets are not updated. And while the house was mostly spotless, there were some cobwebs and food/personal items left from previous people. We've visited North Conway 1-2 times a year in all seasons for 20+ years. We were concerned about thie house's location 20 minutes from downtown North Conway, but it turned out to be a bonus because we got off the beaten path, felt like locals, and discovered new favorites like the 302 West Smokehouse and Saco River Brewing (thanks to the host's recommendations).

Peaceful waterfront

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely house on a beautiful lake with a big grass area for our grandchildren and dog to run around. The super hosts were very responsive and accommodating to our requests. The lakefront area was super fun for our family as we made great use of the kayak, canoes and paddle board. The house has a well equipped kitchen although some cookware should be replaced as it was old and worn. There are many board games and some outdoor games as well. We loved the screened in porch! Bedrooms were just as pictured. The master suite was really nice and comfortable. House was well stocked with towels for waterfront and showering. Firepit was great! Having said all these great things there are some things that should be addressed. Lighting in kitchen and dining area as well as by the barbecue in the screened in both was poor. The bedroom off the kitchen does not have a window shade so when the sun comes up, the people sleeping there know it. Master bathroom window in the shower at holes in the screen which let bugs in. We actually plugged with pieces of tissues. The screen door out to the balcony from the master suite was ripped preventing us from opening the door to allow for fresh Maine air and cross ventilation in that room. Unfortunately the hot tub was broken which the hosts did tell us that in advance, which we appreciated rather than finding out upon arrival.
