About Linda

We built this home away from home to get away from our busy lives in CT and enjoy all of what 'Vacationland' has to offer. Relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Maine. This house and property has truly been our labor of love. We are happy to share it with you!

Linda purchased this house in 2008

Why Linda chose Mountains & Lakes

We picked the sleepy town of Brownfield Maine to build our 3,000 square foot cottage because of the easy access to everything we might like to do including: the arts (music, local artists, craftsmen etc) including Stone Mountain arts Center. Hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, kayaking, and boating. Less then 1 hour to old Orchard Beach, or Freeport. Shopping and great restaurants of all types. Nearly (20) Ski resorts within an hour drive. Snowmobile and snowshoe trail access directly across the street.

Just about everything you would want to do from minutes to max 1 hour away.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the beautiful park like setting, to build our home. The ever changing Saco river is mesmerizing. We have the only peninsula on the river which we go to often and sit on our swing. It feels like a golden pond. Being so close to the river allows us to witness nature in all her beauty. To see turkeys, eagles, ducks, and deer. Are all part of the beauty of this place. A small piece of heaven.

Perfect House!

  • 5 of 5

We've been going to ME, NH and VT on Columbus Day Weekend for the past 26 years. We have stayed a many beautiful homes, this is one right up there with the best. First of all it's super clean, many places claim to be clean but we end up cleaning when we get there, not with this home, just unpack and enjoy. They have not forgotten anything that one would need in a home and have not skimped on quality. Great mattresses and lines. The kitchen is very well appointment with quality silverware, dishes, pot and pans. I appreciate that everything is in great condition and matches....we've been to place where everything is hodge podge. We didn't have small children staying with us but this house is a child's paradise, from the cute little alcove bedrooms for kids, the starlight TV room, the play area in the rec room and the swings in the back. Everyone in our party was super happy with this year's choice of vacation rental! Thank you.

Wonderful river getaway

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house to stay in. My husband and I just got back from staying here for 5 days. The house is right out of a magazine but still had a very welcoming feel. We enjoyed the pool table and air hockey. My husband enjoyed fishing on the river. A nice private lot. Owner very quick to respond . Caretaker was very helpful. You will enjoy your stay!

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 adults ranging in age from 35 to 68, and two children, age 4 and 9 just shared a splendid week at the River House in Maine. Of course, six straight days of Sunshine, out of seven, added to the pleasure for outdoor activities. The large deck, yard, play area and fire pit were enjoyed daily. The home is well equipped and truly a work of craftsmanship. The decor and furnishings in every room made our stay that much more memorable. So much so, the whole family wants to return again and it was given the distinction of THE Best vacation rental we ever shared
